Bokor is definitely one of my top 5 favorite things about Cambodia. Always visit but never stay the night. Glad you gave the inside look!

Really enjoyed this video! I was surprised at how nice the hotel room was. It's a real shame about the development up there. More and more land is cleared but those ghost buildings sit there unfinished and empty. Adds to the vibe up there I guess.

Likewise, when I was a kid, I remember it used to take hours to go up the dirt road. Fewer buildings, just nature. Back then, you could see the wind moving in the clouds. Not sure if you still see it.

We did a Vlog about a year ago and nothing much has changed. It's a very strange place.
With so much wind up there, they could put small wind turbines to harness electricity. Also, some solar panels.

That done at 29:07 looks like an airplane hanger. A control tower(?) can be seen in the distance off to the right of that dome.
Its some sort of water tower antenna. Theres no place with an airstrip so couldnt be a hanger

Is so sad to see a big hotel and casino like that without people there it so so sad cause it seem like there are no one there seem like a dead haunted place Cambodian people cannot afford staying there this place is only for tourists but I guess it recover from Covid yet cause there no tourist there

I don't know what was on their minds to transform old casino to hotel. There is nothing to see now on Bokor.
That popork waterfall water is really brown colored. Is that a run-off of some chicken farm somewhere?
The majority of rivers/streams in Cambodia are usually brown due to the sediment that is high in minerals. It helps the country by improving soil fertility.

@@CamboVlogs Another reason is the clay content in the soil of Cambodia. The Colorado River is brown due to similar types of sediment. That's why people always say the Colorado river is muddy but in fact, it's not. England rivers are brown due to pollution and rust sediments, that's why many English think brown water is dirty water. In Cambodia and most Southwestern states, it's natural sediments.

Near that row of abandoned terrace houses, is this building that looks like an abandoned aircraft hanger. There's a large hole in the roof and no runway. It looks like it would have more floor space than the central market (phsa thmey, literally translates 'market new') in Phnom Penh. Does anyone know what that building was and why it was abandoned?
I went past that hotel they stayed in whilst there were still covid restrictions in many countries. I drove past the door and was surprised to see that it wasn't abandoned. That seems to be the charm of Bokor at the moment. It's like a mysterious ghost town with more questions than answers.

@@CamboVlogs I went there again last weekend and showed that building to friends. One remarked that he thought the 'hanger' like building looked like a distribution center. A good theory. I can only imagine that they built it before the airport that never happened or something similar.
Anyway, despite all the abandoned houses, they are still building more all over the place up there. Good luck in selling them. Anyhow, catch you latter : )
@Martin Herald despite it being an ugly pile of crap up there surrounding beautiful old colonial and khmer golden era buildings i still love bokor. Its a place thats constantly calling me. I cant quite explain the feeling. Ill go back soon.

The 'old french colonial' building at min 4:30 was Prince Sihanouks dry season residence.
And you can sleep for free at the pagoda, they have also perfect view on the sunrise.
Oh I thought it was the old post office. I know there was a post office/Salon and couple other spots in that area. I though Sihanouks was further up.

I'm the one who invited you before to go to some waterfalls. What is also nice are the Phnom Chhngok caves with the oldest temple of Cambodia inside. A small funai period brick temple, double as old as Angkor Wat. The tunnels are a real adventure to go trough.
Not far from there is also a pool in a cave, sunset over the pepper farms in an infinity pool and few more spectacular waterfalls. For 1-2 weeks I will be here at least, so you are still invited and I can show you the best places around Kampot 🤙🏼
