That fridge was a great find. I don't think it a coincident that you had just enough money from the farm stand to cover the cost of the fridge. It was meant to be. I saw another blogger freeze drying eggs the other day. After freezing them, they put in blender to turn to powder. They had fifty powdered eggs in a one gallon freezer bag. They used one tablespoon equivalent to one egg, added one tablespoon of water, and after mixing well, cooked and had scrambled eggs they said tasted exactly like fresh eggs. Good idea for preparing for those times when hens are are not laying.
Brooke & Jason the farm stand has been a great success! You have decorated it so cute! I noticed as you loaded the egg carton that you had your eggs 'pointy' side up. My grandparents were egg farmers (1000 chickens) & sold most of their eggs from the farm. Grandma wiped dirt off and hand packed every carton and was insistent that every egg had to be 'pointy' side down to keep the eggs fresh longer. There is science to that as the egg air bubble inside will lift up with gravity to the pointy end if it is up, closer to the yolk. The eggs will last longer and it is better for yolk if it is evenly distributed with rounded side up so bubble stays down. Modern machines in factory egg production are even programed to do that, but I usually find a few get by if the eggs are very round. First thing I do when I bring my eggs from store home is check them and fix them before putting them in fridge. (Google the science behind it to better understand.) Your channel is at the top of my 'must watch' list and so glad to see you grow so fast! You always provide great content! Love the new nesting box! Time saver!
Love that your becoming even more substainable and willing to serve the community with your egg and veggies stand. Growing up we had chickens and rabbits, we had 3.5 acres and grew everything we could. We canned 600 quarts a season, plus put things up in the freezer.made Jams and jellie too. We also had a stand out front and the sales helped with the cost of school clothes and supplies for five kids. We learned the value of hard work forsure!

It’s really nice that you have honest people visiting your produce stand. I’m not sure it would be like that where I live. Sadly my area is getting worse by the day. Used to be we didn’t have to lock our doors but im afraid those days are over.

I saw another blogger freeze drying eggs the other day. After freezing them, they put in blender to turn to powder. They had fifty powdered eggs in a one gallon freezer bag. They used one tablespoon equivalent to one egg, added one tablespoon of water, and after mixing well, cooked and had scrambled eggs they said tasted exactly like fresh eggs. Good idea for preparing for those times when hens are are not laying.

Brooke & Jason the farm stand has been a great success! You have decorated it so cute! I noticed as you loaded the egg carton that you had your eggs 'pointy' side up. My grandparents were egg farmers (1000 chickens) & sold most of their eggs from the farm. Grandma wiped dirt off and hand packed every carton and was insistent that every egg had to be 'pointy' side down to keep the eggs fresh longer. There is science to that as the egg air bubble inside will lift up with gravity to the pointy end if it is up, closer to the yolk. The eggs will last longer and it is better for yolk if it is evenly distributed with rounded side up so bubble stays down. Modern machines in factory egg production are even programed to do that, but I usually find a few get by if the eggs are very round. First thing I do when I bring my eggs from store home is check them and fix them before putting them in fridge. (Google the science behind it to better understand.) Your channel is at the top of my 'must watch' list and so glad to see you grow so fast! You always provide great content! Love the new nesting box! Time saver!
Love that your becoming even more substainable and willing to serve the community with your egg and veggies stand. Growing up we had chickens and rabbits, we had 3.5 acres and grew everything we could. We canned 600 quarts a season, plus put things up in the freezer.made Jams and jellie too. We also had a stand out front and the sales helped with the cost of school clothes and supplies for five kids. We learned the value of hard work forsure!
Sounds to me like you grew up in an “old school” homestead! The same lifestyle that flocks of families are now choosing to live.

Brooke I'm so glad you started your own page! Now we get to watch your prespective of farm life and we also get double Cog Hill Farm videos❤ Love you guys, the animals, and the farm. You two are great content creators and are just honest, good hearted people and it's nice to see that this world still has people like y'all. I'm a little partial too since y'all are Alabama people lol, alot of my family on my dad's side live in Ft Payne. Hopefully one of our visits will be a time y'all are doing a meet and greet at Petals.
