every time I opened the Black Book and the tentacles came out, Farkas would say "I can't believe you do that on purpose" and "That can't be good for you." Never got old.
it physically hurts me to know that there are many books about ANY kind of magic in this world - and you can only read a few of them. I want books about dark magic, dammit ;_;
Honestly, i really like the vibe of Apocrypha. I personally find it relaxing and very fitting. It's like a place that someone would really like to read or study in.
Elder scrolls fucking nails it when it comes to portraying Lovecraft. The Lurkers rising from the water are Cthulhus Deep Ones Mora is obviously Supposed to be Yog-Sothoth, and his voice and behavior are spot on.Hes not so much as evil, rather he is simply beyond understanding. And apocrypha always gives off a strong vibe of being watched. Like the entire realm has its sights set on you, and things never before seen in existence spring forth from nothingness to guard tomes of forbidde, arcane texts, many of which drive their readers insane. It just screams, *YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE*
Less gruesome? Im pretty sure that the skooma addicted Khajiit murdering his brother with an axe, the falmer eating a person alive, the crazy arse serial killer necromancer, with a secret altar full human remains weren't exactly kid friendly. And that's just only some of the shit I remember.
This song is very spooky when you enter the funeral buildings when your asked to clear the Ash spawn this freaked me out since then hearing this being played
People keep saying Apocrypha is an alien-like world. I (being a bit wierd) would find it inviting if that Daedric guy would speak just a LITTLE BIT faster. He sounds like he's constantly yawning.
“Knowledge is power, but what are you willing to sacrifice for it? That one guy you offered from the skaal was but a morsel for me. You deserve SO MUCH MORE my champion.” “Show me what you have learned since our last meeting…”
To be quite frank, Skyrim is A LOT more kid friendly than Oblivion. Yes, the mass-murderer Necromancer, the tombs and the Drug-fucked Khajiit murdering his brother with an axe, the falmer eating humans and that.. But in Oblivion, you have corpses strewn across walls, altars with dead people, cauldrons filled with skulls, bones strewn across floor and Vampires that dwell in such places. The cheery noblemen of the Imperial City, who is actually a vampire making a coven in a catacomb underneath his residence. The fact that Lucien Lachance, your mentor, is brutally murdered and mutilated, hung up from the ceiling as if he were a trophy. The watchtower in Anvil, with the underground room of the traitor in the DB, filled with bodies of humans and dogs, sheep, bones, defiled graves and blood all over the floor and walls, and HIS OWN MOTHERS SKULL?? So don't try to think that Skyrim is more brutal than Oblivion. Better graphics DO NOT in ANY way replicate an effect on the mind. The realisation of how messed up people really are in Oblivion.
They are both anything but kid friendly. Wake up dude, don't be such a hypocrite. ''With thee beers down, the orcs did frown, and bid the elf goodbye...'' sneaks up behind the singing bandit and cuts his throat for an extra 15 times damage. Kid 'cough' friendly. You obviously dont have any..
+Miriam.Ben so we can say: in oblivion, the horror lies hidden. it's wearing the mask of civilization (uh, I like that sentence), but everybody can be a sick demon that will try to manipulate or kill you. most likely both. in skyrim, the horror lies in the surface. if somebody is evil, he will let you know instantly. skyrim might be more gory, but I still think oblivion managed to create a much creepier athmosphere. but I for myself didn't found oblivion to be really disturbing (I played it a LOT as a child, and believe me, my character was the creepiest thing around). and children get along with virtual violence pretty well, too, so I guess playing these games wouldn't really harm kids, but rather feed their imagination.
I must disagree... Oblivion seems a lot more like an upfront 'muahahahaha evil darkness' vibe. Skyrim has a lot of really dark, messed up evil shit, and it feels more... serious. Human. Maybe it's the setting a bit. A full-scale demonic invasion and zombies and demon cults and stuff in a temperate Roman-themed country really lends itself to the typical fantasy evil and dark theme rather than Skyrim. Skyrim is in a cold, dark, war-torn place where several really messed up countries have resided in ages past, the dragon cult and the dwemer. It's a down to earth place themed after the mythologies of a very down-to-earth people. Thus I think the various dark things feel more truly dark and bad in general. Skyrim is more... Disturbing. Believable i almost want to say. It feels more real and insidious under the surface. I mean, think about the tales we tell kids. They're really dark, but I want to say they're much more Oblivion dark than Skyrim dark. They're overtly evil and bad if you think about them.
Skyrim is much less gruesome to a degree yes, but its dungeon design is better than Oblivion's, where every dungeon was a maze of halls that led to a chest. I love Bethesda because their games became overall better as time went on. The only thing that went down a little is the storytelling, which was at its best in Morrowind.
I remember getting there for the first time. My gf was playing, and she's like "WTF did you install? Stop mod pranking me!", and I'm like "Wasn't me, babe". And our jaws just dropped. One minute, we're playing a tes game, next one - we're in a lovecraftian horror. ❤❤❤

Hmm
Dute la una dintre bibliotecile din Roma sau Paris.
O sa-ti satisfaca gusturile .
I use this plane of Oblivion for search for spell tomes for my battlemage build
Apocrypha is every socially awkward hermit's dream.

When it comes to portraying Lovecraft. I thought it was because of the racism.
This is what the walking nightmares of the endless eldritch voids listen to as they sleep for eternity.
Indeed... Isn't it soothing? 😉
Less gruesome?

Don't forget the necromancer who f###ed his dead victims, Castle Volkihar, All of Markarth (seriously eff that place)
I think that the Ayleid ruins we saw in Cyrodill used to be portals into the realm of Apocrytha. The ancient elves were servants of Haermeos Mora.
This song is very spooky when you enter the funeral buildings when your asked to clear the Ash spawn this freaked me out since then hearing this being played
Nickson_20 dude yes the ash spawn are sketchy asf and the funeral buildings you nailed it
@@BrandonBRich and also the part when your asked to wait in there to find someone who is disturbing the burials

But... I WANT to talk like that!
+Raspy Its meant to be inviting, to lure you in, to tempt you with forbidden knowledge.
I found it condescending.
Herma Mora just has zero fucks to spare and that resonates in his talking style.
@@thelastgalvanizer Hermaeus Mora, The Daedric Prince of Knowledge, Fates, Memory, and Zero Fucks.
Apocrypha reminds me of Xen from Half Life, but with elements from HP Lovecraftian fiction added.
It really does now I think about it! The low-res textures of it all can easily let you imagine it looking something more like this.
“Knowledge is power, but what are you willing to sacrifice for it? That one guy you offered from the skaal was but a morsel for me. You deserve SO MUCH MORE my champion.”
“Show me what you have learned since our last meeting…”
Imagine exploring this realm on vr
I played in apocrypha in psvr. It is horrifying
This is where i belong
One more page... One more book... Fated to be my home for eternity. I can not leave.
Had weird nightmares after playing this back in the day, Ominous
Home, sweet Home.

Dreadlands and coldharbour are more freaky
You've never seen Aporcrypha at its peak then.
Coldharbour is more focused on suffering, but I believe Apocrypha is just as dangerous
