I got a 70' C10, and I gotta say at first I couldn't handle what happened to that Mint Truck, but after hearing it start up and Romp down the streets I gotta give it to you man, Amazing Build, Goodluck and keep up the Great Work!
So, we need a sequel Bill. What happened with this bad boy in the last four years? Thanks for the inspiration on a new steering rig for my 1973 Hornet. Yep, you heard me right. The same car we rebuilt in your garage in December, 1997. ATB, Mike.
love this build. You really got busy with it. looks incredible! btw-people who hate on other's builds generally can't put a lego car together let alone the real thing.
love the truck some serious work done.. I have been doing stange things to cars for years airbags and mostly setting up the geometry is would be intimidating.. maybe ad a link to a website on setting this up and making it all work right.. driveshaft angles. ect.. again awsome build!
Rad!! On fire man. I know you didn't like the Ridlers on you're c10 and ended up changing them out. But I dig them. Did you have any fitment issues with them? I know the front backspace isn't optimal in the them for a bagged c10. I'm running a PB dropmember with MMW arms and ECE drop spindles. Wondering what your thoughts were.
hotrodsinner914 no wheel fitment issues at all. The control arms are 1 inch narrower than stock, spindles are .75 inch narrower than stock, and rear end is 1.5 inches per side narrower than stock. the truck is a lot different than this video. I have had 4 other sets of wheels on it, I painted it, did the interior, wood bed, cammed the engine, and installed 3.73 Gears and a posi.
WEIRD!!!! after watching this video..i suddenly had the urge to go out into my garage and sawsall the cats off my 02 6.0L silverado and drive it around the block real quick!
Sick truck by the way. I've got a 69 c10. 72 c20. 55 chevy and 2 66 mustangs. Classics are the way to go, wish to get to your level though. Do you gave the camber and caster set a ride height with you truck on, or its always changing?
Caster is set at 4.1 left and 4.6 on the right. Camber is -.1 each and to is .1 total all at ride height which is 5" off the ground. At 1.5" off the ground I'm at about -1.2 camber but it toes in a lot.
Lol yeah some civics and chrusyler Sebrings I'm assuming. Plus the stupid element. Those Fords with the bushing tho Man, I just can't get them. Granted I've been doing it under year but even with after market camber and caster adjustment they won't go into spec. And tips?
Most of the 05 and up that drift right need a 3/4 cam. I install them on the left side. Most factory cams come with caster at .12 camber at .4. Install the 3/4 cam with the slot out and forward so you are adding camber and decreasing caster. It will normally give you a .7 caster split. I recommend always going with the bushing 1 size smaller than what you think it should be.
Because I did a body drop yes a little massaging of the floor. I cut the shifter bracket, shortened it and moved it back because the 4l80e is wider and longer than a 400.
Swap was super easy. Definitely worth doing. A 5.3 I've heard feels quicker when mated with the 4l60e trans because it does take as much power as the 4l80e does. The 6.0 has a lot of torque.
Cesar courrech Yes sir. I like to try to do that so when I carry a spare bag, it will fit front or rear if I have a problem. I drive long distances and don't want issues.
Dude I feel you. I get a lot of prerunners and cherokees with modified suspension. A lot of dropped Hondas but they don't want to pay to play but they went the cheap route and cut coils. Fords I hate only cuz the customer says "well why do I have to change my coil/springs blah blah blah" yet their shock absorbers have been through hell and back and over lades the damn things lol. The easiest are chevys, gmc, cadillac, toyota, nissan, and honda. Ford and Chrysler are mo fos
I can see your point. I hate Hondas and Chryslers with firewall mounted racks. I used to align limos, racecars, show cars, and all kinds of shit when I lived in Southern California, so fords are easy.
I removed the studs from the brake pedal assembly, drilled holes to line up the Mustang booster, shaved the firewall, drilled a new hole for the rod to go through, and made a adjustable brake pedal rod.
Manuel Mena good thing your opinion doesn't matter to me. Funny you say that because it is going to the Good guys show today because it got picked for the top 50 trucks exhibit this weekend.
in my personal opinion i think the truck was nicer in it original state but all people have diffrent opinions. If it was my truck though i would have left it the way it was. I just think it looks better not really my style
I've been doing it for 22 years, F series with bushings I can do in my sleep, sliding control arms are a breeze. The ones I don't care for are when people bring me bagged trucks or drift cars and want them aligned properly but their suspension is all screwed up.
Like the truck. Hate the fact that you started with a rare 72. If you want a 67, rescue a 67. Hope you saved that 400. Everyone will regret these ls swaps in about 15 years, the same way everyone regrets vehicles with 90s engine swaps now. There will always be newer, better style and performance. There is only one original.
