Why the EVO 8 crushes the WRX/STI

  • In this episode of ANSWRD - the show where car owners review their vehicles, we go for a ride with Ruch in his 2003 Mitsubishi EVO 8 that has over 100,000 miles on it.
    ANSWRD is a series of car reviews by real owners. Not automotive journalists like Chris Harris, Doug Demuro or The Straight Pipes. Cars in this series include the Gaglardi Vex, Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 600LT, Ferrari F12/F430 and 458 Italia, Acura NSX, Corvette, FRS, BMWs, Drift Cars and others!
    The question Evo owners always get is "How does it compare to the WRX STI?" and about 2 minutes in, Ruch answers that question.
    Some other things covered in this video are trunk space, annoying problems like squeaks from the race brakes, modifications done to the car, the boost gauge, running E85 to get 400+ horsepower from an Evo and more. Hope you enjoy!

    A 4 door saloon, a large space on back seats plus the luggage. The performance, the affordability, tunability it is really a versatile car .

    I feel like the title should be why its better than an STi. Of course the Evo is better than the WRX. It has more options and is just better. For Mitsubishi, there Evo is (or was) there full on boy racer AWD monster and that's what the STi is for Subaru. The WRX is the "dumb down" version of the STi if that makes sense. Just to be clear I am not hating on the Evo I'm just saying why I think the title should be changed lol

      You can take the wing off with no issues, all you need to do is plug up the holes in the trunk. The wing is made to add downforce when you exceed 120 mph fyi.

    Good to finally see Ruch's Evo! Kind of interesting he mentions an S2k as a daily over this. My buddy has a red Evo 8, and surprisingly it is modded the same. Cams, exhaust, no apparent suspension mods. Kind of weird cams seems to be a big thing with Evo owners. I would worry about the smog!

    • @ruchgini2709
      @ruchgini2709 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Steve, yeah cams are a big thing in the Evo world. Back when they actually sniffed the car, it had no trouble passing, it actually was well under the required numbers. Nowadays they don't even sniff post 2000 cars so the cams are invisible anyway.

      I have owned both too and IMO the STI is way more solid than the (Cedia) EVO 7/8 . Had the STI prodrive , best car i ever owned . Driving an EVO 8MR now because the STI is very expensive and hard to get in Thailand .

      Actually i had the STI in Holland . Moved to Thailand 8 years ago and got a good deal on a Japanese import EVO 8MR . Problem is import cars like the EVO and STI are heavily taxed and very expensive in Thailand . For example a brand new Mazda BT50 with all the goodies is around U$25.000 ... a new EVO 10 will set you back U$130.000 . Since 2 years second hand import isn't even allowed anymore .
