Hi Adrian , I bought Ativa AV after going through your early reviews and couple of others. I am driving my Grey Ativa AV for past 2 months . It’s really joy to drive . It was very hard to keep it below 90km//hr for initial 1000km. And I love the PWR button , oh man this picks up really fast. Here are my positives: - great peppy engine. - good comfortable seats - good ride quality- ADAS is fantastic , I have used a lot ,almost self driving Negatives , - horrible fuel economy, I’m getting around 11km/l - I agree with you the braking is not that great- I didn’t like it’s cornering, I know it’s due to the high centre of gravity - I didn’t like the sound system Upgrades done- for improving cornering and handling , installed stage one safety bars( front strut bar, anti roll bar and also front lower 4 point bar), this has made the ativa now handle like a pro. Now cornering is great and high speed stability is great. My upgrade recommendation for you will be this. - have done a full ceramic coating -have put a carbon fiber spoiler - have upgraded the back reflector lights with turn indicator - have got HDMI wireless mirror cast dongle for iPhone Planned upgrade- sound system :have to install my component hertz speakers which I have , a under seat subwoofer, DSP. Waiting for installer shop to be opened - have bought already soundproofing material for doors, need to install -need to get a undercarriage cover Overall the Ativa is great value for money car. Always I will recommend to any one.
Appreciate your good standard of english, Adrian. And for using the correct word for window tinting. I went to an accessory shop and told the worker I wanted to install tinting. He did not understand. When I pointed out the windows he insisted I should have requested "tinted"! Many malaysians also use "bonnet", instead of the correct word "boot". This includes enforcement personnel who ask you to "buka bonnet" when they want to inspect your boot.
My suggestion on upgrading the Ativa can be 1. better tinted 2. branded headunit such as Pioneer/Kenwood & better speakers upgrade 3. some stabilizer bars to reduce more on body-roll 4. rims & tyres 5. consider upgrade the brake pads & disc for better braking performance

Hi Adrian, for first time car buyers - would you recommend Ativa? I'm contemplating on my first car and your reviews mean a lot to me.. hope will hear from you soon. Keep up with the great content! Love your channel ❤️
I think the strength of the Ativa is the competence of its platform, safety features and some JDM touches like the the digital instrument cluster on the H and AV variants. Good tyres also actually. But apart from that the overall packaging is poor and really should be improved to meet the standards set by those features above. Terrible infotainment and sound setup, cheap tint and lack of rear air con blower, no cover to protect the bottom of the car (also improving aerodynamics and fuel efficiency) feels like a real letdown because they can be easily resolved. Also agree that eco idle is a silly gimmick that Perodua should just stop using. The only reason to get the AV would be for full ADAS suite in my view. I would rather either get X or H variant and use the savings to get better tints and upgrade the weaknesses i mentioned. But that means I will have to live without the ADAS I guess. That would be my pick if I were in the market for a mini SUV now. Better to wait a couple of years and see what competitors offer, or whether there's a facelift that works on these weaknesses.
I feel newer Perodua models always include some weakness in thir features, like a job half done. Seems like consumer shouldn't be greedy for too many features within a budget car. If cannot give best quality feature, just don't give at all.
@@jcw5288 Yes I agree. For example I would rather they just saved money on the infotainment or the tint and just improved the sound system & soundproofing, etc. Give me less features but at a higher quality, rather than spam as many as they could. Spot on. But the fact is consumers are very visual shoppers. They see got touchscreen, wah. Got push start, wah. Got "auto brake", wah. The intangibles and substances are not enough to close sales
no offense but if you have can save up extra money then you're better off with the x50 or a second hand cx3. @@tishen0006 No offense taken of course, I agree with you that those two cars you mentioned are better options, which is of course why they cost anywhere between 15 to 30K more!
I think the relative shorter range of 250-300km is because of its smaller fuel tank of 36litres compared to 45litres in the Proton X50. But despite its smaller engine, smaller fuel tank thus less weight to carry and thinner body panels(feels it), it does not seems economical on fuel?
Just to clarify again, Ativa Av variant did not come with front windshield tinted? I thought tinted cover whole car windshield, windows & rear windscreen.
Nissan almera vl varient now priced 71k With free acces..,tint, leather seat Between full spec ativa and low spec nissan almera i think almera is better choice family .
If I'm not wrong, perodua provided tint is just for security. For sound.... u can compare myvi with axia.... haiz.... proton might have a better sound speaker provider as my family wira aeroback sound speaker quite nice or maybe is just because the head unit used...I don't know
I thk it's quite ok already for me to change to ativa(from my old 12 yrs+ Toyota rush🤭) x need buy too much expensive as I x intend to donate much money to gov😅
The spongy brakes and bad fuel economy are huge turn offs for me. I guess Perodua will forever be a brand that focuses on offering a lot of features but most of them are very low quality.
Actually the FC is not too bad, I can easily get >15km/l with smooth traffic in town area (50% urban/highway). Easily beat my 1.3 Myvi which hardly to get more than 12km/l with same traffic condition 😓
@@alvingoh5439 your 1.3 Myvi which generation? Seriously fuel economy that bad? I haven't actually calculate it before but I don't think my old 1st gen Vios get less than 12km/l unless stuck in heavy traffic for long periods of time.
This car is suitable for town driving. It won't be comfortable in long journey driving, says maybe more than 1hr of driving. The whole left leg will feel very cramping, not comfortable at all as there is tight space available from the gear console design that maybe, P2 can do refinement in future.
Yes agree, myvi seems more spacious, the legroom is too crample, the wide centre console is good if the car is wide as well, and Ativa is rather not that wide in dimension, so yeah the centre console really disturb me
Hi sir, as for me i think that the car material built is not as solid as proton cars nowadays as it does not come with HPF structure so the weight of the car is light and it feels less secure to drive it, system safety features may get disfunction as times goes by therefore HPF really helps solidy a car to make a driver feels safer. 2nd is the seats are not as comfy as proton cars now, indeed it is more spacious than proton but it is because the seats design does not fully support the tigh so the comfortness is not as good as proton especially wen it comes to long journey drive. 3rd is the compartment for bottles are not there at the center console like in proton cars or most cars as it is very necessary and convinient for drivers, the arm rest is too small and the space in it is too small and narrow as well with the L shaped, so its hard to put stuff in there. Imma very insecure person Sir, so wen it comes to getting a car, i will look at the body structure and the weight of the car if it is solid or heavy or not. 2nd is the comfortness in terms of handling, stability of the car due to the weight and material of the car and the seats of the car. 3rd is the safety features, doesnt matter how many safety features systems in a car in the HPF is the most important feature for the car sir, imma classic person therefore sometimes too much of tech and system does not mean its reliable in times. 😢😢😢

