I just bought this today. It's a monster. The demo does not do it justice by a long shot. The sounds and karma technology are wildly amazing. There are choirs, strings, pianos, synths, acoustic guitars, and drums beyond belief. Great sequencer... most functions highly intuitive. No offense to the video but go demo it yourself - this is one beautiful instrument.
Years later, this keyboard is still awesome even tho it does turn yellow on some white surfaces and rumor has it that the screen is a problem. Maybe cause of XY mode. I still love it
I bought the M3. The sounds are very nice with the Radias option installed. The Motif XS sounds are super hyper realistic. It's a matter of taste. For sequencing and ease of use. I have to give thumbs up to Korg. :-) The sounds of the Radias module are suuupppper.
Motif XS can acomodate 2gb of RAM (yes, even Motifator is selling two DIMMs of 1gb so you can install and have 2gb of RAM on your XS). And now, with the Motif XF coming to war, RAM is not a problem, because you can buy a flash expansion and have your samples immediately at hand when you turn on the synth. Thanks, Korg.
create a combi with the sounds you want to use/split. you can map the whole keybed with many sounds/zones/octaves. once your combi is made, go to menu/page 3 timbre param. there you can choose the transposition value for each sound in your combi. then go to menu/p4 zone. there you can choose where on the keybed your sound will be active. you can create neat and tidy splits or have sounds overlap if you want.
God Blessed Me with This Keyboard...All I Can Do Is Just Praise His Name Not Just because He Blessed Me with a Keyboard But Because Of Everything Hes Ever Done in my Life And I Will Continue To bless his Name With this Keyboard...I Give myself away too you Oh Lord
@MisaelCastilloBrenes Yes, I just saw it right now and we have to admit that KRONOS was a huge, huge, step further; a true slap on our faces. Yes, we deserved it, but of course I say it for the good. Something had to happen and fortunately Korg took the current ideas and turned them into a big toolbox. We sometimes invest too much on computer to have better sounding instruments but sometimes this search is tedious. Hopefully I'll pick a KRONOS and will produce an album on it!
brilliant. Thanks - do you have to put a special mode on for it to do that? or will the ribbon controler automaticaly do that? how do you get that strumming effect on the ribbon? I'm going to go to a shop so i can have a play on one, to see if i really want it. so i'd like to know how to get that feautre on :) ? Thanks
Hi, I have mine for 4+ years until now and It haven´t failed. Korg has been implemented touch screens since many many years ago (I think the Triton was the first). I had an issue with a SW button that stopped working. I opened the keyboard myself and removed all dust... and that was all. Hope you have your screen fixed by now.
korg m1 from 1988 to 1998 korg triton from 1999 to 2007 korg m3 from 2007 to present cant wait to korg releases there next flagship workstation. cause then the m3 will be easyer to get for cheap
@joeljjison: They're not exactly one for one, the Nord Wave is not a workstation, and the M3 is not a VA synth. See 7:37, maybe that's something that would suit you. Looks kick ass.
i remember trying this keyboard on guitar cent, note im no piano player, i couldn't find like the "shredding effects" like for soloing, i tried electric guitar but it sounded so not like korg, o well maybe looked on the wrong direction, the roland juno d has pretty cool shredding patches or whatever
wow this keyboard sounds great in both piano and synth sounds. i think ive found my dream keyboard. I was gunna get a triton but then i watched this video that changed my mind. Is it hard to learn your way around the keyboard?
im getting the 73 key version because i want more keys but i dislike weighted keys... so ill stick with the 73 key model... and what can you actually do with the radias?
@maltcus Yeah, sorry for my outburst - I think the M3 is largely great - it just drives me to low points when I try to delve beyond basics, and to program KARMA. I mean there are some Combi's with great KARMA, but creating original user patterns is simply beyond pushing a few sliders, which only ever seems to slightly modify the sounds. I've had the synth for nearly 2 years, and I just can't find out how to really make proper changes to preset patterns.
