Mickels I think they couldn’t I don’t exactly know what what the deal between universal and Disney but I think universal just let Disney use hulk and get some money off hulk until they had to give him up
Really, the big problem marvel entertainment had with the mainstream studios owning the film rights to their IPs is those studios refused to represent the characters right, mainstream studios hated the characters, the costumes, and hated the comics, they were ashamed of them and refused to do the stories Feige knew were good, they refused to cross the franchises over, they thought it would never work and they fought Kevin on it. So, Marvel opened their own independent studio to make films of the characters they had left and the rest is history.
i think that was a necessary decision at the time because of batman and robin, i personally think the changes weren't to drastic, which was mostly x-men/fox and not really anyone else

It's a lot more than four per year. DC/WB releases one or two per year (two this year), and there's usually at least one indy comics title per year, like Ninja Turtles, Hellboy, or a manga (this year it's the manga Battle Angel: Alita).

you missed many important things. Marvel had licensed out the film rights to many of their characters to other studios in the 1990s, starting with the X-Men to 20th Century Fox in 1993. You didn’t say it but the reason Marvel can use Kingpin who originally debuted in Spider-Man comics is because he has since become a staple of Daredevil’s pantheon of villains.

They joined the Avengers in... 1965? Okay, the one-year difference justifies them being in the Avengers rights.
At least Spider-Man wasn’t purchased by Michael Jackson resulting in a movie staring Jackson nothing against him… but I honestly don’t know how good a spidey film would’ve been if spider-man sang Micheal Jackson songs every few minutes
Marvel Studios has their properties back for the most part. Disney bout the Marvel properties from Fox just for Marvel Studios to have them back but Disney wanted all that extra stuff they bought...
I really want them to go to court about the rights of the characters and watch some lawyers debate random comic book facts that are all contradictory to prove who owns what.
It's not a contest really, it is theoretically possible for both studios to make great movies. And Marvel's doing better largely because DC is putting out shockingly incompetent movies (other than Wonder Woman which is passable). I for one wish that the DC movies were as good as the Marvel movies.
Infinity War Black Panther Ant-Man and the Wasp New Mutants Deadpool 2 X-Men Dark Phoenix Venom Also you are missing one - Spiderman: Into the spider-verse so 8 marvel movies in 2018
Avengers, Black Panther, New Mutants, Deadpool 2 (technically its marvels now) Antman and the wasp, Venom, Xmen: dark pheonix, plus Spiderman into the spiderverse,
Well now that Disney has boughten all Marvel rights back from Sony we know that X Men and Fantastic Four belong to them But can some please explain spider mans case, is he truly theirs and can they use him in more than four movies or those Sony still own him Somebody tell me if Disney owns Spidey and can they use him as much as they want now
Marvel, she's not connected to Spider-Man or Sony because she isn't a Gwen Stacy, she's just "Gwen Poole". She isn't connected to (at the time) Fox\X-Men\Deadpool, because she isn't a Mutant, or a Deadpool character.
technically Sony has ownership over Gwen Stacey. However that doesn't mean they have the rights to Gwen-pool, which would belong to Marvel. So the two studios would need to work out an agreement.
We got all of marvel characters together in the mcu! (I know some are not introduced but all of the 60.000 marvel characters of the comics exist inside this universe)
Not to be annoying but wasnt Scarlett witch and quicksilvers first appearance in the x-men #4. The reason why marvel was able to use them was Because in total they appeared in more avengers comics and was associated with avengers more than X-men .
That's cuz comic book story's are the only movies that aren't a bs remake I get there remaking some stories used in the comics but that's different & the special effects just makes these movies so real vs back then they was good shows but the special effects weren't even anywhere close
I want Marvel to have the rights to ROM: Spaceknight and the Micronauts for the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). They were part of the MCU (Marvel Comic Universe) in the eighties.
eagc7 Everything in the Marvel comics surrounding those characters were theirs. Especially the stories. One reason why if a Micronauts movie is to be made by Paramount, it won't resemble the comics. ROM won't have the other spaceknights and such also that specifically were from the comics. Bug is owned by Marvel, since he did not resemble the Galactic Warrior toy, and his name was changed by Marvel. It would be so much better if Hasbro just sells the rights or at least make a deal with Marvel. Paramount will likely butcher the Micronauts and ROM.
