My favorite detail in this game is that no-one in the hotel at any point in the game acknowledges Sophia’s existence. It took me 3 playthroughs and understanding of the implication of how she’s always moving around the lobby to the goddess statue to the beach near the end. She’s projecting her image to you specifically which is why no one sees her but you and she can be anywhere she needs to be
What I love about this game is it actually has a very cool and understandable story while also being filled to the brim with little secrets and references like these. Proving you can be mysterious without being completely obfuscated for the player.
What I like about the souls series is engagement with the story is entirely optional, you can play and try to infer as much as you can through environmental hints, boss names, etc, or you can dig into item descriptions and other instances of written lore. It's not a way to tell the most coherent, linear narrative, but it is using the strengths of the medium to let you choose your own level of engagement. I can see that if you're a narrative driven person this would work less than someone who is more gameplay oriented.
I'm playing elden ring for the last year running all over the place being attacked by all mannar of beast and all I know is it's because I'm maidenless and the sad part is I know Malenia is the ☝ but she just hurts me every time I open up...physically.😢
I see where youre coming from but different games have different ways of story telling and the reasoning behind them. I like the souls style because it leaves it HIGHLY up to interpretation even though miyazaki has his own story in his head, he wants us to come together as a community and put the pieces of the puzzle together as well as leaving it up to the player to make their own inferences in their head and create their own head cannon as he did while reading english fantasy novels without understanding the full story as he wasnt 100% proficient in translating the stories he read. This is what makes souls games so mesmerizing.
The story was really good and there were a lot of tender moments in the game. The acting was top notch. My favorite was the quest line with the broken puppet where you teach him various human emotions. I just love how optimistic he was about learning what it means to be human, despite him being on the floor all twisted up.
I like the fact that they're branching out to different classic fairy tale stories and not just limiting it to Pinocchio. It reminds me of what Santa Monica did/is doing with the god of war franchise.
The garbled dialogue is not random though, it's a character substitution. And it's difficult, but you can make out the original English letters behind the symbols yourself in a first play-through. (This is a lot easier when watching a stream/video since you won't be focused on fighting).
Love this game. Kinda thought it was going to be meh, but honestly, it feels fairly different from the other “souls like” and has this kind of consistent charm.

I have a thing for old stories being realized in an entirely different light - as far as I know, Lies of P is incredibly well made with how it utilized its source material. I’m so excited to see what they do with Oz, which in itself has plenty of whimsical and disturbing elements.
Another detail i found was that the play that goes on before the king of the puppets boss fight is a i guess preview of the choice you can make at the end of the game if you agree to give Geppetto your heart. He goes and basically kills everyone, hangs them and then puts the p organ into the body he prepared. Very dark once you realize it
@@Kerwell most definitely, still not entirely sure how or why Romeo became the King of Puppets, but I imagine his transformation from human to Puppet, was worse and more painful than P's.
@@chriswihulu i agree, unless he was completely sedated. as for how romeo became 'king of the puppets' he was able to understand the frequency of ergo and was control the puppets. the same way vinigni was able to speak to you through ergo frequency, thats how romeo was controlling the puppets. he did this to make them combat the infected and also try to warn you about Geppetto's plan. however, when making you, Geppetto tinkered with some things to make you not able to hear him and the others clearly, which is why you're only able to in ng+. Also once talking to Geppetto after killing romeo, he will take curiousity in your changing and wonder if romeo 'got to you' which i take it as 'did he relay my plan to you'
It’s clever that they took the already existing lore of Pinocchio and added to it with their own lore while staying true to the original fairytale, Great video.

For the scrapped watchman if you are in NG+ the crazed subtitles are translated and it turns out he was just avenging them after they died of petrifaction disease as the fight starts he says someone along the lines of that the children were frozen and we didn’t come to help and names them off during the fight maybe the watchman had his ego awaken and maybe that is the reason he got scrapped but that is just a theory
Can you explain what the puppet frenzy is all about in your opinion? The interpretation "Geppetto started the frenzy to harvest Ergo" leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. He was an alchemist at the forefront of Ergo research, he had access to huge amounts of Ergo when it was extracted. Instead of keeping it for himself he created puppets and put all this precious Ergo into them. If he really needed more Ergo in a pinch after the mines depleted, the first logical step would be to recall the puppets and get their Ergo back, since they are under his control. Killing humans beforehand would certainly add to the Ergo, but it's never hinted how he's supposed to retrieve all of it. He did create the P organ to receive a lot of Ergo but he couldn't have anticipated that Sophia would awake it by giving it her own Ergo. For one thing, Sophia is acting on her own and only rewinding time to allow P to free her, not to play a part in anyone else's plan. At the beginning of the game P and Geppetto's workshop are hidden at the back of a train and Sophia states that she's had a lot of trouble finding it. If Geppetto thought P could wake up by himself, then leaving his precious P organ in the middle of the frenzy would be foolhardy as anyone or anything could damage it if Sophia wasn't the first to find it. So I think overall the puppet frenzy is but one parameter in the whole experiment of creating an Ergo powered superhuman, but it's never fully explained what it accomplishes exactly. I would love to hear your thoughts. Great video!

