As for the lighter action key-beds,you really shouldn't believe everything you read and instead, try the 61 & 73 keys for yourself, because key-bed feel is far too subjective, from one individual to another.

Still looking for a keyboard which allows to switch fast between sounds/combis. I know Kronos has setlist mode but way above my budget. When I see the Combi- Page at 16:30... would it be possible to name the combi Song1 and insert all the sounds I need for that song in the slots with the green „play“ buttons and switch trough them as the song progresses? Hope that was understandable. Sorry, poor English!
That's one of the reasons the combis are created for, separate the instruments by key zones, or use those 16 tracks to choose your instrument and activate/deactivate them (play/mute), you can also set the instruments by velocity, for instance you can have a piano on track1 and a guitar on track2, and when you play the keys softly you will listen the piano and if you press they keys harder you will listen the guitar. The only precaution is that you will have to be careful with the polyphony, not adding many instruments using 2 OSC on each track (strings, brass etc) because you could run out of polyphony. Anyway, you will hardly ever use 16 different instruments in a song.
was looking for a new keyboard ... but ill stick to my controller which happens to have aftertouch (Novation Impulse 61) I'll carry on with my omnisphere, Kontakt , Apple mainstage , logic and falcon also thinking A good controller with some excellent iPad apps might would be capable of more for half the cost
how to connect to pc please, I've installed all the krome drivers and midi I can't access the korg editor and my DAW does not detect the keyboard, I am using windows 7 65bit. Your urgent reply is much appreciated. Thanks a lot!
Trying to choose between the Roland Juno Gi & the Korg Krome (61 key). If anyone has any input on which they think is better that'd be awesome. The application in which I'd be using either, would be for studio production purposes & live performance purposes.
Howdy Johnny I own both. The Krome 61 is far superior in terms of sound, and the ability to edit, modify, and create your own patches. It's sequencer is also more powerful than the Juno's digital recorder from what I can tell, although I'll confess I don't use these features very much, so others may disagree. They're both pretty cool boards and I picked my Juno up second hand very cheaply so I'm not complaining, but the Krome would be my weapon of choice. I will say though that the Juno's keybed feels a bit less flimsy to my touch.
will i get user fuction in this keyboard? i.e i want tone no 45 & 46 so i can hold on 40 and enter only single no 5 & 6......this function are in this keyboard
Allow me to explain,as it's a very simple concept; the purpose of converting multiple midi tracks to audio,is in situations were one would want to create heavy sound layering & a multitude of tracks and then condensing it down to a single stereo track in a DAW,thus conserving a PC's CPU power. So let me get this straight, you want a J-50 that has a 240 X 64 display screen and yet,you think the Krome's 7" screen is tiny?? Don't like to use your fingernails...ever heard of a stylus pen?
Can anyone tell me which audio interface is the best for KORG Krome/Kronos..??? I have checked out a number of videos of these keyboards but the audio quality in those videos is not as same as when I played the keyboards..!!! I found the answer nowhere about which audio interface to use to these studio like beautiful sound...????
the chrome will sound quite amature , I would not recommend a Korg Krome or korg M50, they where very dissapointments. If you could go for kronos, I would do that. Or other branches
Cool instrument, i really feel instrument technology is falling way behind though, there are so many spectacular things to experiment with and do, seems like some serious ipad or iphone compatibility or some new more accessible customizable way of doing things could come around, if only they would try. customize your instrument to your liking, choose different styles of mod wheels and sticks. Interface style, colors. Mr. Me the keyboard guy never gets to feel personalized, when hundreds of thousands of guitarists always do. haha. The closest thing to a good, stylish, decent personal statement of an instrument may be TeenageEngineering's OP-1
I would like to accelerate the rotation of the leslie for the organ sounds on the krome I find that it does not rotate fast enough and it is too soft. Please someone to explain the settings to correct it. Thank you..... You have to go to IFX setting but HOW do you go to IFX?????????????????????? Comment on accélère le leslie assigné au joystick? GRRRRR j'en ai marre de galèrer à l'aide quelqu'un il parrait qu'il faut entrer dans IFX1 mais comment on entre dans ce ptn d'IFX ??? J'en ai marre
I tried to synchronize my Kurzweil's sequencer to my DAW,but to no avail...it was a cluster-fuck..as I had zero experience in that area. I only became serious about studio recording about 4 years ago,so I am not that technical with gear & I'm scrambling to get up to date with the times. I tried my hand at integrating my MOX6 to Cubase, but being new to Cubase,it was way over my head & it was the first time I dealt with that scenario & I never did resolve the issue.
