We hope you enjoyed the incredible tour of William Smart's inspiring home above his workplace, crafted by Smart Design Studio! The four vaults, with their captivating play of light and texture, create a mesmerising atmosphere throughout the home. This project is also featured in our latest hardcover book series, Habitats: City, Coast, and Forest, where we explore remarkable spaces like Stokes 14 that harmonise with their natural surroundings, see here for more: thelocalproject.com.au/product/habitats-city-coast-forest/
This is the third video I have seen on this building and I could cheerfully watch another 33 - it is such a wonderful design and gorgeous contrast of light and materials. It was especially good to here William Smart speaking about the process of design and construction. Thanks so much.
I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the video and the design of the building! It's amazing how light and materials can come together so beautifully. William Smart’s insights into the design and construction process really add depth to the experience. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm-here’s to many more inspiring design videos!
This is an art. So poetic. Probably the place is far from practical. But it doesn’t need to be. The arch, brick works and the perfect placements of glass windows worked all harmoniously. So beautiful
This is beautiful. Simply stunning. I’m not sure how practical or comfortable it would be able to live in the space though (although I would love to find out!)
Thank you for the excellent presentation of the house and the project of the architect William Smart. Very subtle and creative use of four vaults, an unusual feeling of continuous space in the interior and also harmony with nature and infrastructure in the exterior. I really liked the decision to glaze part of the vault - I am sure it was thought out in order to have more daylight in the room and air. Excellent! Greetings from Prague. 🥰
My immediate thought on this design was the world famous Sydney Opera House….. The imagination of designers astounds me…. What a fabulous home….watching from the UK…..👍
Those parabolic vaults with the sloping walls create a disturbing, oppressive cave like effect......all that effort for a space that in the end feels very claustrophobic.....
This is such a snobby thing to say, but Architect's, with an apostrophe. It’s not the end of the world, lmao, but like.. be professional? You've made this typo so many times. Maybe it's different in Australia, man, idk, I'm just some guy.
Whoever did the audio mix on this ruined it. The music is too loud relative to the owner's narration. Also the music is terrible. Also why is there a "shop" button throughout??? Love your stuff but you ruined a great home with bad audio mix.

Beautifully and truly modern. The brickwork is fantastic and I can only assume how much effort this was

Thank you! 🙌 We're glad to hear you enjoyed this video and our interview with William Smart
This was also a great video on the same project.

One of my favorite properties on TH-cam!! This is modern done RIGHT ✅️
Thank you for the support! We're so glad you enjoyed this project 🙌
Wow! What a beautiful space! I can feel the energies flow through. Imagine walking there every day! Bliss!!!
Kudos for bringing in the bricklayer during the design process. I’m sure that everyone involved learned something in the process.
Such a wonderful and surreal space. Very inspiring.

We're glad you like it 🙌
I love the color of the brick
Absolutely stunning. What an inspiring design!
Amazing project. One of the very best I've seen here, and I've loved many of them.
We're glad to hear it! Thanks for the support 🙌
Creative, out-of-the-box thinking. Really cool!
Timeless 🤍
Just wow! That space and that man’s attitude were sublime. Bravo.👏
i've been trying to pinpoint William's demeanor. You can feel the pride, awe, humility and gratitude he exudes. Sublime is a great descriptor 🙏🏼

A stunning work of genius which demonstrates what is possible with vision, hard work and dedication to a higher purpose. Congratulations from Boston.
mmm yes, so good.
This house is breathtakingly beautiful. Its delicate curves and natural yet calm atmosphere are wonderful. The architect did a great job.
So true! Another incredible project from William Smart 👏
INGENIOUS.
congratulations, looks fantastic..futuristic as well but also stunning at that
Oh i know that house, great that you feature it 😊
Your vision is really remarkable. Outstanding indeed! 💯
Thank you 🙌
This is an extraordinary design.

Beautiful sculptural structure. I can't imagine it's efficient whatsoever.
What a stunning home
you've created. Congratulations!❤
Lovely, the vaults are evocotive of the Sidney Opera House, my most adored building of all time.
Very cool!
stunning
Beautiful! But I wouldn’t like to have my boss sleeping upstairs. Nor would I want to live on top of my own studio,.. Too much! 😂 👍
another winner guys. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Truly modern work. The brickwork is so sick. Which company made this stunning bricks?⁉
This building is the art. The internals are chattels by comparison.

cool
Superb!
😍😍😍
gorgeous -- anybody know a good video tour of his indigo slam project?

Can you imagine the cost of the curved bricks ? And even the brick laying itself. OMG it doesn’t look like much but would have cost a fortune.
🙌🏽✨🙌🏽
Not my flavor but it sure is well done 😊
First!
Background music should've been softer and less loud
And why Stokes 14 as a name?
14 Stokes Avenue Alexandria NSW.
Sorry, but no way would this fit me. Too enclosed, dark, and I just don't have "tunnel vision" .. which it is 😂
would be a bit much living ontop of your office.
This circular shape must be very difficult to manage acoustically. Very pretty, but probably not the most practical.
Someone is obsessed with wafer biscuits
Super sexy design but a bit cold and sparse as a “home”
This is such a snobby thing to say, but Architect's, with an apostrophe. It’s not the end of the world, lmao, but like.. be professional? You've made this typo so many times. Maybe it's different in Australia, man, idk, I'm just some guy.
Plot twist: The house is the apostrophe.

Everything you said here was true
I think you’re exaggerating it a tad but yeah :/
So many aspects of this design seem unsafe, did you ever imagine having small pets or children in the space?
