There are tales of a place, a place of dark power, and dark knowledge.
Its is truly unfathomable, its lengths unknowable, and its evil, inconceivable.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Knowledge is power, and Apocrypha holds knowledge absolute.

Thats some deep crap right there.
In other words, Apocrypha is the greatest gateway to corruption.

I feel bad for Miraak. Imagine how it must feel like, wandering around these empty halls of books for centuries, watching the world just outside of his reach move on and forget all about him. Then one day the Last Dragonborn arrives, finally someone just like him. He then finds out that the only way for him to escape his prison is to kill the only other being who has any idea at all what's it like to Dragonborn. He could have been so much stronger as a character if Bethesda had just put more effort into him as they did with Serana's story.

Exactly. I was so excited for this quest because imagine all the things you could’ve talked about with Miraak but then I realized that Bethesda made him a full bad guy and you have to kill him. It was so disappointing. That’s why I downloaded a mod that lets you save him and have Miraak as a companion. It’s a shame that the actual game doesn’t let you save him.

@@gumbothewizard Miraak had to die. He was evil from the beginning. He was the reason dragons and dragon priests turned ruthless after Ysgramor. Spending thousands of years imprisoned in apocrypha only made him more insane and ambitious.

@@Nawrwhale That is ops problem. The writers made Miraak a standard boring villain. He could have had more depth to him like Serena and could have made for a more interesting antagonist.

    • @Nawrwhale
      @Nawrwhale 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@AxisChurchDevotee not really a problem since he was more like a laboratory rat. the real villian was mora who tricked both first and last db to his service. the whole dragon war might've been avoided had mora not interfered.

    • @AxisChurchDevotee

@@Nawrwhale He doesn't trick the DB tho. He basically dangles a carrot to get you to serve him since he most likely knows that due to having the soul of a dragon, it's in the DBs nature to dominate and seek power and apocrypha has endless amounts of that. Heremaes mora flat out says that even if you defy him you'll be drawn back to apocrypha due to its secrets.
This is what makes Heremaes Mora so dangerous, he doesn't need to manipulate you, all that power and knowledge he has stored in his realm is all he needs. Iirc there's a book implying the seekers you find in apocrypha aren't regular daedra and are people who refused to leave apocrypha due to its knowledge and power. Notice they don't drop any daedric items like dremora or atronarchs.

I remember open the book again right after the first encounter with Miraak and I just kept exploring. This has to be my favorite place in the whole game

First time walking into Castle Volkihar with this music playing was unnerving, to say the least.

Apocrypha is hands down the most threatening fucking place I've been in an Elder Scrolls game.
    The Deadlands ain't shit.
The void with hanging corpses ain't shit.
    The Soul Cairn ain't shit.
Nothing can beat the sheer sense of dread that arises from being among something you cannot comprehend.

I really dig the Apocrypha.Contrary to the Deadlands, the Apocrypha is a much more creepy and mysterious location.

When I hear this, it makes me think of a vast but abandoned place, like the alien ship from Prometheus.
    I love this atmosphere.

I went into this place just as I and all my forms always do. With a caviler attitude kicking over every minion with my game breaking modded strength. Of course, that didn't make me immune to everything- once I found out the shadows could bite, then the real challenge started. But even then, I'll always be the animus that defies gods.
