    I have them both; there IS a difference...and that’s why I have them both! It depends on what I’m working on or what feel I’m going for.

    I had an M3 and loved the pad and synth sounds. But I upgraded to the Kronos 2 and it’s way better than the M3. Far more editing features and more engines. The MS-20 and Polysix engines are sick!

    I just bought the M3 and I just love it the Sequencer is Easier than my Montage and new Fantom the Karma blows both boards away! With the sounds of all three. I'm loving my Productions. I really want a Kronos but I think Korg is phasing it out so I'm going to wait on the next new workstation! Great Demo💯💯💯💯

      I agree bout the sequencer on the M3, it's very complete with good editing features. I really like my Montage but the sequencer lacks al of these features. I also own a Kronos 2.. at least there's an edit function for the sequencer but no pianoroll and the cuelist (for arranging parts) is missing.
      Soundwise the Kronos is much better and it has a larger display but much more information together with smaller fonts (harder to read).
      Unfortunately my M3 is having problems with the touchdisplay at the moment. Hairdryer helps for the moment.. but don't know if this track will last. Yesterday I ordered a new one that has been recommended in video on YT. Hopefully this will solve it. How is your touchdisplay?

      I’m having hard time M3 sequencer. I have Motif XF I using that because super easy to make 16-Chanel MIDI patterns. M3 I have hard time making patterns, maybe because it’s difficult to workflow with my style. In fact I use M3 Karma to record MIDI sequencer patterns to Motof XF lol

    The stereo strings on the M3 sound great. The symphony strings on the Kronos sound like a freshly retaped Mellotron.

    Because m3 is some MB’s while Kronos is gigabytes. That’s pretty much software . Then an ssd drive. M3 however, is great as well. You don’t hear some of m3’s sound in other boards except m50. M3 is uniquely designed as well. I’m a just cool. Like an analog and futuristic look. M3 is very much one of a kind. You can def hear a difference too

    Kronos pianos far outshine those of the M3. That said, I personally find the M3 to be a warmer sounding instrument. They are both very special in their own way.

  • @LoryKohn
    @LoryKohn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    M3 is not sonically pristine which would be a problem if there weren't a zillion plugins available to spice it up and millions of mix engineers and mastering engineers who can sweeten it up. From a purely sonic perspective, the Roland Jupiter 50 I had before the M3 blows it away; on the other hand, the Jupiter was not particularly inviting or fun, and the M3 is incredibly deep with the sampling capability and sequencer. Then there's Karma which is unique and hours and hours of joy even if you don't completely understand it. M3 used is also half the price of the Kronos, which is loaded with all sorts of bread and butter sounds touring keyboardists appreciate but are way less interesting than lots of VSTIs not to mention all the small hardware synths coming into the scene. I know it's slightly insane to fall for the M3 in 2021 as I have, but I find Karma more inspiring than arpeggiators. Did I mention the keybed is absolutely fantastic? I have the 73-key version, and can't imagine liking the piano-key feel of the Kronos more. Would I kick the Kronos out of bed if one magically appeared in my life? No, but I'm not lusting after one since the M3 is plenty entertaining!

    • @MarianoPerez
      @MarianoPerez 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@solomonjenkins9505 but the korg m3 is not far behind. The difference is marginal, and if you wanted even more realism you can always do a combination of vsts and the m3. I would probably still buy an M3 given how cheap they go for these days over a kronos that's 3k to 4k usd. I'd definitely get the M3 over that nautilus that sells for $3k.

    Great Demo! M3 sounds ‘brighter’ Kronos sounds ‘darker’. They both sound great, but I’d say Kronos EP sounds and acoustic presets sound more realistic than M3 acoustic sounds, but I think M3 has better synth and brass sounds.
    I own M3-88 EXP+ v2.05 with 256 Card. Is worth selling for Kronos?
    Does Kronos have same Karma arpeggio engine and sound waveform presets as M3? I have lot custom program sounds and combo presets. Can I download my own M3 user presets bank into Kronos?
    Thank you!

    I wouldn’t call it a fair comparison from the first paired alone.

      Also, M3 touch screen allows Kaoss Pad style sound manipulation (recordable), it also has 8 assignable touch pads, and the M3 sequencer has "Piano Roll" editing capabilities (like a DAW). Kronos doesn't do any of that. Oh, and you can detach the module from the keyboard, making it far more portable. Kronos is amazing, but so also is Korg M3!

    The Kronos is a hybrid of both sample and a wave generator where the M3 is sampled based only. However each of them you can manipulate the samples with the built in editor or the PC editor. That said, the Kronos for its price does not possess the power and features as found in the Yamaha MODX. I have 2 M3s and planning on keeping them. I also have the MODX. A note on the MODX vs Kronos: These are both flag ship products from their respective manufacturer, the MODX is the brother of the Montage with only a few limitations. Now compare the price points of both, the Kronos and Montage (both flagship products) and you will come to the conclusion which is the overall better product. The MODX is the better instrument over Korg's flagship, Kronos.

    • @MiguelLluva
      @MiguelLluva 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MODX is a scam. The high price is not justified. Keys are made of plastic toy. The worst touch on an 88-key keyboard I have ever touched in my life. Few quality sounds. The rest, old FM sounds, really boring. If you want the sounds of advertising, you have to buy them at abusive prices on third parts. Never in my life a workstation has 5 user manuals. Poorly written and useless. If you find the menu hidden in a torturous user interface, you have to search the Internet. Even in Cubase (same manufacturer) it´s terrible to configure it as a controller.
      I have been a musician, sound technician and user of synthesizers for 42 years: MODX keyboard garbage!

    For me Korg ended dominance when they delisted the triton … In my experience the Oaysis is little different sonically from the M3 and they both to my ears sounds crap ..dynamically lacking for many voicings…shallow lacking in frequency range … limply present in a mix with other instruments , the top line developmental focus seems to have been constructing the boring preset patterns etc rather than the production of great sounding instruments. My Korg M1 piano sounds better than any of the presets in the fore mentioned . Great playing man🙏🏿🦄🎩👏👏
