Hi I have one of these Duos, and the smaller docks. This video may actually help me out when I get to do some fixes on mine :) I think its worth checking what the memory settings are set to and that may help with the start up speed, especially if Virtual Memory is on and if the disk cache is set to a weird size. Also if you make sure that the SD is set to the startup disk and that it has networking turned off, this can help as well. It turns out the MacOS versions below 10 can hang the machine a bit while it checks for network connections, even if they are not plugged into anything.
Thanks, that's nice of you to say :) sometimes I wonder if people are bothered outside of the DOS console video, but I guess, I just need to keep doing more
What's happening to the screen is only skin deep, just the front layer of the LCD - the front polariser - is breaking down. Those lines are at 45 degrees because that's the angle of linear polarisation that the front polariser uses. The screens in the 2300c are just as rare as the PB 2300c itself. I have the Toshiba Portege 610CT which uses basically the same panel and they are now really hard to find! The one I sourced from china maybe 3 years ago has already developed vinegar syndrome / polariser breakdown too so I've got to replace the polariser on mine soon as well. It's do-able, just takes some patience to get the original polariser off and clean all the glue away. I found sticky stuff remover does a good job on the glue. The polariser film on a TFT is quite widely available and you can get adhesive and non-adhesive sheets. I just got some non-adhesive gloss linear polariser sheets and they look pretty good on a similar display I just replaced the polariser on.
@@PIPERdotEXE Good news, can barely wait for it. I actually have one of those ripped apart somewhere in a closet. Haven't gotten around to it in years ... hopefully it didn't develop the same display problem in the meantime.
I bought this exact setup brand new when it came out. It was awesome.

I can see this channel blowing up in popularity with the computing community.
Keep it up, do not give up!😊

My power supply popped too. New RIFA sorted it out. Love the detailed video, great watch. Have to get my hands on one of the 2300s.

Great video! Will there be a part 2?
There sure will.... eventually lol, it's like a lot of my videos, I just need to get on and do it