The black cats spear part has something interesting info as well, the fight against the Mad Donkey shares a similar info that he's blind while the Black cat is half blind, could it be that he escaped a terrible fate at the last moment?
I am amazed at how much lore this little game actually has. It's like every now and then I'll come across a video espousing something new that I havent heard before. I also get new channels to watch out of it, so cool deal.
After finally beating the game and getting to understand that parry mechanic better, I really can say that this game is absolutely gorgeous and I enjoy my subsequent playthrough even more
I've been dying for a video like this to fill in some of the more hidden crap that I'm too dumb to notice. But I wasn't expecting to hear such a soothing voice as well. Definitely gonna subscribe to hear more of that and learn more details like this, since I can't get enough of this game!

Unfortunately do to stress both in life and work I haven't beaten lies of p nor elden ring yet but I love learning about the lore in the meantime. Especially with lies of p. I've watched all your Lies of P videos that are out as of now and I'm so glad I've found them! Your video presentation, research and voice make for such an amazing watch. I can't wait to see more of this world and your telling of it.
Murphy is also related to the child in the window you find earlier. If you go back to him after defeating Murphy you can give him a whistle proving he’d changed. The child mentions to other children he used to play with.
I loved that video. There were some details I already Knew and some I didn't. There is one thing about lore that I found very interesting, it has do with our initial playstyle. When we're about to choose our style we have: Cricket, Bastardos and Sweeper. So the name of those Styles and weapons they come are referring to the factions of Stalkers in Game, Sweepers use heavy and brutal Weapons with a more raw outfit, as the Bastard come from fancy and stylish weapons. The 3rd style, the crick must have something to do with the legendary stalker, since you can see she carries a saber when you get to Isle of alchemist. Not only that, there are two times where her style is referenced by the Black Rabbit Brotherhood when the 3rd Brother says:"You're not a bastard, nor a Sweeper you're much like..." and fighting against the Red Fox when she says:"Your moves remind me of the legendary stalker." The name of the factions can be from pejorative nicks given to each other. The Bastard come from noble families while the Sweepers are from the hoods.

i love all the details and secrets in this game, the reference to other books. Also i think that the red and the white singers might be a refence to alice, and the experiment who tells that he loves patricia looks like the scarecrow of Oz. I hope they release a dlc soon or a lies o p 2 to know new things about LP.
I am also convinced that the Two Dragon sword is Alidoros', look at the flourish on the handle. He lost his finger, so his grip and balance would be off so he crafted the strap to continue fighting for Eugenie
thank you for this video. this was my first souls game because the story and little lore tidbits compelled me to continue playing even though the game was so punishing. the story of adelina and her story makes a lot more sense but also more sad
I didn't see the silhouette of the woman and her hair on the gold coin tree until you pointed it out, and I've put over 150 hours into this game. Lovely detail, and good catch!! Also, regarding the Golden Lie, when in NG+ and onwards, it starts out as a relatively plain looking staff, and only gets the fully realized gold leaves/coin fruits as you lie more in the playthrough.
It would make perfect sense if he was a listener.. if he painted that portrait, he definitely put a piece of himself into it, as artists do! Hence the golden lie with the gold coins! IMO. Great video!
Great video. I love those game. When it comes to more questions I actually have a pretty big one: what is the nameless puppets made of and powered by? When we look into it’s head the technology looks way more advanced and modern than what we know from all the other puppets. But then we know it’s the first puppet Geppetto ever made, so how does it make sense that better technology is being used in the earliest model but not the newer ones? And what is that yellow energy? Is the puppet powered by golden ergo?

