I'm very surprised but very glad your dad enjoyed Magdalena Bay! I'd love to show my dad a song of theirs, but I have a feeling he'd hate it lol. He kept up with music going into the 2000's, but sadly he hated everything that was happening to mainstream pop music, and how digital everything sounded, which led to him falling out with it as a whole. Autotuned singing in particular gets on his nerves, as he feels it's used to mask a lack of talent. My dad's passion for music still exists, but he prefers sticking to 60s-90s music now. I've tried showing him AOTY, but he's busy, so I'll probably try and share some modern albums that he'd like sometime soon.
This video was so sweet, it made me emotional for some reason, I guess it was just seeing the bond you two have made me tear up. Been watching the channel now for about 6 1/2 years, kind of crazy to think about. Wish you both the very best. Here’s to 300 more SOS and beyond!
Love this video. I didn’t realize how much many of those songs really do sound like they could've been released in the 60s and 70s. Love meeting your dad.
This was fun to watch and heart warming! I like that your dad has an open mind to new stuff. And as a 42 year old who just discovered Television you're spot on with Marquee Moon still being picked up by new generations. It's such a good album! Fun fact: apparently both Julian and the guitar player from the Strokes say they did not listen to Television until after they released Is This It. They were more influenced by The Velvet Underground, which coincidentally so was Television. So perhaps both bands heard The Velvets in the same way and came up with a similar style, which I think is really cool
