Hello Farm Family. Thank you for joining us for another upload. In this upload we are sharing our trip to Petals From The Past in Jemison, Alabama. It was a long trip but soooo worth it as we not only were able experience the Antiques In The Garden Event but also the Alabama Homesteaders TH-cam Meet & Greet. If you were not able to make it, hopefully this video gives you a decent recap of the happenings. Thank you to everyone we met for your southern hospitality as well @justdigitfarms for putting together the event & giving us some of their time for a short interview. A huge shout out to Jason & Brooke @CogHillFarm , they say never meet your heroes but those two make that saying false. Thank y'all for taking the time to speak with Egypt & I 😊

I hate that I didn't get to go. It was on my calendar and then I ended up with a few animals that had difficult births and I didn't want to be away from the homestead for the entire day in case intervention was needed.
The Cog Squad are some of my absolute favorite folks and it would have been a joy to meet them. And I didn't realize y'all were going so I would have gotten to meet y'all too! Hopefully everyone nearby can maybe get together a little later this year for another meet & greet. Great video y'all!

I am too! It is so great to see that young teens and kids are involved in homesteading. It will soon be coming full circle. Our kids need to be able to be self sufficient! My autistic son is 13, and loves and plans on farming the rest of his life.
The Farmstead/Homestead is a awesome and growing community network . This really makes me happy and I believe that this is way that we are all supposed to live, growing and raising so much of our own food and feeding our family, friends and community 💥👍🏾

what did Egypt get to bring home? i use a great lesson in financial responsibility: i give them a set amount to spend any way they want. at her age it probably would’ve been $10 (depending on prices at the location). if they need a little more there’s an option to “borrow” more but they pay it back from their allowance with $1 interest. it’s so important for kids to be handling their own money as soon as possible to build financial skills.
(ok i just read that & it sounds so preachy😕. but i’m gonna let it in because maybe somebody will see it who needs this snippet of info 🤷🏻♀️)

Yes, we made it home. Made a day trip of it so close to 15 hours on the road in one day 🥱 but it was so worth it.