Lyndel Culbertson it's a 69 now. I don't regret the ls swap at all. I just installed an all aluminum 5.3 with a .617 lift cam and it runs and sounds great. I will never build another carburated engine again. They are very inefficient.
Bill Newell I don't ever plan on building another carbureted engine again either. I've had 3 in particular that were never right, but if that 400 was original to the truck and buildable then personally I would've converted it to fi with something along the lines of an fitech fuel injection conversion. They're priced decent these days and will keep the rarity of the truck intact. A little work on the heads and drop in a cam and you could make just as respectable of numbers as an ls. If you ever wanted to sell it later, it would be worth a lot as a numbers matching 72 Cheyenne super and the next owner would have options rather than having to deal with old technology and custom fit parts to accommodate an ls. I have a 70 c10 that was a fully optioned a/c truck, but someone yanked the original 350 and I got stuck with a corporate 307. I could drop an ls in it and look like every other rescued truck in my club, but that would be as bad as whoever stuck that 307 in it in the 70s. Since it's well optioned I can keep a stock look and upgrade to fuel injection with better internals and suspension and. Don't get me wrong, I love your truck. I just wish you would've picked a 69 with no engine rather than a survivor 72 if it looked as good in person as that original picture in your video. I think that's why a lot of the purists are upset. If you would've left the before pictures out, you'd probably be getting nothing but praise.
Why on earth would you do that to such a perfect classic truck. There are so many trucks that you could have used to build. Your truck of the year. What a waste.
what did he butcher?he took a dime a dozen ugly ass long bed and turned it into a badass shortbed.you internet trolls are all the same.always talkin smack about what someone else is doin.
+Bill Newell no doubt.youd reaaaally have some haters if they saw what it looked like now.that truck has come a long way and its one of the cleanest ive seen bro
+Michael Dunn thank you, that's true. I did end up painting it, changing the rims, building the bed, and having the interior done, but I haven't done a video yet.
I got a 70' C10, and I gotta say at first I couldn't handle what happened to that Mint Truck, but after hearing it start up and Romp down the streets I gotta give it to you man, Amazing Build, Goodluck and keep up the Great Work!
thank you
if you have Facebook, look me up, I just painted it, new wheels, new interior. if not, wait for the next video to see what I did to it
Long bed classics are starting to get super rare. I personally want a long bed. They will be the sought after classics soon.
Said nobody.. rare long beds.??? Maybe in the rust belt. Chevy built millions doubt they will get rare..
Wow great job and video. I'm definitely following you because you have vision and determination . Your a serious builder. I applaud your work. 😎
Charles Martin thank you. the truck is painted now. look at my newer videos, or look me up on facebook
Great job,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 that’s a lot of work for one person. I tip my hat to you sir AWSOME !!!!
Thank you
So, we need a sequel Bill. What happened with this bad boy in the last four years? Thanks for the inspiration on a new steering rig for my 1973 Hornet. Yep, you heard me right. The same car we rebuilt in your garage in December, 1997. ATB, Mike.
Oh man Michael how have you been? I just talked to Steve last week. Keep watching videos and you will see the transformation
I love the way you built it
That first ride is always the perma-grin! Nicely done man, looking forward to more videos!
Thank you, there was a guy on facebook asking for a video like this so I did it early. When I get more done I will make another one.
Yeah I remember when I pulled my 66’ out , it was a awesome feeling.
Bill Newell great Job Sir !!!!!
Dude defiantly has alot of money in that bad boy. Love it wish i could do that with mine.
love this build. You really got busy with it. looks incredible! btw-people who hate on other's builds generally can't put a lego car together let alone the real thing.
yamahaxs6501 I am going to have to remember that logo comment. lol thanks man
Bill Newell bad ass truck!!!
AWESOME BUILD! keep up the progress dude!
thank you. I am about to paint it now
Wow, that is nice I can't wait to see it finished.
Nice work, love it !!!
There is a lot of work into that. Once you commit to such an undertaking, you gotta follow through 100%. I am leaving mine alone. LOL!
there is a more recent video of how it turned out after I painted it.
This is such a badass pickup makes me wanna do that but then there is alot of money in that truck but a dream truck for me
Thank you very much.
I love the way you built it. good job
thank you sir
it's built not bought that's what matters... bad ass Truck!
thank you. there is a more recent video of it painted
c10 Action brotha !💯💯💯
love the truck some serious work done.. I have been doing stange things to cars for years airbags and mostly setting up the geometry is would be intimidating.. maybe ad a link to a website on setting this up and making it all work right.. driveshaft angles. ect.. again awsome build!
thank you. looks different now. Detroit steel wheels, 70 grill and a few more things under the hood.
Trucks so nice. Good job 💪🏼
Oliver Rojo thank you very much. Look at my more recent videos
Dope as fuck waiting to see the finished product!