Its true that Marvel does own soem aspects of those stories, but at the end of the day ROM was never theirs and never will be. Unless Disney buys Hasbro
3 or 4 a year? Marvel produces 4 movies a year alone. Add 2 for DC. Another 1 or 2 comic or related, and then there's at least 7 or 8 comic based series on TV/Netficks etc. This is for superhero genre alone, let alone other time periods or takes on persons arguably with super powers.
This is so confusing... Every character is separated into versions made up by each studio with the rights. The most confusing one is spidey obviously. I like to think 'disney' (Disney-Marvel) ones are the only right versions cause its got most of the characters and more movie potential. I hope one day Marvel can bring back characters like wolverine and the mutants the way they did with scarlet witch and quicksilver. Make room for them in the MCU and them recovering them slowly. If they are now in the universe the same can happen to x-men probably after infinity war.
@Crust Waters we got all The millions of characters marvel got in comics in The mcu including The 60. 000 unknown ones (exept the fox ones of course)so its possible to make them all together
I still can't believe Power Pack is never getting a movie but we get ms marvel. There nothing wrong with ms marvel is just the idea of the young approach works with the power pack
a few other tidbits on the marvel film rights are that deathlok and werewolf by night were at crystal sky productions and killraven was at sony all very obscure marvel characters
The best history/summary I've seen/watched in many years! Also finally acknowledging Constantin Film and F4! However, it's likely unknown but it's still a mystery how the connection to Constantin Film was transferred from Fox to Disney. I hope there's not another Hulk or Namor situation! Only time will tell what's going on.
Hishams Tube Disney wants to make money off of Marvel comics characters, and back in the day Marvel Comics filed for bankruptcy and began selling portions of the rights to different companies, years later its biting them in the ass smh.
I think you messed up on the Spider-Man and Venom part, Spider-Man has his own movie, which is canon in the Marvel universe, and Venom is getting his own movie, still not sure if that is canon...
The real infinity war is Marvel getting all their superheroes back
The Dimension Crosser once they get all their hero's back they'll snap their fingers making half the money in your wallet to disappear.
Disney: fun isn't something one considers when buying large companies... but this does put a smile on are faces
The Dimension Crosser Don't forget villans like Dr. Doom , he deserves to be built up like Thanos in the MCU

Sony may have only one Hero, but thats one hell of a Hero, a Hero with also alot of popular villains.
At least Spider-Man wasn’t purchased by Michael Jackson resulting in a movie staring Jackson nothing against him… but I honestly don’t know how good a spidey film would’ve been if spider-man sang Micheal Jackson songs every few minutes
If you think that's complicated, consider the theme park rights!
Amen!!! Now we can finally see Wolverine, Spider-Man and Cap in the same movie together man 😄😄
Magee Aaron hell yeah
Hmm...there is a lot more heros that joined the Avengers before wolverine did I believe
Even with a few Marvel characters Marvel still manages to whoop DC knowing the DCFail has all of theirs
Dylan Galaz Shut it fangirl I got you shook based off your grammar hahaha got you crying again
BSJ IN YO HOUSE your statement still has nothing to do with this video.
BSJ IN YO HOUSE are you high?
It's not a contest really, it is theoretically possible for both studios to make great movies. And Marvel's doing better largely because DC is putting out shockingly incompetent movies (other than Wonder Woman which is passable). I for one wish that the DC movies were as good as the Marvel movies.
Since Disney now owns both Marvel & 20th Century Fox, is there a possibility to bring the X-men into the MCU?
In 2018 were getting 7 marvel movies :O
Harigan what are they
Harigan Black Panther Infinity War Ant man and the wasp
Can’t remember anything else...
Jeffplayz 1234 I remember deadpool 2 the new venom movie and new mutants and the mcu movies
Infinity War
Black Panther
Ant-Man and the Wasp
New Mutants
Deadpool 2
X-Men Dark Phoenix
Venom
Also you are missing one - Spiderman: Into the spider-verse so 8 marvel movies in 2018
Avengers, Black Panther, New Mutants, Deadpool 2 (technically its marvels now) Antman and the wasp, Venom, Xmen: dark pheonix, plus Spiderman into the spiderverse,
Now the fox and marvel part are together now
I really want a spider 4 movie if it comes out I push everyone out my way saying I've been waiting for this since 2007
*SONY JUST PULLED THE PLUG ON SPIDER-MAN*
Well now that Disney has boughten all Marvel rights back from Sony we know that X Men and Fantastic Four belong to them
But can some please explain spider mans case, is he truly theirs and can they use him in more than four movies or those Sony still own him
Somebody tell me if Disney owns Spidey and can they use him as much as they want now
Gotta be glad we are getting these MCU movies in this day in age where technology makes them look timeless
CGI isn't timeless, even good CGI doesn;t look that convincing after a while. Practicle is always better
So DC is the only one who owns their characters at 100% ???
