Richard, great video and thanks for the Polestar Update. I was lucky enough to be a 1 of many winners of a day with Polestar down at Farnborough air ground, via the 'Fully Charged' channel, where as you can probably guess, driving the Polestar 2 around. This was back in October. To be perfectly honest, I wished Polestar would take a leaf out of Audi's book and cane-it, as you're Audi reviews have proved, are probably superior in changing, even over a Tesla. I would so love one, but what holding me back is the crazy 'drop-off' in charging speed, too soon. The car you were driving in this video, is it an absolute recent vehicle and new in the last couple of week or...??? The reason I say this, you mentioned and disliked the fact that the router planner via google maps highlighted low speed charges.... fair enough, but back on March 30th, Polestar & ABetterRoutePlanner formed a partnership and you can now use the BetterRoutePlanner app, free as part of Polestar's initial 3 years offering. if you could have done, why didn't you select to use that instead. Hi have you tested the updated the polestar 2? im looking at one compared to the model 3 highland as it works out much cheaper so wondered what you thought.
I think that once the Canadian revised version with heat Pump option comes out (I checked with Polestar Canada and that option should be available in July this year), it would likely be a very good candidate for a mid to upper level EV!
The Teslas have a significantly lower coefficient of drag, so they'll always be more efficient. The larger rims and wider tires of the Polestar 2 Performance are also less efficient. I drive a Polestar 2 Performance and love it. Range and charging speeds aren't as good as the Tesla, but it hasn't been a problem for me.
What sort of price are these in the UK, as spec'ed here? The range seems similar to the SR+ with performance more like the Long Range so in comparison to those 2 would be interesting.
Polestar £50k so same as model 3 LR. Sr is jsut over £40k. There’s a video we help carwow with comparing sr, Lr and polestar. Search carwow channel and you’ll see c
I almost went Polestar but they’ve recently put the prices up and for the same spec as the launch version it’s now about £3k over the Tesla Model 3 LR so I went with one of those!
I really like it. I had a Polestar 2 for an overnight test drive, non performance version. Still handles well enough and was comfortable enough. I like the minimal approach inside and out. I only got to test charge it on a 50kw that I had to share, so only got 36kwh but that wasn't the cars fault. Based on what you have shown there it could charge better. But the interior space up the front, is a no go for me. A long trip would be just to cramped in it. Pity!
Me and the Mrs are both Tesla shareholders and fans. Would have loved a model 3 but there are a few issues. First is Tesla's PCP offering. 10k miles minimum. We don't need such a large amount of miles. Not a dealbreaker as you get that back at the end of the PCP, but results in higher monthly payments. Bigger issue is insurance which killed the deal for us. £3k to insure the Mrs on an SR! Test drove an SR PS2 with 20 inch wheels. Ordered one but with 19 inch wheels for comfort and efficiency. Don't need the range as get by with our LEAF 40 fine. Added plus and pilot packs, and also our favourite colour, rubber mats for winter although it does come with fabric mats. I also liked that I can add bells and whistles to the standard range car which I can't do with Tesla. would happily add the kit in the LR version but I don't need the range. Makes no sense to haul around extra mass for no reason. It's a great option for those with insurance issues, binnacle withdrawal syndrome, or those who don't need supercharger access. Tech wise its the only car to come close to Tesla, and a good consideration for anyone stepping away from ICE cars.
Not at all. It's a fastback sedan that has maybe an inch more ground clearance than most sedans. It's not very big or tall. The way to tell is put it next to an XC40, its sister car (the basis of this car is the Volvo Concept 40.2 where the XC40 is the Concept 40.1). The XC40 towers over the Polestar 2. It's not a tall vehicle.
FYI, The Tesla autopilot can be reactivated by putting the car into park. No need to get out or lock the vehicle - just put it in park and back into Drive.
Excellent video, intrigued to follow the Polestar journey as I've shortlisted this between that the model 3 when I switch. Still not convinced despite being a long standing Volvo fan. Tesla seems like it is still ahead in the game.
You need to drive them both yourself. I did and chose the polestar2. I value comfort and build quality over pure tech. I have never had range anxiety or worried about charging.
@@lee_carter what did you go for in the end? And, if you do / did have the time to slacken off those Ohlins dampers on the Polestar and re-run your journey, an update on that would be excellent, too - perhaps that would make all the difference and give you both style and comfort. With current battery tech, if its not solid state tech or better, I don't even wanna be seen in any e-car. Not worth my mental health 😁, having distance anxiety is like holding in diarrhea in traffic.