Nissan almera vl varient now priced 71k
With free acces..,tint, leather seat
Between full spec ativa and low spec nissan almera i think almera is better choice family .
Fair comparison, more spacious, and a bigger boot. Looks sleeker too.
how's the drump brake problem now?
th-cam.com/video/JNuVumazdEo/w-d-xo.html
Yes wrapcar waiting for you to stripe the Ativa and have a look inside
The windshield is come with tint.
Oh my that makes it really bad then 😅
What about DRL adrian? Modern cars won't look modern without one...
The GearUp DRLs don't look very good though
If I'm not wrong, perodua provided tint is just for security.
For sound.... u can compare myvi with axia.... haiz.... proton might have a better sound speaker provider as my family wira aeroback sound speaker quite nice or maybe is just because the head unit used...I don't know
Sounds similar to the Myvi, nothing to shout about. It's solar and security tinting for the Ativa.
I thk it's quite ok already for me to change to ativa(from my old 12 yrs+ Toyota rush🤭) x need buy too much expensive as I x intend to donate much money to gov😅
Building cars people first philosophy.. can't expect more
then live with mediocrity for the rest of the ownership
Wonder the rear brake issue been solve?

Auto Dimming mirror? Throttle controller?
We plan to!
@@WapCar great... Do let me know..
I think the rims looks good. Looks like 18inch.
I think you got it wrong. I m using android 11 and it works perfectly with the system
May I know what apps you are using?
This car is suitable for town driving. It won't be comfortable in long journey driving, says maybe more than 1hr of driving. The whole left leg will feel very cramping, not comfortable at all as there is tight space available from the gear console design that maybe, P2 can do refinement in future.
Yes agree, myvi seems more spacious, the legroom is too crample, the wide centre console is good if the car is wide as well, and Ativa is rather not that wide in dimension, so yeah the centre console really disturb me
this car are design for regular size driver.
Ultra racing safety bar and gear up spoiler
Gear Up spoiler ohhh yes that looks good. Safety bar, maybe not, very satisfied with the car's dynamics so far
How it handles compared to mazda2?
Mazda 2 handles way better no contest.
Why is it so difficult to have android auto, is it very costly for the car manufacturer to put it in?
I heard they wanted to release this model early, and to obtain license for Auto and Car Play will take some time.
Licensing is difficult, their supplier will need to secure tens and thousands of licences to supply. Not an easy feat
Adrian, why never do review for In Car Entertainment performance. The Ativa radio and sound system is rubbish.
Would a brake pad upgrade help with softness, or is it the front-back balance causing the issue you think?
It will void warranty
It will help with the brake feel and stopping power. Unless we convert it to rear brake disc, otherwise brake balance won't change all that much
@@WapCar won't it void the warranty
This make me worried... Waiting for one... And now I feel whether I should have one... Brake performance is important to avoid disasters... Oh man...
@@hasmahahmad5696 it's OK ony.nothing to worry about
Hi sir, as for me i think that the car material built is not as solid as proton cars nowadays as it does not come with HPF structure so the weight of the car is light and it feels less secure to drive it, system safety features may get disfunction as times goes by therefore HPF really helps solidy a car to make a driver feels safer.
Honda guy will complain about the brake not powerful enough 😬
paint protection?
Paint is not special enough to spend 10+k to protect it haha. Maybe wax/coating will suffice