I'm no fanboy of any particular company either,as I just choose whatever works for me,but in the budget arena, good PC integration is an issue. I suppose that if I had the opportunity to try a Roland J-50 in a store,it might persuade me into buying one,but I am concerned that Roland keyboards might have the exclusivity to Sonar,as Yamaha does to Cubase and I might have compatibility issues with other DAWS. If the J50 has the sounds I seek, then great, but I need to know the ROM content, first.
Korg in general or the Krome specifically? Perhaps the problem is in the player and not the machine? Ever heard of a guy named Jordan Rudess?? Of course Mr. Rudess could probably make the cheapest Fisher Price kiddie keyboard sound GREAT.
You "doubt" that the street price for a new J-50 is $1999?"Realistically",the street price is 17-$1800 for a new J-50?Perhaps some retailer somewhere had one for that price as a black Friday deal....but the normal everyday street price is $1999. Aside from that, only a customer return or a demo model will sell for less than 2 grand. "Usefulness" of any given feature is subjective,as if the majority wanted audio as you do,then I believe that Korg would have implemented it & raised the price a bit.
I owned a Kurzweil PC3LE6 also...the display screen is at least 10 years behind the times, the onscreen menu layouts are horrible, only 64 note polyphony and the only PC integration,is the optional sound editor software and very basic midi controller functionality. The one & only really good advantage over the Krome,is the PC3LE6's synth engine...but the PC3LE6 costs $500 more than the Krome 61 and the editor software is an additional $70. This is not competitive, nor a viable option either.
I certainly would like to have the ability to record a single stereo WAV file on the Krome, because that would be an excellent way to condense a song made in the sequencer to easily transfer to a DAW,but when you consider that that Krome has the most advanced sequencer & largest ROM content of any budget workstation on the market..well...that is not what I consider to be an "impractical toy". It seems to me that live use is most important to you,in which case you have plenty of options,so why..
The FA06 after long and plenty reviews seems to be top dog as a workstation. 16 FX (one for each track) plus master FX going straight to the outs, sampler as over 2000 sounds. What are Korg and Yamaha thinking?
People constantly complaining about the lack of Aftertouch... When was the last time you actually *used* the Aftertouch? I have a have dozen synths in my current rig, most have Aftertouch... which I barely ever use.
@@looneyburgmusic it depends, somebody that likes to play guitars, violins, sax, flutes will love to have AT, it makes the playing more realistic. It is lame that a $1,300 synth doesn't have AT, the KromeEX version should have had it. Even a $300 midi controller has AT.
@@gabrielirlanda as i said, its a feature that is included because its expected, not because it is a necessity. With my current rig that I use daily only my Yamaha SY77 has aftertouch, and i rarely need or use it.
@antimarxism, You are welcome to have my "JUPITER-50" for what it's worth! I'm taking it back to Guitar Center on this Tuesday and trading it in for the "Korg Krome"; and until then I'll wait for a good minute after having it to give an authentic comment... But the "J-50";( in my opinion after 6 months of wasted time; is like someone els described it :(
JP-50 and JP-80 are failures. They promised a lot but delivered little as time as shown. Roland ought to discontinue those synths, but unfortunately too many customers are still being tricked by the colorful appearance and name.
I actually like Roland's new Jupiter series for it's sounds(based on a video I saw) and effects, but the J-50 is $2,000 and with no sequencer & sampling,a bit overpriced. The VA synth & the 1 stereo audio track is appealing, but there's no mention of PCM ROM content, which worries me. I think that if Korg put another grand into the Krome,it would smoke the J-50. The J-80 is nice, but the Kronos is the same price AND has a midi/audio sequencer..which is why I will never pay Roland prices.
