As a youngster, I used to marvel at the castles at Conwy and Caernarfon, "The Ring of Steel" As you get older, you learn history, now I hate the things. They were built to keep us down.

Took them over 200 years to take Wales. The biggest battles were before longshanks invasions.

I'm soooo confused, even though you explained it so well. It's probably because it's night time, and I should be sleeping, BUT I HAVE A PRESENTATION I NEED TO FINISH!

That does not sound too good. Anyway, good luck with your presentation. Cheers, H

charles windsor must be the last anglo/german to be called "prince of Wales" It is a sick joke that has gone on for far too long. No more, end it as soon as possible. I wish influential Welsh voices would campaign on this issue, because i think the time has come.

Llywelyn the last was the grandson of Llywelyn the great, they were not the same person

You are absolutely right. Apologies if my video led to any misunderstandings.

very infrormative, but its a unique sound "LL in welsh" as is dd,ch
llewyllyn was not the last prince of wales, that was owen glenwdower or owain glyndwr** in 1400-1415..

Thank you for your comment and the additional information. I was not not entirely correct by naming Llewyllyn as the last Prince of Wales, Therefore, thanks for the clarification. Furthermore, I am sorry for mispronouncing the Welch names. My Welch (and Gaelic) language skills are unfortunately near to not existent. Cheers, H

Owain was a noble and not of royal blood,Llewellyn was the last accepted Native Prince.

    • @martychisnall
      @martychisnall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Owain was not of royal blood, the senior claimant based on blood at the time was Owen Tudor and thus Henry VII of England and all future English and British monarchs are the rightful rulers of Wales even if it were independent.

@@martychisnall : this is not at all true.... the tudor family were nobles... too lol, actually * from plasmawr...., there were many claimants for the welsh throne, and the last native recognised prince was : Owen Glenwdower, who had better claim , than the tudors did , via WELSH LAW,...., male inheritance is english law....,
so based on agnatic, eldest female and even illegitmate decent all are possible in welsh laws of king hywell dda .... or howel the good... yes strange almost 21st century : welsh and irish laws of inheritance, were far in advance of their time...
therefore in wales ( male inheritance) is a *alien and foreign concept*, follow britiainshiddenhistory channel for more information on the welsh princes....

Jewish gold was the only reason the English could conquer Gwynedd. And in 1290 Edward I expelled the Jews and massacred them because he couldn't pay his debts.

Llywelyn the Last (Llywelyn II) was not Llywelyn the Great, Llywelyn the Great (Llywelyn I) was the first Prince of Wales.

More than likely because the De Brascoe or De Brewes family were a cadet branch from the De Brus or de Bruce as would have it all mixed up one way or another

Yes ,but much later - during the Welsh war of independence 1400-1412 ,a letter asking for military aid was sent by the Welsh leader Owain Glyndwr to Robert the 3rd king of the Scots - the letter however was intercepted by the English.

@@jardon8636 Yes ,I should've mentioned Glyndwr's French connection (!)- incidentally ,( as you're probably aware- but this is for the casual reader's benefit) some 2,700French and Breton troops were sent over - landing at Milford Haven , and , according to contemporary French sources met Glyndwr who headed an army of 10,000 men ( it must've been an impressive sight ) This Franco- Welsh force eventually invaded England ,going as far as a place called Woodbury hill - not far from Worcester .They faced an English army headed by Henry the 4th on another hill with a valley between them.
      But no battle took place.....
