I think Warner Bros is better off making standalone DC movies within their own continuity instead of trying to be a dollar store Marvel. There should be movies like The Batman and Joker where they give their directors lots of creative freedom without the worry of connecting it to a bigger universe because that's just way too hard
I think DC needs to take a huge break from making movies and James Gunn need to put his universe on hold superhero movies lately . Has really been falling off the MCU went from the green light to yellow light and DC red light just broke

@@mgmboy3778 lmao right. Theres reason why DC does better on small screen while Marvel been dominating the big screen over DC. Im sure snyderverse cult people cannot figure out why that is. Lol
The Batman and Joker are safe bets for WB. They're just trying to copy the success of the Dark Knight trilogy by making films that are dark and gritty, grounded, and self contained. There was no risk involved in putting these movies out. I'd rather have a definitive version of the DC cinematic universe that is properly planned out. They need to take the time to actually lay the foundation.
I was hugely interested in and invested in Cavill, Affleck as Superman and Batman and the core DCEU characters in ZSJL...yes, some people didn't like them or those films, but that's fine - it's subjective. The entire problem was self-made by Warner Bros from 2016 - the sheer amount of studio meddling ruined so much.
It's hilarious how Snyder's haters use the term 'Snyderverse' a lot more than his fans, acting as if he was given a free hand in how he managed 'his' movie universe, and how basically one single man somehow ruined an entire movie universe more than the corporate overlords making one bad decision after another.
@@badman_iiixiii Couldn't agree more. Saying Zack destroyed DC or the DCEU or was responsible etc is utterly ridiculous. He wasn't involved since 2017 when the execs reshot about 80% of JL because they are morally corrupt morons. True "Snyderverse" is from 2013 to 2017 MAX. The critical, general, and financial reception for the Snyderverse was a massive disaapointment for WB. They were not successful, that's why he was fired.
Say anything about wokeness, but this time around, wokeness has nothing to do with DC's downfall. The brand has been torn apart from bad executives, bad movie releases (like BvS and Justice League), keeping scumbags working for them (like Ezra and Amber), and many others. Top this weak reputation for DC brand with Hamada's weird decision to put obscure characters on big screen. The final result is a complete disaster. And now James Gunn is forced to pick up the remaning pieces, dealing with things he had minimum control of.
At the end of the day, Hollywood's "wokeness" isn't really that politically motivated, is just a marketing strategy made as cold and calculated as the shared-universe business model by the same producers, or investors really...
I don't think that is a mistake. Billy is mature because he's conflicted with the world that he's living, he's a kid who have been in a lot of foster homes with stricked rules that he has to follow. Whereas as Shazam, he's free to do whatever he wants. He released his inner child in Shazam because he has powers that he's capable of doing basically anything. He felt too perfect and doesn't have to worry about anything as Shazam unlike he did when he was just Billy. He can't purchase beers because he's way too young but he can as Shazam which makes him immature enough for sure but make sense since he doesn't have to worry about anything. At least that's how I see it

It really infuriates me that people blame what was Batman V. Superman on Zack Snyder alone. This film had a lot of studio interference, and wasn't even Zack Snyder's plan. There was going to be a Batman solo film, and other things building up to this. But Warner Bros wanted a "Avengers-level" film too soon without setting up the characters. Even Superman's character arc wasn't finished. He was going to become the Superman we all know and love, but the development and growth of him would take time. Zack Snyder was doing a masterpiece. But studio interference ruined it for him.
Since Snyder's departure in 2017, things have only gotten worse. It's obvious he was never the problem, but people are blatantly ignoring all the facts because of their blatant bias against him. These are the same people that said "the Snyder Cut doesn't exist," but once AT&T forced WB to release it on HBO MAX to a warm reception the narrative shifted to, "he obviously changed the movie after he saw the reaction to Josstice League," even though Snyder himself confirmed he's never even seen that version of the movie. All one has to do is compare Stepphenwolf's overall character design and story arc in Josstice League to the Snyder Cut, and that pretty much sums up everything he had to deal with at WB.

