Amazing. Enjoy your car man. I get deliver of my Polestar 2 next week and also made an order for a Polestar 4. Gonna trade in my P2 when I get my polestar 4😁
I had a polestar 2 with the performance pack for 18 months and 15k miles. It is a great car - very comfortable and quiet. It could be more efficient, but in practical day to day driving it’s plenty good enough. I will be buying another Polestar in the future.
I love my Polestar 2, just got home from a long trip to the coast, so comfy and such a nice drive. 400 mile round trip, came back windy mountain 2 lane roads, the headlights are just unreal, they flood the highway and road edges with the cleanest light ive seen.
Exactly the same as the car I have been driving for 2.5 years - a black '70 plate with the option wheels. Love it ! ⚡👍 My charging running costs is less than 2p a mile - 99.9% of my charging is done at home, either offpeak overnight at 7.5p, kWh, or on my home solar when it's sunny.
As a lorry driver, auto dip and matrix headlights are the work of the devil 😂 well in some circumstances. Due to being sat high up, you can see quite clearly the matrix beams working, it's very impressive. But unfortunately, many of them are too slow to react, but from experience I can say the Polestar and Volvo ones are amazing and as I said impressive to witness it doing their thing driving towards them. I will be buying a Polestar2 eventually, to replace my diesel V60, in the meantime I use my wifes i3S for commuting and and town driving as I'm fortunate to have free charging at work so keep my diesel use to long journeys generally.
Test driving a Polestar 2 tomorrow, so finding this was excellent timing!… 👍🏻 Enjoyed the delivery and all aspects of what you covered, thank you… 👏🏻 Just need to be selective on the Specifications now, as all the tech you covered was simply awesome - may have to rewatch this in the morning… ✅ 🤪
I was wondering about the fuel prices because everybody tells me about the savings when they switched to electrical. Think I realize our rates are very different. In Ontario, if you charge at home during off-peak hours, it's 8.7 cents/KWh, which is about 5p/kWh in GBP. Much cheaper than the 34p/kwh
Best polestar 2 review I've seen with great information. I'm quite keen on this car but the efficiency isn't good enough yet. I really hope you do a long trip review with the latest version of polestar 2 as they say it's 22% more efficient which still needs to improve but will be interesting to see how different the same trip would differ. Great video 👍
Had my Polestar for a couple of years now with no time in a petrol/diesel car. Had to move the wife's A1 off the drive last week and I could never go back to a manual petrol car, seems so clunky. Just sit in the Polestar and off you go...at speed 😀
Another interesting exploration of modern car tech - the Polestar seems like a very nice car if you spec if right and can live with the inefficiency. You have a very relaxed yet informed delivery Martin which I enjoy a lot - keep up the good work!
Our EQC also has similar adaptive LED lights - this sort of system is very impressive, and as more cars get this, it makes you wonder whether this will filter down to be a standard mid-range feature for future vehicles.
You drove a route I drive regularly. In winter I get around 31-33kWh/100miles. That allows you to get to Moto Wetherby. With that stop you can then get Peterborough Ionity. If you had done that your costs would have been a lot less. Polestar gets Ionity at 30p/kWh.
We charge on Octopus Go at night at 9p/kWh. On Friday we paid £2.52 for 100 miles. However we donated 13.2kWh back to Octopus at 8p/kWh from our solar so we paid 1.4p/mile even in winter. It would be even better if we on Intelligent Octopus but I don’t think it is worth the £1000 compatible charger as we don’t drive enough miles in our two EVs.
Lost count of the number of P2 reviews I have watched. As a techno geek this is streets ahead of the others, though clearly not as funny as Carwow. Thank-you so much! You have increased my priority on getting a home charger before delivery of the MY2024 car, single motor, long range
I enjoyed test driving a Polestar 2 AWD apart from the driving position which felt a bit cramped because of the overly and unneccesarily large centre console. FWIW for me its a competitor to the Model Y not 3. ETA one of the irritating things was there were one or two things i wanted, cant recall what, and i had to buy two expensive add on packs which bumped the price up considerably to equivalent to a Model Y.
Burger King's Impossible Whopper is the way, sir. Thanks for the great review! I'm concerned about that electricity cost where you live. In the US, I believe it costs about $4 or $5 per 100 miles to charge a Tesla, so your trip would be about $16 to $20.
So Martin this is the $64,000 question. Polestar 2 AWD or Model 3 LR and why? Personally I like the fact you can spec some really desirable options with the Polestar whereas Tesla take a rather arrogant view that you get what you are given unless you want to pay dearly for a choice of paint, interior colour or wheels. Tesla do however have it nailed with their Supercharger network and the M3 is much more efficient.
Pixel lights are amazing -- yet in the USA we cannot have nice things because of our DOT standards -- they are so outdated. I love the Polestar 2 -- getting one in August. I hope the states finally allows the pixel update. so ridiculous.
I'm a Lyft driver in the San Francisco bay area and I love them it's a whole new experience in night driving although they do tend to fail in suburban areas due to car reflectors etc. but for late night twisties, they sure are impressive!
Great car, but the efficiency would put me off. I recently did a 200 mile journey in my Model Y and got 3.9miles/Kwh with heating set to 20 degrees and outside temps 5 degrees. Fantastic review, so informative.
I regularly used to leave Edinburgh at lunchtime. Was at home in Portsmouth by 7-8pm (476miles, 762km). Just a 5 minute stop for fuel. Progress is a subjective concept. Your costs and mpg for a diesel ICE are grossly inaccurate. My Mazda 2 skyactivD delivers 70 mpg at 75 mph, 85.6 at 65mph. NOT 31 mpg. That would be a fully laden transit van. Diesel is 1.45/li. I get a running cost of 7.5-9.2p/mile. That journey would have cost 38.60 and not involved a stop at all, let alone 2. Why did you not include the charging time in the total journey time? 2.7miles/kWh is seriously unimpressive. Should be 3.5. If you want an EV but cant charge it from solar or off-peak power, but a modern diesel.
you surely need to charge at home if you want decent electricity costs. otherwise the prices are all over the place with gaps of 1GBP for the same speed. governments should regulate all that crap. subscriptions can help but in the end home charging is always the best solution for day to day charging
Home charging is definitely the cheapest (and most convenient) way of running an EV, however keep in mind the additional upfront cost of fitting a home charger + possible maintenance down the road... For people with no access to AC charging, we recommend Teslas. They are efficient vehicles for their respective segments and combined with the very competitive energy prices at Superchargers, they show that an EV can still work even without a driveway.
@@wiselyauto yes the cost is indeed quite big but i personally opted for a P17 industrial plug which only costs 50€ and i used the service of a normal electrician. all together the cost was around 500€ and i can charge at 7.4Kwh and 32A with the help of an adapter that i plug on my provided charging cable. It’s just a plug, a fast one but just a plug. So if it wears out, i change it. Yes in some countries, some insurances do not cover you but if you make it installed by a good electrician, nothing bad can happen. if you go for a wallbox and you get it installed by a certified EV electrician, then they make you pay like 2500€ for the same thing. And it’s ridiculously abusive. You must charge for 5 years to have a ROI. But before doing that i considered charging on the public road. Just 40m way from where i live i can charge outside for 0.4€/kwh with a speed of 7Kwh with Plugsurfing card which i got with my car or Chargemap. So with a rate that is not so far from home ones. Thanks god, absolutely no need for Tesla. At least in the city where i live. I don’t know in the UK but in EU, the AC solution are becoming really more than enough compared to the number of EV.
Might just be me, but my SM Long Range 2022 model easily gets under 30kwh/100 miles at 70 on the motorway, although we are in the tail end of summer at the moment.
The single motor versions are definitely the ones to go for if you are after efficiency. We have seen numbers as low as 18 kWh/100 miles when driven gently at speeds below 60 mph in the SM LR we had in stock a while back.
@@wiselyauto I’m going to try 65 on my next long journey and see how much difference it makes without adding massive time to it as well. 25 is my golden figure for 4 miles per kWh, anything more than that in normal usage would be a bonus!