Tesla rat, focus on what this car is better engineering quality and true premium ALL put together, PERIOD!!! Tesla is only now 4 car's later learning in CHINA and let's hope in Germany because in USA is a sloppy circus for ZOMBIES fans.
I’m not. Just giving my opinion and being honest. If you can’t be truthful what’s the point… I can criticise a Tesla easily too. But in terms of things like efficiency and charging especially, the polestar falls short. I think I’m quite clear that there are quite a few things I DO like though, and overall it’s not bad and will suit many.
Evotricity “which probably doesn’t work anyway” way to perpetuate a stereotype! I have a CHAdeMo EV I have never arrived at an ecotricity that didn’t work. That type of talk puts people off EV’s come on don’t be so biased! Shame on you!
I think it’s a stereotype for a reason, the problem was the idea that national network promised so much for early adopters and the sting of being left abandoned by it was therefore keenly felt and leaves a scar. It’s definitely much better than it was and Chademo seems more reliable than the CCS ones (probably from the Nissan link) but for me even with improvements of recent years I’m still only averaging around 50% success rate. Back in 2015 I had one journey where 3 different Ecotricty sites had no working chargers. It’s definitely better since then but I still worry if I have to rely on one. Luckily there are so many options now that would be a rare thing and now they are used they seem to be getting better and better. Plus the old ones are being swapped out. The tie-in with gridserve should mean we will see them as one of the best networks soon, and it’s good to you have had an all positive experience, let’s hope that increases for everyone.

It doesn’t charge slower than a Tesla model 3 actually it’s faster on average but the changing curve is so weird in the PS2, it goes up and down a lot. The Tesla is more efficient though.
Tesla model 3 most certainly charges faster I’m afraid. Been an owner of them for a long time
@@RSEVI saw these two videos a while back. The polestar charges faster, one minute in total time more but more in kwh.

Needless to say they are quite similar when it comes to charging
At 5:11 ... what no "Audi mode" ... eek ... all those who won't be buying this car!
great car but it’s at well over 2 tons it’s so so heavy, weighs the same as a Tesla Model 3 plus 5 adults! As a result of the weight, even though it has a good-sized battery, the range is not good.
Love the look (best of the legacy cars???)
Nice *looking* interior.
Seems let down the the battery/ management (/drive?) systems at the moment, compromising range, charging and interior packing.
*Potential* to be close to Tesla.
6.5/10
5:25 All the BMW and Audi drivers going "Pshh, half a car length is enough... and we don't need an indicator." Mr. Musk, if you want to use "the best part is no part" rule, save a few bob on BMW and Audi drivers and remove indicators.
Very interesting channel. One suggestion: better articulation. You speak kinda fast and have a slight accent which makes it harder for non-english speakers to follow.
Learning to balance. I’m only amateur 💁♂️
You have to speak faster than normal on camera I think… seems more boring otherwise. Things seem to slow down!
@@RSEV good job nonetheless!
With current battery tech, if its not solid state tech or better, I don't even wanna be seen in any e-car. Not worth my mental health 😁, having distance anxiety is like holding in diarrhea in traffic.
Am investing in Crypto now, this dip is a clear sign for new investors to come in💃
Yea this is absolutely the best time to buy and invest
Perfect you buy when the market is low to get profit when it re rises
I wanted to trade crypto but got confused by the fluctuations in price
@@VikasSharma-qt1np that won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Charles Daniel.
Trading crypto with Expert Charles Daniel has been a game changer for me
The lanekeeping and speed control seem at least as useful as the Tesla offerings.
First test drive with jogger nipples :)
Tesla rat, focus on what this car is better engineering quality and true premium ALL put together, PERIOD!!! Tesla is only now 4 car's later learning in CHINA and let's hope in Germany because in USA is a sloppy circus for ZOMBIES fans.
too expensive
Meanwhile XPeng has a car that is doing 11kWh real world.
You are a Tesla man so stop cretesize other cars.
I’m not. Just giving my opinion and being honest. If you can’t be truthful what’s the point…
I can criticise a Tesla easily too.
The tie-in with gridserve should mean we will see them as one of the best networks soon, and it’s good to you have had an all positive experience, let’s hope that increases for everyone.
i really don't get the hype for this car. the exterior is questionable and the interior is dog shit. Tesla for life.
Really don't get your opinion.
You're giving us Tfb's a bad name.
@@rogerstarkey5390 couldn’t give a fuck mate
Tesla bad quality, p2 much, much better!
You probably haven't been in one or driven one.
The interior is far better than a Tesla and the exterior is better looking and more practical too.
@@sandersson2813 driven the performance it’s dog shit. Same with its interior 🤷🏻♂️
