OMG, the Camaros crawlers part was the best part of this video, felt like I was watching a Red Green bit. If they don’t find you handsome they’ll at least find you handy.
William, thanks for that comment. If you're interested, Camaro's Crawlers is featured in many of my videos. Here is a link to a video with several of his bait shop deals, LINK - th-cam.com/video/RGSZd1MwjXg/w-d-xo.html Thanks again, KPO.
Tommy, keep in mind your release clips may be a different style than mine. Some of the newer ones have fixed the problem of unwanted releases. Let me know how the fishing goes with them. Thanks for watching, KPO.
dude, go to a public gun range scoop a couple buckets worth of dirt where people shoot. get some mesh filter the dirt and melt the lead out. use for weights
It's a real springy wire. It wants to stay straight all the time. I got it at a hardware store a long time ago, but I don't know what the main use is or what it's called. Sorry that doesn't help more, KPO.
Thanks for the reply to my question. I was searching around the web and found some wire on Aliexpress...so I ordered some and shall see how it works. Oh, they have the snaps too! I will include the link...not sure if that ok or not...if not just delete it. www.aliexpress.com/item/32836094559.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.f90b4c4dStmM4J
This was one of the best videos I've seen on snap weights. I had a few questions if you don't mind. Let's say I'm using stickbaits with a maximum depth (floating minnows) of about 2 or 3 feet. Does it matter how far back I put my line when I'm just above bottom with the snap weight, will I get a deeper dive with these floaters? Also had another question - could I hang a bottom bouncer with line like you did with the sinker (without the arm) and would it work that way. Also, does the red paint you put on make a difference? Thanks much - best video on this I've seen.
Thanks a lot for that comment Chuck. Well, the stickbaits that dive 2 or 3 feet with say 100 feet of line out will dive the same with 100 feet out behind a snap weight (2 or 3 feet below the depth of the weight). Most baits will dive deeper the more line you let out to a certain point. Now if you use the weight to periodically check for bottom like a bottom bouncer you will run your bait into the bottom. I would think you could use a bottom bouncer like a three way dropper. Seems like it would work. I have to believe the added color helps. One morning I was trolling for walleyes with bouncers and I got a pretty vicious hit. The fish broke me off above the bottom bouncer. I thought that was strange. I tied another on turned the boat around and made another pass through. I got another hit and decided to reel up and check and see if I lost my crawler. When I got the bouncer near the boat I could see a very large pike following behind. The funny thing was this pike was like 2 inches behind the bottom bouncer not the crawler harness. I pulled the whole rig fast to get the harness in front of the pike hoping it would bite. But the pike just sped up and stayed right behind the bouncer. I played like that for about 10 seconds next to the boat but finally the pike swam off. I believe that pike was probably the same fish that bit me off above the bouncer just minutes before. So that pike for sure was attracted by the bouncer. I'm sure fish often are. Except most of the time they don't actually bite the bouncer. But hopefully they see the harness and bite that. Thanks for watching, KPO.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Color really does make a difference I guess as fish are so curious. Your information made total sense and will help me get started this year. Great story about the pike. Tight lines :)
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Will do and thanks. One more quick question for you - could I just buy the clips and use different size bell sinkers or should I buy a kit with clips and sinkers?
Chuck, I guess it depends on if you already have the various bell sinkers or not. If you have all the weights you might use, then just get the clips. But you know if it isn't a big deal on the pocket book it might be easier to just get the kit and be all ready to roll. Thanks again for watching, KPO.
Stefanie, yes I see they have pins in them now. I think that started 5 to 8 years ago with Off Shore Tackle. The ones I had in the video are about 20 years old and as you can see they only had those guide pins which help keep the pads from shifting . So I feel like I was way ahead of the curve on that one LOL. Thanks for adding in, KPO.
I would think if you go back to the shop Ronnie or his Pro Staffer mom would give a full refund plus a dozen free crawlers. Also Ronnie is offering "Bait Dash" services now. It's like "Door Dash" but for his baitshop. Maybe he can "Bait Dash" your refund to you. I'll be running an add for it in an up coming video soon. I'll talk to Ronnie. I don't want my only sponser getting a bad reputation. KPO
For the first 5 mins i thought that bit about Ronnie was just a joke..... but once i figured out he was a real person i became wierded out! Wood ticks? What the hell... freaking weirdos man.
Excellent information! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!

Second and third this.. Ronnie’s ProStaffer mom.. God Speed lol
Support ur local small business owners!!!!! Nice to see. Thx for the simple and informative vids. Great job !.
Rich, thanks for watching, KPO
if you put a shower curtain ring on the release, you can change weights easy and dont need a release for each one
cool
Great information, I just bought a box of snap weights from Scheels and they weren't cheap. $50.00 I definitely don't want to loose any.

Nice video! Thanks for the tips!
No problem!
I just saw this vid. Where did you get the crimp on weights?
Many years ago I bought a kit from Cabelas that came with lots of different weights and wires. You could assemble them to the weight you wanted.
Great explanation! What are you using for wire?
It's a real springy wire. It wants to stay straight all the time. I got it at a hardware store a long time ago, but I don't know what the main use is or what it's called. Sorry that doesn't help more, KPO.

Do the snap weights slip on the line??
No, generally not.
I like the sap weight bottom bouncer. Where can I buy a few of them?
Not sure if you can buy them. I started making these over 20 years ago. Never seen them anywhere else, KPO.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors okay I was hoping maybe you sold them once in awhile

yes

The red ones that I have already have a pin for line to go behind, not sure if its a recent change or what

Have you ever heard of using old spark plugs as dropper weights....lead on spark gap is soft and will let you break off easily.
Never heard of that, KPO.
Where is Camaros Crawlers.?
Deep in the heart of the U.P. Look for the bait shop with a summer and winter Camaro parked outside, KPO.
Hey if you see Ronnie , tell him I'm pissed his mom sold me some crawler harneses with no fricken hooks ..... Just 2 beads and a spinner .

Lead is bad for the😢 environment no light test dropper line.
