Hey Tomas! Thanks for your hard work. When Art Academy was given a physical release I ended up going back to my High school to show my art teacher. (Who I knew owned a GBA, and allowed pixel art to be posted on the classroom walls.) She loved it so much, she bought several DSi's for the class to take turns on to use Art Acadamy for study halls. (She had to tape the game into the console because of course video games were not allowed, but I did hear that brain age, and few other exceptions were added later on.)

Wow, that's really interesting! I remember that Nintendo were really pushing the DS as a classroom thing back in the day. I guess they're doing something kinda similar now with Labo!

DuBstepAnDa98 A smartphone whose, game library wasn't infested with an endless amount of ripoffs and ripoffs of ripoffs etc., but rather, a bunch of underappreciated but actual quality content.

Lovely as always! I only played Pokemon Art Academy, but I remember picking it up drawn in by the fun concept but thinking the lessons would be sub-par, but I ended up really impressed at how well it not only implemented but also instructed in a lot of traditional and digital art techniques--and as a professional already knowing how to draw, I still enjoyed it tremendously and really believed that it could genuinely teach beginners in a clear and meaningful way. The series seems like such a gem.

I remember first downloading Art Academy: First Semester on my DSi XL back when I was in high school! And as you mentioned, they did make art lessons fun and easy to follow! I always wondered about the game not having an undo button, but it's so obvious why now! I believe I did not use it too much, as I found it too limited for the kind of art I was aiming to make, but it served as a stepping stone for me in my quest to learn to draw!

First time I saw this software was on a Nintendo booth in Brazil Game Show, and a booth babe helped me to test it. I loved the software, and I SWEAR it had nothing to do with the booth babe.
I bought it later, physically, in a end of generation sale (the 3DS was already around). I really enjoyed learning how to paint with the tools close to real life. I took a digital paint introductory class and managed to make some cool art, although very rough.
Nice to meet the "game" story, with such good presentation and music. Nice job, Thomas! Keep up the good work \o/

      Also, Animal Crossing
      Maybe Pokemon?
      Ace Attorney, of course
Dragon Quest: Monster Joker / Or IX / or in general
      New Super Mario Bros.
Yes, they are the more known games, but I heard already some fun little facts about those gems

    • @ThomasGameDocs
      @ThomasGameDocs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! Ghost Trick is planned, but I'm waiting til I've finished editing Ace Attorney first because they have quite a shared fanbase. As for Animal Crossing, I'm preparing a 4 part series covering each AC game, but I'm waiting to finish and release the video until Animal Crossing Switch comes out. Dragon Quest is a great idea - I'll definitely look into it! I'd also definitely like to make a video about Pokemon at some point, but I want to wait until I have time to properly do it justice. Anyway, thanks for all the ideas!

Sorry, this is itching me right now to rewind back to the old games I played on DS, BUT what could be interesting...
Cooking Mama? Would be interested if there is some kind of dramatic backstory or just a, "hey, lets make a ds cooking game and make it sell well by inputting a woman named 'Mama'".
      WarioWare
      Rhythm Paradise
      Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
      Harves Moon
This shouldn't come forcefull or something, it's just me being nostalgic and suddenly interested in the production process of those weird games

You're right about "we have smartphones now." but what we don't have is a Nintendo or a central "Art Academy" or "brain age" which either you love or ignore. Alone the music in the main menu, maybe easter eggs, there are touches everywhere from the dev. Because there was only _one_ game for one specific thing. On smartphones we have a load of apps for different things, none as good as a simple DS game.

And the franchise unfortunately can't be easily transfered to the Switch either, given the completely different control scheme. And given the lack of any sort of replacement for Miiverse.