Holy shit what an amazing video! The gold tree having the shape of a crying woman is something I completely missed. I just found this channel, and besides the adorable voice, this is such a well put together video, I'm definitely gunna check out more of your work. There is so much to LOP, and a lot unanswered. Like the frenzy for instance. How and why did Papa G start it? What was his intention? Did he mean for the puppets to go all fucky wucky? How did he plan on stopping it, and was P that instrument for stopping the frenzy. My headcanon is that to get a leg up on the monster plague, Geppetto started the frenzy to cull the human population, thereby starving the plague of its food source and means to propogate. Admittedly thatbis pretty dark tho, however not entirely out of the realm of possibility, as in the Real Boy ending, Papa G sends Carlo2.0 to kill all the humans in the hotel. Wild stuff. Again, great video. I appreciate you. Edit: where do you get all these super dope images. Half of them I've never seen, like the notebook doodles and notes, some of the character face shots like Simon is one I haven't seen, but the coolest is easily the Murphy picture with the kids drawing on him. How flippin cool is that!?

If I remember right, the Puppet Frenzy was to cause an excess amount of ergo to power P's P-Organ, which would eventually be transferred into the nameless puppet, which using the Arm of God ( I think? ) would be used to revive the original Carlo, who is then sent to kill the people at the hotel, creating the perfect world for Carlo to live in, happily ever after.

i still wonder what it mean about the guy that fall in love with his puppet i'm playing that side-quest and lie to him that his puppet write message that she love him(which there's none) and then after you rescues Test Subject 826 he say that how did that puppet there write message that she love him or something does our lies become true or something?
That is such a great question; I think that a lot of the lies you tell in the game can be interpreted as true once you find out what Ergo really is. So when you look back at all of your responses, it turns out that they are true so there is another layer there to what it means to be human.
I have contextualised it as P also being able to "read" Ergo as Test Subject 826, because your choice is very specific that she left behind a message. Even though we can't really tell if that's the case in the side quest itself, P must have known on some level, that there was a message and what it was about.

I have a couple of theories from this vid: -My theory for Dorian Gray is that the painting's frame is made out of gold coin tree bark. And the fruit budding off the nose could be the tears of Carlo as the painting is tied to Carlo's soul. With him killing Romeo and witnessing the destruction caused by his father. -I theorize Murphy was a dead child thus making him likable to a kid as his ergo awakened and he told the children his name. -Camille is responsible for creating the statue as well as it seems she knew of the P organ and likely knew about it from Gepetto. The falling baby is also potentially a reference to rockabye baby with a falling cradle accompanied by a baby. If Camille is Carlo's mom potentially this baby was Carlo as Camille the Puppet claimed it was her baby that fell. And we can draw the conclusion that the 2 Camilles are one in the same with Ergo.

Also to add: Victor's design also seems influenced by Bane from the Batman comics, who also gets his superhuman strenght from chemicals and drugs supplied to his body in the form of tanks, containing VENOM, a drug highly addictive and toxic, which in turns for Victor it could explain why he is strong against acid during his first phase but then weak agains it during his second phase.

For one thing, Sophia is acting on her own and only rewinding time to allow P to free her, not to play a part in anyone else's plan. At the beginning of the game P and Geppetto's workshop are hidden at the back of a train and Sophia states that she's had a lot of trouble finding it. If Geppetto thought P could wake up by himself, then leaving his precious P organ in the middle of the frenzy would be foolhardy as anyone or anything could damage it if Sophia wasn't the first to find it. So I think overall the puppet frenzy is but one parameter in the whole experiment of creating an Ergo powered superhuman, but it's never fully explained what it accomplishes exactly. I would love to hear your thoughts. Great video!

The Gold Coin Tree fact really blew my mind, I never saw it.

The black cats spear part has something interesting info as well, the fight against the Mad Donkey shares a similar info that he's blind while the Black cat is half blind, could it be that he escaped a terrible fate at the last moment?
I am amazed at how much lore this little game actually has. It's like every now and then I'll come across a video espousing something new that I havent heard before. I also get new channels to watch out of it, so cool deal.
After finally beating the game and getting to understand that parry mechanic better, I really can say that this game is absolutely gorgeous and I enjoy my subsequent playthrough even more

Murphy is also related to the child in the window you find earlier. If you go back to him after defeating Murphy you can give him a whistle proving he’d changed. The child mentions to other children he used to play with.
I loved that video. There were some details I already Knew and some I didn't. There is one thing about lore that I found very interesting, it has do with our initial playstyle. When we're about to choose our style we have: Cricket, Bastardos and Sweeper. So the name of those Styles and weapons they come are referring to the factions of Stalkers in Game, Sweepers use heavy and brutal Weapons with a more raw outfit, as the Bastard come from fancy and stylish weapons. The 3rd style, the crick must have something to do with the legendary stalker, since you can see she carries a saber when you get to Isle of alchemist. Not only that, there are two times where her style is referenced by the Black Rabbit Brotherhood when the 3rd Brother says:"You're not a bastard, nor a Sweeper you're much like..." and fighting against the Red Fox when she says:"Your moves remind me of the legendary stalker."
The name of the factions can be from pejorative nicks given to each other. The Bastard come from noble families while the Sweepers are from the hoods.

