I think Honda is trying to fulfill this 'outdoorsy" market with Trailsport trims on several models, but I don't feel Honda is really putting in a real effort. My daughter recently bought a Suburu Outback Wilderness and THAT is a model designed for the outdoors. It is elevated from the standard Outback, has skid plating, lots of rubber matting inside, and suspension adjustments for off-road and even a reinforced roof for tent placement. Honda seems to make mostly cosmetic efforts with some skid plating and leather stitching, but no elevation of the frame, and better off-road tires. I agree the HPD package is a waste of money. I love Honda's but I can't take their Trailsports seriously for off-road activities.
Everything you said, I’m in full agreement!! And yeah the most Honda is doing is skid plates and off-road tuned suspension and like for the pilot trail sport it has the limited diff. But that’s still not full outdoorsy. Suburu outback was most def a good choice with what she was probably looking for
