Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.

Very comprehensive review, Carl! Stanley has always done right by me. I still have some 20 y.o. stainless travel mugs and a nearly 40 y.o. huge thermos that all work as well as the day I bought them. That Stanley you tested looks sweet, and seems to perform equally sweet. That would be my first choice. The leaky Yeti, not so much. I perceive everything Yeti to be overhyped, over priced for what you get, and under performing. I own nothing Yeti. I like that leather on the Bison Beanie! Stay healthy Carl!

I've been using the Rtic brand one for years and I love them. The only knock I have against them is that the acrylic lids crack easily when you drop them. The lids are dishwasher safe. I do take the gasket off so that it can be cleaned as well.

Been using the RTIC and the YETI daily, alternating of course, for over a year now. My daughter uses a smaller version of the Hydroflask 2-3 times a week for school. The other two may be the same, just can’t speak from experience on them. You mentioned the gunk that can build up from coffee (or juice). Make sure you regularly take the black gaskets off and wash them and under them. There is a reason they are black. Even after dutifully washing them daily, one day I decided to take gaskets off. All three brands had build up of black gunk under them. Everyone always talks about cleaning the caps…those gaskets get surprisingly nasty!

I've owned the Yeti, Stanley and Rtic. The Rtic lids do not hold up, eventually the flap where it connects to the lid cracks. I replaced them twice. The Stanley is excellent, no surprise there and so is the Yeti. I find the Yeti is a little easier to use because you have to hold the button in on the Stanley, but I love both of them and don'y think you can go wrong with either.

The RTIC, with the handle costs $20.
The $4.99 handle makes a huge difference.
The handle puts the container out if the " thermos bottle" catagory and into a Mug catagory.
The Yeti has one with a handle for $35, but it is attached so limited in use.
Or, as you said a fantastic leather sleeve for the Yeti for $50.
That handle for the RTIC is why I prefer my RTIC to my yetti, camelbacks, clean canteen, Hydroflask and old Stanley.
Having the leather add on fir the Yeti and not including the handle for the RTIC was a miss. Hopefully, you will get a chance to try it sometime and see why.
I understand that you have had little experience with the RTIC. That was clear from the suprise in its durability. You might want to look into it as a company. I think you will be pleasantly suprised. It is not like Ozark Trail or some other knock-off but a legitimate Texas company that has been around for like 6 or 7 years.
    Just a thought.

I got a 30oz yeti tumblr as a gift. I made a paracord handle with paramax and 550 paracord. I’ve had it for years and still going strong. There are videos how to make them or you can even find them on Etsy or eBay. I think the dyi handle is the way to go because you can choose how tight you want it.

Carl, I would have compared the Yeti 18oz bottle with their Hotshot cap. The cap is a two piece device with 360 degree drinking ability.

Yeti has addressed the upside down spill actually! If you want a more secure lid their new travel mugs with what they call the stronghold lid is much better. It’s a screw on lid with a click and lock slider. The slider is still removable but it’s in two pieces now

    @Charile2077 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeti also is similar to Apple. They put a premium on the user experience. You can just push the lid on where ever you need. You don’t have to line up threads to the lid.
Also a very nice job on the review but I think the yeti and RTIC are kinda of their own category. It would have been better to compare a yeti and rtic bottle with the others but very nice job either way

I carry 2 travel thermoses, first a 20 oz Zojiruchi trermos, and a Nissan 16 oz thermos bottle. Both I have had for over 10 years, and both are superb thermos bottles, and the Nissan costs about $28, and the Zojiruchi costs about $30. They dont leak, and keep the coffee hot for at least 12 hours. The Hydroflask isnot quite a good unit, the damn thing rusted on me, small rust spots developed after about a year's use.

Zojirushi is the right answer. By far the longest insulation on the market. I use a Zojirushi thermos as a luxury item for some short winter snowshoe backpacking trips. I'll be outside in 15F weather all day and I can enjoy some hot apple cider or hot chocolate when I get to camp at night.