So if you have the 73 key version and you put a radias and m3 on it, can you record and stuff straight to the m3 from the radias, or do you still use cables?
How long is the touch-screen supposed to work for?! My one has stopped working after only a couple of years. Implementing a touch-screen was a very bad idea because they don't last long
can the m50 split in two sounds r more and change the octave of each sound????????????need for a live band i only going to use one keyboard for now until i can buy two. so i need to be ably to play two split! eg piano on the left and organ on the right!!!!! thank look reply!!!!!
is this workstation ideal for creating electronica music? i have limited money and want to buy the right instrument for creating electronica. any advice?
@guerreroMXacordionX3: I think it's one of 2.5 millions KARMA features... Read the 2 Korg Oasys reviews on Sound on Sound website, Karma is a bit explained.
They havnt changed that much in the last 20 years, just added technology with computer formats and How many differnt types of M3 keyboards are their, i see people using different types with different displays ?
Great synth, but it's killing me trying to find out how to make user-made KARMA patterns - I've spent hours & hours now looking in the manual & software manuals & on the Internet!!!
unfortunatly i dont have enough money to buy the m3 but i do have enough to buy its baby brother the m50. would any1 recomend the m50. if not tell me another workstation tht i could buy
I was thinking of the M-50 but what the hell, I might as well just go all the way and grab this sexy ass thing here. I hope my fantom doesn't get jealous as I sideline her to get acquainted with my NEW main chick.
Dont expect computer-integration to work, Korg dont update their USB-drivers unless there's brand new gear around to sell... As such Mac users that have updated their systems since november cant connect any of their gear to their computers anymore - and still no support... Similar problems are increasing for windows users as well, though they are so far more sporadic... Mind you, the USB-drivers are atm over 10 months old...
Nobody is a bigger fan of Korg products than me so don't get me wrong, but who wants to do all their sequencing on a tiny little black and white touch screen? I just don't get why Korg continues making these all in one jobs when they really need to put their money more into filling these new boards with killer sample packs, it would help them on many fronts including people that already sequence with a computer.
I'm at the end of my tether with this synth... For so many years, just like the guy below said, this damn touch-screen is horrendous! Once the M3's screen decides to go, it's messed up for good. Even buying & changing hardware, as well as screen re-calibration does not fix it. Although this synth may have some other nice features, I'd avoid buying this synth. You'll just be throwing your money down the drain.
Rich7714 i had a problem before with screen. But i sold that m3 and buy another m3. And the m3 i have now is my 3rd one. it sounds good. And its gery useful. Believe me
I like my S6...the B3 was a little bit old after 5 years of intense fumbling around and getting the bits and pieces how I wanted it to sound. I looped with tape! I MADE music by hand. Yep, music with records spinning and beats pounding wires running everywhere. So in walks this guy with one of those slick deals like the one here... I'm just goofing with you, but bottom line- what would the masters have done with this 200-300 years ago? Hope better than this jet ski commercial crap in this ad
Fucking touchscreen is notorious for breaking...just got mine used and once in a while the screen just doesn't work for like a minute...I might have to replace this fuckin thing it only costs like 60 bucks for the parts but you gotta fuck with shit and idunno if I want to...
Exactly right! Except replacing the screen won't solve the problem. There must be something behind the screen, or some other bit of hardware causing it, because after replacing my screen, I continue to get the same problem.
Damn, I was about to buy one cheap and try to buy a new touch screen. I watched a video here on YT, I thought installing a new screen cover (touch sensitive, for 3o USD) would solve the problem, grrrr.
I wish that the little children who are obsessed with counting knobs would go away and let us musicians who actually know how to actually use on of these be.