My plan is to write music for the new Sega Genesis, do I need to grow my fingernails long or tape styluses to my fingers to use the touch screen? Korg came out with "Karma" like 100 years ago and this has what it's come to...canned music for "Karaoke Night" at Applebees. Sorry to be Grinchy but I know I'm not alone in feeling the whole "workstation" thing is getting a bit tired. I love you Korg but you're chasing technology and losing.
Korg need to do a synth version of this and not up the price. So tired of them featuring drums pianos orchestra sounds. When 3/4 of their demo is strings and pianos, I move on. Nearly had me, but not quite. Love the structure of these but want more synth and less bontempi!
So what is all of this competition that the Krome has to contend with?I had the Yamaha MOX6 and in my opinion,it was one of the most limp & flimsiest key-beds I've ever felt...but some people like the action. The MOX only has 355MB of ROM and the 61 key costs $200 more than the Krome. The MOX6's pianos are average, the synth sounds are terrible, the display screen is ridiculous and the integration with Cubase is chaotic & there's compatibility issues with other DAWS. This is competitive??
Good god you're still talking. I showed my opinion, which is neither right nor wrong, and I can make any comparison I want... Like the similarities between your mum and a walrus for instance :P
I'm aware that some budget keyboards have sampling & multi-track audio, but there's always a TRADE OFF of features, isn't there? Think about it...how many Roland keyboards(for example),have quality sounds AND midi sequencing in such keyboards?None...actually.The Juno G was a nice idea,as it had midi, audio & sampling, but the sounds were terrible..thus rendering all of that functionality useless,in my opinion.
Once again: When do Kronos users get this basic sequencer features in their flagship Kronos workstation? A sequencer without pianorole editor is useless.
Musicianship does not compensate for poorly sampled drums & pianos and even 80MB is still spread too thin, considering how many presets the Extreme has. Regardless of what you paid,it doesn't make your EX's sounds any better than the Krome and you put one side by side to your EX,you would know the difference. The EX works for you-then great, but don't discount the Krome, just because of your EX's sampling & MOSS board. Maybe you should keep your unsubstantiated opinions about the Krome to yourself.
It's Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, not World Of Warcraft-genius....speaking of wit,you could stand to attain a bit more wit when it comes to knowing your keyboards & your video games.
It's almost an exact clone of the M50. KORG kinda dropped the ball on this one if you ask me. There is literally nothing new or innovative about this workstation.
Seeing this in retrospective, I love how Nick asks all the right questions..
I have a Korg Krome and being a self taught Beginner ,i find this Instrument is actually helping me get better each day. by way of experimenting with the miriad of sounds and rythms etc. Mony well spent.

18:30 Is it 6/4 over 4/4?
was looking for a new keyboard ... but ill stick to my controller which happens to have aftertouch (Novation Impulse 61)
I'll carry on with my omnisphere, Kontakt , Apple mainstage , logic and falcon
also thinking A good controller with some excellent iPad apps might would be capable of more for half the cost
how to connect to pc please, I've installed all the krome drivers and midi I can't access the korg editor and my DAW does not detect the keyboard, I am using windows 7 65bit.
CowboyNQ thanks for the input!
CowboyNQ nice informative post.
Cheers mate.
CowboyNQ thanks for the tip kind Sir!
All these workstations have that restaurant singer and porn soundtrack sound. Is there any famous artist who actually uses them?
Hello... I'm from indonesia want to ask tutorial how to save bank voice in Korg Krome... it's so confused
Haha. Yep, I'm livid...
Ooooh, so many hurtful words.
Anyway, I don't do forums. I go out there and find things out for myself and have a life : )
Kashmir time signatures: Drums 4/4, melody 3/4. The 2 down beats align every 12th beat
will i get user fuction in this keyboard?
i.e i want tone no 45 & 46 so i can hold on 40 and enter only single no 5 & 6......this function are in this keyboard
Yeah sure I HV 88 note krome it's great keyboard
True, and apparently from the Korg website, the Krome editor is only 32 bit and not AAX compatible for Pro Tools 11.
How I Put The Release Depth? Like a sustain with The pedal
The Indiana Jones track, just sells it to me.
I'm 30 seconds in. Oooh look! It's Elton John's son :)
Do anyone know where to get the c d for the Kong krome
Korg in general or the Krome specifically? Perhaps the problem is in the player and not the machine? Ever heard of a guy named Jordan Rudess?? Of course Mr. Rudess could probably make the cheapest Fisher Price kiddie keyboard sound GREAT.