Who has the Movie Rights to Gwenpool?
I believe Sony does but I’m not sure if they’re sharing the rights with Marvel/Disney like Spider-Man
Marvel owns her
Marvel, she's not connected to Spider-Man or Sony because she isn't a Gwen Stacy, she's just "Gwen Poole". She isn't connected to (at the time) Fox\X-Men\Deadpool, because she isn't a Mutant, or a Deadpool character.
Marvel
technically Sony has ownership over Gwen Stacey. However that doesn't mean they have the rights to Gwen-pool, which would belong to Marvel. So the two studios would need to work out an agreement.
I would love to see Man Thing done properly. Maybe if Venom is successful they will try for more rated R movies.
“Hey can we borrow Spider-Man?”
“Yea”
*dies*
Why can't those companies sell them to Marvel?😔😢
Our dream has become true!
The problem is that ROM and the Micronauts were lincensed characters, thus they were never Marvel's to begin with.
eagc7 Everything in the Marvel comics surrounding those characters were theirs.
You forgot about ROM, I think he is owned by Hasbro.
Disney: *Hold my currency*
This is so confusing... Every character is separated into versions made up by each studio with the rights. The most confusing one is spidey obviously. I like to think 'disney' (Disney-Marvel) ones are the only right versions cause its got most of the characters and more movie potential. I hope one day Marvel can bring back characters like wolverine and the mutants the way they did with scarlet witch and quicksilver. Make room for them in the MCU and them recovering them slowly. If they are now in the universe the same can happen to x-men probably after infinity war.
Also we need original spidey's enemies in Marvel. Imagine Spiderman fighting venom or carnage in MCU...
Makes me wish they had held out on the deal and gotten Spiderman rights back fully from Sony for a little more money.
Now disney owns all the xmen and fantastic four! Comcast stopped trying to pursue the deal today!
I don’t know why it makes me pissed when other companies own super hero characters other than marvel!
So if marvel has the rights to fantastic four and all the characters associated with it, why wasn’t silver surfer in the new avengers??
Why can’t they just put all them together
@Crust Waters we got all The millions of characters marvel got in comics in The mcu including The 60. 000 unknown ones (exept the fox ones of course)so its possible to make them all together
Finally a video where I wont get clickbaited on
I still can't believe Power Pack is never getting a movie but we get ms marvel. There nothing wrong with ms marvel is just the idea of the young approach works with the power pack
Wait a minute I thought Sony owns Ghost Rider
Gonna need to update this in the near future there buddy
Finally,I just want the f4 to get a good reboot in the mcu
a few other tidbits on the marvel film rights are that deathlok and werewolf by night were at crystal sky productions and killraven was at sony all very obscure marvel characters
DUDE!...THANK YOU! GREAT FREAKING INFORMATION!
If they get the hulk rights they have to do a actual planet hulk film & then a team-up like agents of smash
That’s why there hasn’t been a new Hulk Movie! I want to see She-Hulk.
Tristan Needs to make these videos more often.
Thanks to CG!!!!
Why does Disney and other companies want original marvel characters it's marvels people!
Hishams Tube Disney wants to make money off of Marvel comics characters, and back in the day Marvel Comics filed for bankruptcy and began selling portions of the rights to different companies, years later its biting them in the ass smh.
Um Disney is the rightful, longtime and proud owner of Marvel
Inkiad Kabir was looking for that bec thats the answer to my question...
I’ve been looking for someone to explain the rights I’m sure this will be the most viewed video on this channel
This should be renamed Disney owns all of them. Disney owns the rights to all of Fox as well as marvel studios I believe
Actually Wanda and quicksilver were mutants and in xmen comics be the avengers
I think you messed up on the Spider-Man and Venom part, Spider-Man has his own movie, which is canon in the Marvel universe, and Venom is getting his own movie, still not sure if that is canon...
Raid 2 complete, now we must be lvl 2030 to unlock another deal
They should do a MCU Dark....when theres phases in
Rated R Marvel Movies
Ok i have lost my patience Underoos!!
