Lisa Hummel is playing the Hauptwerk organ of Joerg Glebe in a live concert on the 28th of March 2015, using the sample set of the the organ in Rotterdam.

This is so extremely beautiful, enchanting and haunting. It has always been one of my favourite pieces of organ literature. Alain was so wonderful a composer and Durufle pays him great homage with this music. My Son, too, was taken way too young.
I have seen many recordings of this work and have always, hands down, come back to this one. It comes off as the most expressive interpretation of this magnificent work in my very humble opinion.
Thomas Ospital's recording at Saint-Eustache is stunning but there is something indefinably special about Lisa Hummel's performance. Like you I keep coming back to it.

This work is just such a wonderful tribute to Jehan Alain, by his friend Maurice Duruffle. There a number of fine recorded performances on wonderful CC Organs. In my humble opinion this, performance on a different organ, is right up there amongst the best.
This is a very musical and masterful performance of this piece, especially the fugue, which is often played too fast and agitated. Lisa's interpretation is beautiful.
This work is astounding. There are lots of recordings of this on TH-cam and this one shines out to me. Very beautiful playing. RIP Jehan Alain. He had the potential to be one of greatest composers of the 20th century. He had such an amazing, unparalleled grasp of harmony, and deep emotional maturity, to die at the age of just 29. Such a tragedy.

It’s an incredible beautiful, sensitive, accurate and inspiring performance of a piece that every serious organist knows (even if they haven’t mastered it themselves). One of my dreams as a young organist was to learn this great piece. I recommend listen to Marie-Claire Alain play her brother’s great work Littanies , and then listen to this. It is so satisfying and when you know Littanies, then you get how great Durufle’s tribute to Alain is. Love it.
FABULOUS. Just the right combination of rigour, lyricism and colour. So very difficult to achieve; such a hard composer to understand and articulate well! Complete and utter success, and my favourite performance to date.

Beautiful performance of a stupendous work by a lovely musician. The additional frame insert showing the pedal work is a great plus here and indicates how difficult this piece must be to play.
I was (trying to) follow along in the Durand score - the first organ score I've ever looked at - and have gained a new respect for organists. Keeping up w/ the notes is hard enough and then the stop settings on top of that (the French abbreviations elude me)... Holy cow!
Lisa Hummel Great interpretation I like the delicate rubato particularly at the beginning of the fugue - allowed it to breath rather than the usual metronomic style performance

I remember a time when I thought there never could be a substitute for a real pipe organ. I now stand corrected and a better educated man. Excellent performance.
It's not really a substitute for a real pipe organ as all the sounds are recorded from the actual organs - so it's as true a representation of real pipe organs as modern technology can create, and as you say, it' pretty good!

I have never heard a more luscious and beautiful performance of this splendid piece since hearing Mme Duruflé play it many years ago.

The fugue at 06:45 is the most wonderful and mysterious organ piece I know.
Somebody called it "the most beautiful fugue not written by Bach". I do agree.