Perfect. Those used in a recording studio. The complete synthesizer with piano keys

With Karma, you can have "normal" aperggios as well. You can select a basic aperggio GE (Generated Effect) instead of a complex one.
I think i will buy the M3 rack module.
That can be used with a standard MIDI keyboard right?
KORG!!! Want KORG! Even their merest toy, the Kaossilator, is incredible. I've got the latter, and I'll try to get the former ASAP...
wow u make songs on the keyboard and then put them on ur computer with a USB!!!!!!! THATS AWESOME!!!
nice presentation and very thorough
How can I do that 3:06 minute effect on my m3 where I have to enter? somebody help me please
@EduCamargo The new Kronos have a 30 GBs SSD. It can play sampled sounds from that disk so as you say, Ram is not a problem now.
brilliant. Thanks - do you have to put a special mode on for it to do that? or will the ribbon controler automaticaly do that? how do you get that strumming effect on the ribbon? Cool overview!

i love this thing im bout to get me one in a couple weeks
He has some skills !
@thestormcarver do you mean the 'acoustic' sound, or the 'synthesizer' sound, that is *better* in Yamaha?
thx.
3.06 :) when he does that thing under the joystick, can that be done for things like banjo and any chord you want? or just ones on the pads!?
thanks
I love this keyboard!
i remember trying this keyboard on guitar cent, note im no piano player, i couldn't find like the "shredding effects" like for soloing, i tried electric guitar but it sounded so not like korg, o well maybe looked on the wrong direction, the roland juno d has pretty cool shredding patches or whatever
This is very good, but where can I find out how to program sounds, 1. Hammond Organ, I want 1. Strings, 2. Flute and 3. Tibia sounds.? Shirley
wow this keyboard sounds great in both piano and synth sounds. i think ive found my dream keyboard. I was gunna get a triton but then i watched this video that changed my mind. Is it hard to learn your way around the keyboard?

nice workstation. i want it! :D i love that :D
Very good.Thanks a lot
And how do you use them. I played this machine live, but i didn't know how to use regular arpegiators. Only with karma, lol.
so how do you get an electric guitar sound on the m3?
So if you have the 73 key version and you put a radias and m3 on it, can you record and stuff straight to the m3 from the radias, or do you still use cables?
does the m3 have hip hop drum kits...good ones
Thanks for the advice!
As long as this makes me famous, I'll buy it.
How long is the touch-screen supposed to work for?! My one has stopped working after only a couple of years. Implementing a touch-screen was a very bad idea because they don't last long

@guerreroMXacordionX3
You need to use the Karma.
I actually just drooled a little.
so that can be done on a banjo sound ?? :)
@kuma90 that part looks cool. find the harp!
can somebody tell me how to do what he does in minute 3:06 with the guitar please
@guerreroMXacordionX3: I think it's one of 2.5 millions KARMA features... Read the 2 Korg Oasys reviews on Sound on Sound website, Karma is a bit explained.
What is the best for creating soul/r&b when you don't have a band
Real musicians.
it's kinda funny because when they play it sounds SO GOOD but when someone plays it, it sounds SO different! haha lol
@prince4d lol heeell no i have the korg trinity and its 10 years old now and still working like the first day i bought it.
how do you do 3:07? :S, i have a m3 and i don´t know to do it
hi anyone know why the M3 is discontinued? M4? on its way. does anyone knoww hat the best work station made currently by korg? thanks in the market
John Q Public korg Kronos
Do this Korg also have regular arpeggios, not only Karma?
Yes.
@francislalan thank you very much ill try
They havnt changed that much in the last 20 years, just added technology with computer formats and How many differnt types of M3 keyboards are their, i see people using different types with different displays ?

@Eldererr yes, I think so
"Why? Because we know you love 'em."
It's true.
Ten years on and it's still true.
how much does this cost?
what chords were those?
At 7:35 it says something that says a radis module. What is it? I googled it, but found it no where.
Relinquished Memories radias, no radis, www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&client=tablet-android-samsung&source=android-browser&q=korg+radias#scso=uid_WjIGfgAHMe0K32MxKQ308w_5:540

That's crazy!!! :D
How to upgrade
yep, of course.
Make a new one please!!
Probably not... I don' t think it sold well. It retailed for about $8,999 usd...
All right this shit good
@WakemanFan90 Yes :)
@MrDmc44111 You claim that this tool doesnt sound like on this demo ??!!
This or a Virus Ti2?
Zaytoven uses this an the mpc 2000/2500
my head is spinning!
Selling my Yamaha Motif and Korg X-50 for this!
KORG , UPDATE THE OASYS SEQUENCER !!!
!!!THIS IS WAOW
can you say EXPENSIVE AS FUCK?
Basically the reason for that is caus no one buys the GT anymore compared to the M3 because of the price and specs
can I have some of yours madutdman?

ohh i forgot the trinity
wow... thats all I can say
l'unica pecca è il display touch screen... che durante il live è scomodissimo...
EastWest Colossus, sample ROM 40Gb = realistic
Motif XS, sample ROM 350mb? = as much realism as Santa Claus
get a microkorg and you'll just wanna upgrade it later just a tip :P
totally true Lol
this has a lot of stuff the oasys doesn't have..hmm
X-Y mode: A la Kaossilator...
I wish that the little children who are obsessed with counting knobs would go away and let us musicians who actually know how to actually use on of these be.
woody side panels...