Thank you, I will be posting more videos soon. I've made a few changes but not many
Awsome job.Hope to do the same on a 90 c1500.
Thank you for actually making a video, and not another photo slide show lol
So man great builds but I hate photo slide shows
Sweet!
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Beautiful truck man I love it, just can't beat an LS or a Chevrolet for that matter...
Rhoads Matheson this is an old video. Look at the newer ones. Truck is almost done
Rad!! On fire man. I know you didn't like the Ridlers on you're c10 and ended up changing them out. But I dig them. Did you have any fitment issues with them? Hello I have a Chevrolet 1969 I put air bag system. I would like to lower the same as yours but only in the front, how can I do tha
I'm building a 68 right now
Sick truck by the way. I've got a 69 c10. 72 c20. 55 chevy and 2 66 mustangs. Classics are the way to go, wish to get to your level though. Do you gave the camber and caster set a ride height with you truck on, or its always changing?

cheers .

beautiful truck!!!
Did the 4l80e go in without any fitment issues?
sorry if I didn't respond. I didn't see this until now. with the body drop the 4l80e is a tight fit but it works. drive line angles are tricky
have you ever removed the doors? If so, how did you get the hinge pins out with out removing the fender side of the hinge?
Jim Miranda I didn't take the pins out, I removed the hinges with the door just by removing the bolts.
Did that 4l80e require any modification to fit in there?
Because I did a body drop yes a little massaging of the floor. I cut the shifter bracket, shortened it and moved it back because the 4l80e is wider and longer than a 400.
nice truck I am in the middle of a 65 c10 with 6.0 what flywheel did you use on the 4l60e trans thanks
I used a 4l80e trans. I would not out a 4l60e trans behind a 6.0. they don't hold up well.
Damn that's a ton of work in a short time!!
lok me up on facebook. I am almost done with it.
+Bill Newell just sent a friend request... Good work man! Take a peek at what I'm building when ya can... Mainly budget LS swap stuff
you did a short bed conversion? how did you shorten bed?
tom schmitt I built my own frame and rear suspension after I bought short bed bed sides.
Thanks for replying bud! What would you say was the hardest/pain in the ass part about the swap? Trying to see if I can handle it alone lol
The hardest thing was getting over being afraid of it. I'm serious. once I got over that, it was supper easy.
Wheres this Carolina Customs you speak of?
Thanks,I have a 69 c10 I'm bout to start. Just looking up different places to start buying from.
How much was the cost to make it a short bed let me know how much please !
Rolando Elizondo I paid 200 dollars for the 2 bed sides and built the frame myself
Nice work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
thank you sir
Thinking about doing a 5.3 or 6.0
Swap... Do you recommend the 6.0 over the 5.3? Also, how much of a pain in the ass was it to do the swap?
Swap was super easy. Definitely worth doing. A 5.3 I've heard feels quicker when mated with the 4l60e trans because it does take as much power as the 4l80e does. The 6.0 has a lot of torque.
just wondering if those rims needed adapters
no, they make them in a few offsets
oh okay thanks ... amazing truck by the way 👌
Can I get the contact or website info for Josh so I can get a fuel cell and 6 link? Thanks man! I'm about to start the chop on my 69 c10 😱
Marie Mott they are out of business. You can buy a 6 link from KP concepts that will work on a stock frame or with little modification.
nice truck!
thank you
What front air bags brand and model did you used?
Cesar courrech I use slam specialties ss7 bags all the way around
Same air bags diameter front and rear?
Thank you!
Cesar courrech Yes sir. I like to try to do that so when I carry a spare bag, it will fit front or rear if I have a problem. I drive long distances and don't want issues.
Oops... The number 7 means the diameter. Thank you... Nice truck
Cesar courrech Yes 7 is the is diameter of the bag
What profile tire you running?
245-45-20
sick asf dude
Dude I feel you. I get a lot of prerunners and cherokees with modified suspension. A lot of dropped Hondas but they don't want to pay to play but they went the cheap route and cut coils. I'm really trying to follow this conversation, but I just can't! What on earth are you guys speaking of?? Please help a clueless noob.
@Jovanny Flores, yes you can, in fact it's easier on that body style.
can you do a video on the shortbed conversion,? including the shortened bed?
Fucked up another classic
Yup. Fucked it up so bad it sold for 38k.
I'm about to fuck up a 2wd K5 Blazer too. Stay tuned.
can i make my 65 gm longbed sidestep into a shortbed?
yes you can, it takes a lot of cutting tho
Master tech?
Suspension technician at Ford.
Lmao u just convinced me! Thanks man
Glad I could help. lol. watch the video of me first starting it. scared me it started up so quickly.