i love all the details and secrets in this game, the reference to other books. Also i think that the red and the white singers might be a refence to alice, and the experiment who tells that he loves patricia looks like the scarecrow of Oz. I hope they release a dlc soon or a lies o p 2 to know new things about LP.

thank you for this video. this was my first souls game because the story and little lore tidbits compelled me to continue playing even though the game was so punishing. the story of adelina and her story makes a lot more sense but also more sad

Also, regarding the Golden Lie, when in NG+ and onwards, it starts out as a relatively plain looking staff, and only gets the fully realized gold leaves/coin fruits as you lie more in the playthrough.
It would make perfect sense if he was a listener.. if he painted that portrait, he definitely put a piece of himself into it, as artists do! Hence the golden lie with the gold coins! IMO. Great video!

Great video. I love those game. When it comes to more questions I actually have a pretty big one: what is the nameless puppets made of and powered by? When we look into it’s head the technology looks way more advanced and modern than what we know from all the other puppets. But then we know it’s the first puppet Geppetto ever made, so how does it make sense that better technology is being used in the earliest model but not the newer ones? And what is that yellow energy? Is the puppet powered by golden ergo?

Holy shit what an amazing video! The gold tree having the shape of a crying woman is something I completely missed. I just found this channel, and besides the adorable voice, this is such a well put together video, I'm definitely gunna check out more of your work. There is so much to LOP, and a lot unanswered. Like the frenzy for instance. How and why did Papa G start it? What was his intention? Did he mean for the puppets to go all fucky wucky? How did he plan on stopping it, and was P that instrument for stopping the frenzy. My headcanon is that to get a leg up on the monster plague, Geppetto started the frenzy to cull the human population, thereby starving the plague of its food source and means to propogate. Admittedly thatbis pretty dark tho, however not entirely out of the realm of possibility, as in the Real Boy ending, Papa G sends Carlo2.0 to kill all the humans in the hotel. Wild stuff. Again, great video. I appreciate you.

If I remember right, the Puppet Frenzy was to cause an excess amount of ergo to power P's P-Organ, which would eventually be transferred into the nameless puppet, which using the Arm of God ( I think? ) would be used to revive the original Carlo, who is then sent to kill the people at the hotel, creating the perfect world for Carlo to live in, happily ever after.

Yes, I know, it's a rip off of when Johnny and Daniel teamed up at the end of that one Season of Cobra Kai, but I still think it would be cool, lol :)

i'm playing that side-quest and lie to him that his puppet write message that she love him(which there's none) and then after you rescues Test Subject 826 he say that how did that puppet there write message that she love him or something does our lies become true or something?
That is such a great question; I think that a lot of the lies you tell in the game can be interpreted as true once you find out what Ergo really is. So when you look back at all of your responses, it turns out that they are true so there is another layer there to what it means to be human.
I have contextualised it as P also being able to "read" Ergo as Test Subject 826, because your choice is very specific that she left behind a message. Even though we can't really tell if that's the case in the side quest itself, P must have known on some level, that there was a message and what it was about.

I have like three playthroughs on the game and I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to the Test Subject npc you showed for the Sisters!
Yeah that one was really easy to miss! And talking to him reveals an ending to another quest you do earlier in the game!
Another little detail is that if you look at your shadow when you are near the stargazer at the hotel you can see how long Carlos nose is.

I listened to the song 'feel' after each boss fight in Hotel Krat 😂
The music was so good, that singer was incredible.
I have a couple of theories from this vid:
-My theory for Dorian Gray is that the painting's frame is made out of gold coin tree bark. And the fruit budding off the nose could be the tears of Carlo as the painting is tied to Carlo's soul. With him killing Romeo and witnessing the destruction caused by his father.
-I theorize Murphy was a dead child thus making him likable to a kid as his ergo awakened and he told the children his name.
-Camille is responsible for creating the statue as well as it seems she knew of the P organ and likely knew about it from Gepetto. The falling baby is also potentially a reference to rockabye baby with a falling cradle accompanied by a baby. If Camille is Carlo's mom potentially this baby was Carlo as Camille the Puppet claimed it was her baby that fell. And we can draw the conclusion that the 2 Camilles are one in the same with Ergo.

Also to add: Victor's design also seems influenced by Bane from the Batman comics, who also gets his superhuman strenght from chemicals and drugs supplied to his body in the form of tanks, containing VENOM, a drug highly addictive and toxic, which in turns for Victor it could explain why he is strong against acid during his first phase but then weak agains it during his second phase.