I take delivery of my Polestar 2 in a couple of weeks. This video is without doubt the best real life review I’ve seen. The lights look amazing!

Love the polestar. I get my P2 2024 next week and also made a order for the Polestar 4 🚗💨
Thanks - it really helped me get a good feel for the capabilities of the Polestar 2. And the demo of the active matrix headlights was great.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support and are pleased to hear you found our content helpful :)

Wow, I didn’t know what the fuss about the pixel matrix LEDs was till I saw your video! Very impressively covered!

Quite a review.
Volvo have a reputation for Juicy EV’s as per Bjorn Nyland. Your comments clearly make a great case for this machine.
Our EQC also has similar adaptive LED lights - this sort of system is very impressive, and as more cars get this, it makes you wonder whether this will filter down to be a standard mid-range feature for future vehicles.
Why do so many reviewers not list the year model in description for Polestar 2s?
You drove a route I drive regularly. In winter I get around 31-33kWh/100miles. That allows you to get to Moto Wetherby. With that stop you can then get Peterborough Ionity. If you had done that your costs would have been a lot less. Polestar gets Ionity at 30p/kWh.
Brilliant detailed video!🎉
Thank you for your great review! I love this car!!!The styling, fit and finish, and fun driving experience Make it my favorite EV. Great job!
Whoops, just realized matrix headlights are legal in the US now! Thanks for the awesome demonstration.
I have Matrix headlight at my Enyaq. I love it!
Excellent review, would appreciate some more comparison. Eg Volvo XC40, XC90 etc
Ok the matrix LED lights are so cool. I hope that feature comes to the US soon with an update, now that it's legal.
Interesting video on a cool EV! 👍🏻 The quality of your video footage is also really good - what camera are you using for the outside shots?

My adaptive lights in my Prius Prime didn't work well. They would even turn off when it saw lights from homes or restaurants.
Does BMW i3 have 2 or 3 levels of headlight trims? Why some i3 instrument clusters have AutoHighbeam bulb?

I turn lane assist off. I don't like the car counter steering if I'm trying to avoid a hole in road.
Agree. If you you don't want to steer the car yourself catch the bus

I just got a new polestar 2, I get 3,8 miles per kilowatt

85p/kWh? Yikes! Makes me feel good about $0.30/kWh I pay for the 50 kW DC unit in the public garage below my condo.
The 310 mile 2024 version is the go to right now but for americans probably best to wait until they come out with the tesla charging port