+Bill Newell lol what does a 6.0 run these days?
+Daniel R. I bought a totaled truck for $1500 with the engine, trans, pcm, and wire harness in it. took it all out and scrapped the truck.
I have a 67 I want to body drop do u have a video of the body off
I dont, sorry. I have pictures only
What year is it
72 but I put a 70 grill on it.
Must be a wide rim, they look lower profile than 45.
20x8.5 with a 0 offset.
How you bolt the brake booster
I removed the studs from the brake pedal assembly, drilled holes to line up the Mustang booster, shaved the firewall, drilled a new hole for the rod to go through, and made a adjustable brake pedal rod.
Thanks for the reply what's the difference between the Mustang booster an gm booster
+Sergio Duarte I wanted an 8 inch booster is all.
What year Mustang??
+Sergio Duarte I don't remember. good dual diaphragm 8 inch Mustang booster
do the bodywork yourself?
matthew dyess yes, and paint. I did everything but the upholstery.
matthew dyess there is a newer video with it painted
great job 1
thank you
I agree you completely fucked it up .
Manuel Mena good thing your opinion doesn't matter to me. Funny you say that because it is going to the Good guys show today because it got picked for the top 50 trucks exhibit this weekend.
Still a peace of shit sorry.
Manuel Mena no need to apologize. Everyone has an opinion.
Manuel Mena it doesn't look anything like this anymore.
what kind of exhaust
bindosas hu 2.5 inch flowmeter 40 series with an H pipe off XS Speed headers.
in my personal opinion i think the truck was nicer in it original state but all people have diffrent opinions. If it was my truck though i would have left it the way it was. I just think it looks better not really my style
it doesn't look like this anymore
I don't know I just don't like the low rider stle and all of that
+Mindlesspops Play's Minecraft This style is not for everyone.
Oh I see. Worst cars to align are chevy Astro vans and ford with bushing, and dodge with dual slots and subframe shift..I hate those lol
I've been doing it for 22 years, F series with bushings I can do in my sleep, sliding control arms are a breeze. The ones I don't care for are when people bring me bagged trucks or drift cars and want them aligned properly but their suspension is all screwed up.
Y would he call this a 67 for one thing the window in the back is to big
Goodfellas Inc. not all 67s had a small window. I used a 67 front clip, but it now has a 69 front end.
BAD ASS!!!!!!!
cool
bad ass 👍👍👍👍
GOD DAMN ! !
Bad ass.
thank you sir
nice I'm doing mine
AND YOU THINK YOU IMPROVED THIS TRUCK...............
MORGAN DOUGLAS watch the newer video after I painted it. yes it improved
ONLY IN YOUR EYES IMO
???
not sure how to respond to that

it's bad to the bone no Metter what
Goodfellas Inc. Thank you. look for the updated video. I've painted it and everything.
Why on earth would you do that to such a perfect classic truck. There are so many trucks that you could have used to build. Your truck of the year. What a waste.
Well the person who bought it for $38k didn't mind what I did to it. Different stroke for different folks.
truck was nice when you bought it. junk now.
Tevis Hodges this is an old video, it's all painted, upholstered, and wood bed now. I understand some people don't like the style I built it though.
Bill Newell truck is bad as fuck that guy looks sick as is
truck is sick! Tevis is a fool!
wow!!!! Really nice job butchering a classic!!! good job.
thank you sir
what did he butcher?he took a dime a dozen ugly ass long bed and turned it into a badass shortbed.you internet trolls are all the same.always talkin smack about what someone else is doin.
+Danny Roach thank you. Some people will never get it.
+Bill Newell no doubt.youd reaaaally have some haters if they saw what it looked like now.that truck has come a long way and its one of the cleanest ive seen bro
+Danny Roach thanks man. I should be driving it in a week and a half.
okay go ahead and Heating at you at 2 go ahead go ahead you can say some more everything is well I would Ipsy
wheels look goofy
Robert Cowan couldn't agree more. Sold them right after I put them on.
So basically you made it look like shit.
If that's your opinion, then yes.
+Bill Newell But my opinion doesn't matter because you built it. it is your image of what you wanted and you made it happen. that is all that matters.
+Michael Dunn thank you, that's true. I did end up painting it, changing the rims, building the bed, and having the interior done, but I haven't done a video yet.
+Bill Newell cool
+Bill Newell your truck looks bad ass man. I respect that fact that you respect opinions from idiots. I wouldn't. Good job with the truck
I'm sorry but your truck looks horrible you just make a mess
xJOKERx15 it's painted now and looks very different
what a waste of a good truck
Kor'an Mal might want to go look at more recent videos before you share your narrow minded opinion.
Almost made me puke when I saw you slammed it
good thing I didn't build it for you then right?
