  • Bakuchiol a skin care ingredient found in many formulations including Anteage. It is a retinol like compound that is plant based. It uses retinol receptors. Is it better than retinol or are there advantages? Bakuchiol can be used for many instead of retinols.

Try combining it with a good grass-fed liver supplement (sourced from New Zealand preferably) - Liver is high in Vitamin A, as well as loads of other micro nutrients and minerals our bodies thrive on. @@anjaxtv yes!! I was vegan for 5 years and decided I would start adding organ capsules, pasture raised (organic) eggs and fish into my diet to hopefully help bring inflammation down throughout my body + improve my skin/hair! I noticed right away I had an insane amount of energy and my hair had finally stopped falling out. About a month later I noticed the pain I’d coped with from my scoliosis for years had subsided!! I’ve now been consistent with taking these products and eating this way for over 2 years now and have been able to maintain these benefits. If you’re vegetarian I would recommend incorporating Sun Warrior’s Vegan Collagen supplement, Ghee butter, Shilajit, Pearl Powder and Eucommia Bark! Unfortunately there are no vegan/vegetarian alternatives that will be able to come close to the benefits organ and gland therapy can provide for our bodies, but these are extremely beneficial as well!!! :)

One doctor stated she doesn't recommend retinols on the face due to their drying effects on the delicate meibomian glands, and I literally laughed out loud when I read that! I couldn't imagine life without retinol and have been using them for 20+ years. This video is great news if bakuchiol really is a viable alternative, and I'll be interested in learning more. I have been using retinol for a few years but I got tired of the side effects dryness, irritation, peeling and redness. I decided to try some different products instead. One of them was the inkey list bakuchiol 1%. I used it at night for 2 months. My skin stayed glowy and hyperpigmentation kept away. But it didn't help me with oiliness and acne and the fine lines began to return. I know they say to use it twice a day, but then one bottle would have only lasted a month so it's not that affordable then. Back on retinol because I think it's more anti aging and works better for my skin issues. Lately I've been using only adapalene AKA differin with fantastic results and less side effects than retinol. My skin looks better than it has in years at age 45. I do think that the inkey list bakuchiol is a good one, just not the same as retinoids. I wonder if the percentage was higher if it would work better.

I used to be on a micro encapsulated form of Retin A at the strongest dose (.1%) and while it didn’t make me flake or anything, no irritation, I felt that I was getting some broken capillaries. However, I didn’t want to get off of it because it was really improving my suuuuuper oily skin. I started using Altreno, which is a .05% strength, but this form of Retin A also has hyaluronic acid, soluble collagen, and glycerin. I LOVE this product. I’ve heard that Retinaldehyde - especially the Osmosis variety- does just as good of a job without broken capillaries.

    It's bakoooochiol to me.... hehe
Personally I love it 💜 and it has visibly improved my skin, it's glowier with a reduction in fine lines etc... I read recently that combining the two could be effective too as bakoooochiol can help to calm some of the side effects of retinol, or at least they can be alternated to give your skin a break from whatever irritation retinol may cause... I've just ordered my first ever retinol cream to upgrade my night time skin care rituals and I was planning on doing exactly as you mentioned and alternating. I've been using bakuchiol for around a year and can't wait to see the results of using the two together 😊 I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas Dr Rajani and all the best for the New Year!

Maybe once real life takes off again. I do pay just a 10.00 copay for my tretanoin, this helps!! New insurance company rocks! 😉😆
Would love to try as I can't use retin a every night. I've tried for years. I continue to use it, but every 3rd night, and in a moisturizer sandwich. This is what my esthetician told me to do.

Dr. Rajani, what are your thoughts on granactive retinoid aka hydroxypinacolone retinoate? I’ve been using it instead of retinol for a while but as you know it can be hard to discern cause and effect when you’re using multiple anti-aging products or treatments.
Everything I’ve read about it seems really promising, but as a layperson there’s a limit to what I can understand when going over the research and whatnot

I have been using retinol for a couple of years. At one point I got tired and frustrated with the dryness, irritation and peeling, so I decided to try the ordinary granactive retinoid emulsion. I really liked the actual product but after using a whole bottle in about 2 months, I noticed that the fine lines began to come back and my acne became worse. I couldn't tolerate retinaldehyde so I switched to adapalene aka differin. That is smoothing out the fine lines again and works great for my acne. My skin actually prefers the adapalene rather than the retinol. Less side effects now that I have adjusted. I don't believe that the granactive is good for antiaging from my experience.
