An absolutely stunning and powerful transcription by G. H. Federlein of Rachmaninoff's, Prelude in g minor, originally written for piano, and impeccably registered and performed by Nathan Laube on the beautiful Joerg Glebe Organ. Besides the piano, which it was written for, this transcription makes use of the many voices available on this organ. The piece is so well done that it could have been written for the organ. The organ uses a compilation of ranks from the Sonas Paradisi, Caen, St Etienne. Cavaillé-Coll, St Omer Cavaillé-Coll, and St. Domenico Dom Bédos in Rieti, (Harp from (Unsure or sample set) Hereford Cathedral; Chimes from Milan Digital Audio, Milan Digital Audio, Masterworks 331 Wurlitzer [not used for this recording), all combined to create a single very well appointed and compete organ was done with with surgical precision. by Jeorg Glebe. Remarkable installation and an instrument that clearly holds its own weight.

Hard to 'out-do' the original piano version. But this does just that! Outstanding. Lover the registrations and the middle section works a treat with the strings and flute/diapason counter melody. Nathan is an inspirational recitalist. Spot on video!

[Ah, if only more of those lovely preludes were available to be played on the organ...] Otherwise, really good - beautifully played and very musically rendered!!! And, for an electronic, it sounds truly FABULOUS (though I've no doubt that pipes will always be better...)!!
You should have been there. The rendition of a YT Video ist just too restrictive. I have heard it on site with Joerg's studio monitors and a washing machine sized sub. That was another experience! Nothing may sound better than a pipe, true… but most churches are just acoustical desasters.
