    I've been doing your exercises for about a month, there were days I missed but I can feel I became clearer, moreover I can see person I'm talking to listening to me much more carefully than they used to. I've heard a couple compliments on my speech as well. Thank you!

    I highly agree when you said the way you speak is directly related to how you were brought up. All members of my family talks in a high tone because our parents do.
    This video is by far the most useful video i came across to help improve the way I speak. Subscribed, and thank you.

    I'm glad you touched on accents. I have a split accent due to where I was born and where I was raised. I was born in the north US and raised in the south. I had lots of older relatives that migrated south with my family. I have my northern relatives accents as well as my southern peers. I've come to realize it makes me sound pretentious sometimes.

    • @Voiceovermasterclass
      @Voiceovermasterclass  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We’re actually considering creating a whole course on helping people change or get rid of their accent, do you think this would be something that would interest you?

      I have a split accent as well. I was born and raised in the south and then moved to the Midwest as a preteen. In the Midwest, people can hear a southern accent. In the south, people can hear a Midwest accent.

    Do you think over-enunciation can backfire? Some might say it sounds robotic.

    • @Voiceovermasterclass
      @Voiceovermasterclass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very rarely will it backfire; just have the confidence to keep the effort up for enunciation where you know the listener is taking everything in. Also if you talking to someone who has not got English as a first language a good tips is to speak at the same speed as they reply to you. Good luck Peter

    My father was on the stage when I was a child so diction isn't the issue but I very much appreciated your tips. I have access to a recording machine and have been encouraged to record my books on audio. My question is 'what do I do if I make a mistake in reading?' Do I just leave a pause and go back later. How difficult is it to repair after?
    Many thanks

    • @Voiceovermasterclass
      @Voiceovermasterclass  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You will make many mistakes and also want to re-do sentences when you know you could do it better. Don't worry, even the top professional audiobook narrators stop and start. An audiobook isn't "live" on the radio, so you need to leave gaps so on playback on your audio waveform editor you can see the areas that need tidying up. It's easy using free software like Audacity or paid ones like Adobe Audition. To erase, you simply highlight the section you wish to delete, then click DELETE. You can "undo" this with CONTROL + Z, but if you are sure click FILE>SAVE. For more information and advice, check out the training courses at www.VoiceoverMasterclass.com There is an audiobook production course here: www.voiceovermasterclass.com/voice-acting-course/ Best wishes, Peter Baker