RenaissanceMan929 rudess is beast when he comes to high
Rudess is a badass after all it's dream theater
Nice workstation but I'm gonna stick with my Triton Extreme :)
I have a Casio LK 100 lol so im gonna get a Krome or a Kross
MiddleEarth0069 how do you find the Kurzweil PC3K8? or is the Korg Kronos 2 2015 model 88 keys is still better? Thanks.
It seems to me that live use is most important to you,in which case you have plenty of options,so why..
please :-) What is the music title to 07.50 minutes
please help my :-)
and how muche cost it ?
Any good mellotron samples?
They saved .0001 cent leaving out the headphone jack. Damn bean counters.
the headphone jack is on the front
The FA06 after long and plenty reviews seems to be top dog as a workstation.
16 FX (one for each track) plus master FX going straight to the outs, sampler as over 2000 sounds.
What are Korg and Yamaha thinking?
Nice synth but no aftertouch is a bit of an omission - my 1988 M1 has it!
sweeneymini great you still have yours my Korg M1 died 7 years ago. Time to save up for the Korg Kronos 2 2015 88 keys.
People constantly complaining about the lack of Aftertouch... When was the last time you actually *used* the Aftertouch?
I have a have dozen synths in my current rig, most have Aftertouch... which I barely ever use.
Aftertouch... not that important, is it?
@@looneyburgmusic it depends, somebody that likes to play guitars, violins, sax, flutes will love to have AT, it makes the playing more realistic. It is lame that a $1,300 synth doesn't have AT, the KromeEX version should have had it. Even a $300 midi controller has AT.
@@gabrielirlanda as i said, its a feature that is included because its expected, not because it is a necessity. With my current rig that I use daily only my Yamaha SY77 has aftertouch, and i rarely need or use it.
Just hope it doesn't have the same build quality as my old Kronos had :(
Lol that is such a freaky theme to end with!
The only thing I care about: 'Does it change colour?...'
great !
Thank you :-)
@antimarxism, You are welcome to have my "JUPITER-50" for what it's worth!
It has a headphone jack. It's at the front on the left.
The J-80 is nice, but the Kronos is the same price AND has a midi/audio sequencer..which is why I will never pay Roland prices.
anyone knows what song he is playing at 7:52 ?
Sing it Back by Moloko. Love that song. :)
Korme or the MOX ???
wiggy80 Krome!
Dynamite Kid Moxf is way better and a kick ass rompler
Go for Krome!
Love the structure of these but want more synth and less bontempi!
using all the seq features? Nope... But the sounds are very professional!
Oye amigo cómo mi korg leo me no se prende en la pantalla se le sale sistem error
th-cam.com/video/urRM23G0qBA/w-d-xo.html
ahí está la solución
So what is all of this competition that the Krome has to contend with?I had the Yamaha MOX6 and in my opinion,it was one of the most limp & flimsiest key-beds I've ever felt...but some people like the action.
The MOX only has 355MB of ROM and the 61 key costs $200 more than the Krome.
The MOX6's pianos are average, the synth sounds are terrible, the display screen is ridiculous and the integration with Cubase is chaotic & there's compatibility issues with other DAWS.
This is competitive??
No aftertouch on a synth like this!
EGO TRIP Who cares about aftertouch? You’ll use it twice and that’s it.
Good god you're still talking.
I showed my opinion, which is neither right nor wrong, and I can make any comparison I want... Like the similarities between your mum and a walrus for instance :P
The kids are fighting.
If you didn't care, you would have stopped commenting after the first comment & ignored it altogether.
The Keybed of the 61 version.. is an aberrant shame.
Large color touchscreen on this synth but no aftertouch? Weak.
KORG : KEOME : EX 61 : in JAPAN ;

It's Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, not World Of Warcraft-genius....speaking of wit,you could stand to attain a bit more wit when it comes to knowing your keyboards & your video games.
I guessed £800, just £1 out!
your crazy...LOL
Its Queen - One Vision
It's almost an exact clone of the M50. KORG kinda dropped the ball on this one if you ask me. There is literally nothing new or innovative about this workstation.
How many sounds can it layer
