Solstheim has the Happiest song of anywhere in the entire game. Strange, the Red Mountain erupting in the distance, the tentacled beings of Apocrypha, the ash and soot. But they give the happiest song to even the darkest place.
Because despite it being a dark place, it's still a home to many. People who refused to leave home but who still wished to escape the horrors of Red Mountain. People who have turned a place uninhabitable on the surface, into a place to not only survive, but to thrive.
This is the perfect conclusion to Skyrim and one of the reasons I like Solstheim so much. It makes you reflect on the dragons and daedra, the Thalmor, the civil war and general divisiveness in the formerly united empire, the vampires, the eruption's toll on the dark elves, Miraak and all the dark shit that has always plagued Tamriel, as well as the characters you met that didn't survive, and how the heroes that come forward can't save everyone, change everything or end the troubles forever. But also that, little by little, you're still fighting against it all and helping the land to heal. You've helped the people of Skyrim, and now Solstheim with the Dunmer settlement of Raven Rock and the tight community of the Skaal, with the conviction that you'll continue to do so for as long as you can because they need it and Tamriel needs it.
"There is a wonder in the distant horizon, a future or past, reconsidered. The child within finds joy in the simple, like sunsets, storms, and dreams. The unexplored becomes our reason to continue living, as is should be"
This is the saddest and most nostalgic of the songs in Skyrim. How i miss my friends and those simpler days when defeating a lurker was actually difficult....
Wandering through Apocrypha in complete darkness, with no previous knowledge of the place, fighting the abyssal Seekers who once were adventurers like you. No cheats, nor exploits, just your sword & shield and a will of steel to face the remaining challenges. I think this is one of the few videogame soundtracks that has made me cry because of its beauty. With it and many other things, I'll never forget Skyrim.
For some reason, even after Sahrotaar helped miraak, when he helped me, I was heartbroken when miraak still killed him...I had forgiven him after all he had done and helped miraak do...I feel like this song played at the perfect time because when I returned back to solsthiem, this song started up. I wish Sahrotaar could've survived....
Heard this song for the first time when I entered Hrodulf's house in Solstheim, while reading his journal and after reading the note from Bjornolfr. Broke my heart... naturally, I had to find it again. Amazing heartbreaking song ❤️
Stumbling upon this song made me buy the DLC, just like the Skyrim soundtrack inspired me to buy the full game. I wish I could find this glorious track on mp3. No luck yet though.
You can get Audacity for free and you can record an MP3 from the youtube video or even a WAV, simply by switching the record mode to speaker loopback, so it records the audio playing from your device. I actually recorded this track and added it to the soundtrack the music files of Oblivion and Morrowind on my PC, so now it plays in every elder scrolls game I own
@@rehm402 I do not know man, I think Soule was clearly influenced by Howard Shore music. You do not need to use some mumbo jumbo deep music theory when you clearly hear Moria in Dragonsreach/Masser and 04. The Fighting Uruk-Hai (Part 2) in Frostfall :)) This Exploring track clearly sounds like Sam´s speech at the end of Two Towers.. which is great! I love them both!
Its kinda gut wrenching that this is the last official song we got from the official game itself. A fitting and unforgettable end.
making me tear up bruh
Possibly one of the most beautiful soundtracks in all of Skyrim. It's so heartfelt.
This is one of those songs where I stop playing and just listen
It is so sad that this album was never officially released.

For me, it's a reminder that, no matter how grim or dark things get, there is still hope.
I'd say this is one of the most beautiful themes in the entire series... and thats something.

Still gives me goosebumps, even after all those years.

Even in the beautiful serenity of this soundtrack, there still lies a somber tone. Solstheim is, in and of itself, a somber place.
hard to imagine considering how amazing the soundtrack was before Dragonborn, but this track is probably best in the entire game.
brunskies92 I’m conflicted with this and “Awake,” the song that plays when you first wake up at the beginning of the game

Thank you for uploading this. This is my absolute favorite Dragonborn DLC song...
Imma be honest, if this doesn’t play at my funeral, I ain’t coming

Well, you can download it with TH-cam MP3!
At least with Oblivion and Morrowind, they had their songs easily accessible within their files. Not sure on Skyrim though.
Mp3 converters bro
should be in the game files

Absolutely Outstanding.
Very beautiful. Thank you, mr. Soule.
memories..
This song is amazing. How is it not more popular than it is??
There's one dark-sounding exploration track I can find on here. It has a really strange instrument. 2 or 3 seconds of it are stuck in my head.
I wish this would play in the house at Raven Rock
theres always a mod for everything
