Nice demonstration! You've certainly polished your delivery over the years. This one is very descriptive and precise with tips and instructions. Thank You!
I like that at least you took the proper time to explain to explain what the process is for changing that rear fuel filter and when you get a chance maybe do the front field filter for field filter also thanks
Really appreciate you walking this through that I watched a lot of videos they're all incomplete none of them could help me get my stuff reset but yours champion champions.
Good video. Welcome to my world. Cartridge filter on the Ram Ecodiesels. Just changed mine this afternoon. Whatever happened to just using canister filters? I don't understand why the switch to this system. Anyway, at least you all get a socket end on the fuel filter cap. The 3L diesel just has a cap with 4 points of plastic sticking out. I mean WTH engineers? Who thought that made sense? Anyway, I've gotten it off three times and replaced it with a genuine imported FCA filter rather than pay dealership $379 to change it. Got a hint for you DIY at home guys when you are upside down on the ground and are facing a pint of diesel in the face. Take a 1 gallon zip-loc bag and just before it starts to leak, put it over it and then spin off the rest of the way. Saves a bit of mess but does cost a bag.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Very informative and helpful! I traded my 2012 Longhorn for a 2019 Tradesman (5th Gen). Now have a little over 10k miles and your videos will help me keep my Cummins healthy for a long time! Please keep doing what your doing and stay safe. Liked 👍 and Subscribed from Mississippi.
You by far were born to do these videos! These are some of the best vehicle video I've seen! Very informative. I will be doing a full service on my 2020 Dodge 2500 6.7 diesel this weekend, (weather permitting) I have subscribed and thanks for the great information!
Thanks for the information on the priming procedure. I didn't worry about it in the last generation with the CP3 pump, but I do worry about having a proper prime for the new trucks with the CP4. Very helpful
I think proper priming is the key to avoiding problems with CP4 as well as CP3. Both rely on fuel for lubrication. Another thing to never ever even consider is adding ATF to the fuel system. Back in the Detroit Diesel -71-series engines, ATF was frequently used to pre-fill fuel filters but with the close machining tolerance in modern fuel systems it is death to injectors. To give an idea as to how precisely injector components are machined, I saw a demonstration where the pintle was removed from the injector body, a mark was made on the pintle with a Sharpie and the pintle would no longer slide into the injector body until the Sharpie mark was cleaned off.
First for me.....dealer said it was on back order. Didnt even know they changed it until the customer contacted me. Stay safe as well and thanks for watching
Another very good video. At least you are thoughtful enough to clean the truck after!! I have done this twice on my 19 RAM. I find that if I I reset the reminder with just the ignition on, I can get 100%. With the engine running, I get 99%.
Great video. Best I've seen on this process. Cadence was good and very descriptive. Can you tell me what size tubing you used for the initial drain of the fuel?
Awesome video, any chance we can request more videos from you on other 2019+ 6.7 Cummins maintenance? Differentials, transmission oil, front fuel filter, air filters etc? Thank you for posting these!
If you leave the drain open as you break the seal air will get in and allow the drain to bleed off the rest of the fuel preventing the big spill everyone has. Did mine yesterday not a drop on my hands or drive shaft.
I kept the drain open, and when the vacuum broke on the canister a fair bit more drained out the hose, and reduced the mess. Rather than guess, I torqued to the same spec as the front.
Thanks for another great Video David. Here's a little bit of info thought you'd like to know. The (5th Gen) Dodge Ram Big Horn 2021 6.7 Cummins Manual says to change the fuel filters every 12 months or 6000 miles. I think that just depends on the quality of Diesel fuel you normally use. Some Bio Diesel are different than others. What's your take on fuel Quality? Also can you do a video on a Genos Garage Front Fuel Filter Metallic Cap. Thanks David
Do you drain the front filter? I don’t . Do you oil the O-rings? I did on my first change. Made the ring slide a little easier. I think I will oil the filter housing wall next time. May help more. Thoughts.
Thanks for the video one thing i did find out is that i left the drip hose on as i began to loosen the filter cover and i noticed the fuel that was in the filter housing began to drip out due to more release of pressure. And thus didnt have fuel all.over the place
I have noticed the same the more I do these. Ford is the same as well. They seem to keep draining and don’t stop until you take the filter off….basically a siphon effect happening on those
I had a 12 3500 and the front filter (only one in this model) was always dirty when routine maintenance came around. Now I have the same 19 2500 as in the video. I did both filters when the light came on (7,500) but noticed only the rear filter was really dirty, the front one was still white like new. Do you think it would be ok to switch the rear one every time the light comes on and the front one every other change?
Personally I would do both at the same time. There is a lot we can’t see.....so I would stick to doing the pair and playing it safe. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe
3500 2021 56k the crankcase filter was clogged. I just got the truck. Changed out the 2 filters. They were not too bad. What else should I do knowing it’s a used truck. It’s a dually
Thanks for the videos, you really do a great job of explaining every step! It looks like a 1/4" rubber hose would be the correct size for the drain nipples, is that correct?

Thank you for posting this. I wish they would have changed - improved the oil filter location on this model year too. Either way, I wish you were closer to me, I'd take it to you in that fancy shop!
Nice video. . i have a question did you have a video on how to check a 2009 dodge charger transmission oil. ? I read some about you need to check the temperature of. The oil in order to see the accurate level .. Thanks !
The main thing is you need a special dipstick to check the level. Temp is what you suppose to use and a chart to see if you need to add or remove fluid. Dorman makes a tool for that and it comes with the chart for multiple transmissions models. I dont have a video at this time. But will keep it in mind. Thanks for asking and for watching. Thanks for the information on the priming procedure. I didn't worry about it in the last generation with the CP3 pump, but I do worry about having a proper prime for the new trucks with the CP4. Very helpful
If you use fuel additives to help diesel fuel meet standards for lubricity, you wouldn't have to worry about cp4.
The lift pump didnt run that long on the older models but glad to see it does now. Yeah will have to see how the cp4 holds up.
I think proper priming is the key to avoiding problems with CP4 as well as CP3. Both rely on fuel for lubrication. Another thing to never ever even consider is adding ATF to the fuel system.