DCEU: the boy who fails copying homework, poorly MCU: the boy who gets away with doing his own homework, before eventually burning out and not caring anymore
And what do these have in common? No universe. I don't get, why the "universe" is so important. MCU have one time good run with it, not denying that, right place, right time, right (and at that time original) product. Now they are collapsing to and instead of get rid of it, they multiply it to multiverse. DCEU with it's overblowed emphasis on universe skipping solo movies and ... well you know. I agree with you, I like SS2021 too, it was fresh and clean, with no tyups. Yes, there were repeating actors, but not to tie plot to some DCEU, just to be themselves in crazy scenario. I think you left out a big point in DC. Superman killing was a red flag to many. When batman came out I asked does batman kill. Yes he does. At that point I knew DC had no place for my time or money. We dont need shock value as consumers. Just a good story.
I’ll never understand this complaint. Either Zod dies or innocent people do. He made that very clear “I’m going to make them SUFFER, Kal.” “Why didn’t he take Zod to space?” How long do you think he could keep that up for?

Zack Snyder DID destroy the DCEU. He started everything on "gritty" Superman and then went into "gritty" BvS. These stories are good as CRITIQUES of Superman, NOT as the FOUNDATION.
Whatever did people expect? His take on the character was so out of left field it practically fell off the edge of the planet. Then again, he WAS only as good as the script he was given.
Forget a disaster. A disaster draws attention. I can't remember most of the movies that DC has made. I remember the movie they cancelled more because it was funny that they said, "you know, we can actually make more money not trying."
I honestly think Superman Legacy is going to end up being the most overhyped movie since Black Panther I don’t get why WB think directors who made a couple Marvel films are the end all be all
Maybe Superhero movies being no longer mainstream is a good thing. They don't have to cater to mainstream audiences and can focus on what the fans like and be more niche.
The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn, is the best DCEU movie ever made. Not a high bar, true, but it was a genuinely great movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was one of the few superhero movies that has recently come out to get a solid positive critical reception as well as making a decent profit in the box office, and that's with a 250 million dollar budget. Again, that was also directed by James Gunn. I don't think people are suffering from "super hero fatigue" I think people are suffering from shitty movie fatigue. As long as James Gunn does what he's been doing and makes good movies then I think DCU can have a chance and superhero movies might even get second wind.
I remember when Ezra Miller was choking out random female fans and everyone was like, "I dunno WB... Maybe you should just scrap this entire Flash movie or put it straight on streaming and cut your losses now." And David Zaslov and James Gunn were all like, "Nah! It'll be fine! This one's actually good! It's worth putting up with Ezra Miller for. You'll see!" And then the movie came out and performed worse than Morbius. Everyone remember that? I remember that.
Unfortunately for them, they couldn't Batgirl the Flash Movie. The Wokite cultist in Hollyweird who think crossdressers are secular saints would NEVER have allowed it.
Except James Gunn never said that. He did (which is baffling indeed 😆) say The Flash was good, but he never said it was worth putting up with Ezra for it. It was too late to scrap it bro if you compare to Batgirl. I don’t think they had a choice from a business perspective…
No I think there really is superhero fatigue. People no longer give serious fucks about the CBM genre. But I still believe people might show up for the A list characters. (superman etc)

The Suicide Squad (2021) is the best DCU movie. Great writing, compelling characters, has the right balance of comedy, drama and action, and great acting. However, it’s basically a stand alone movie that doesn’t contribute to a cinematic universe. Black Adam could have been great if they took more time to develop the other characters such as Dr. Fate, Hawkman, and Atom Smasher. Instead they all were shoved in without explaining their backstories, and *spoilers* they all die anyways. But I really think it could have been a great movie series.
Visually speaking Cavil looked amazing as Superman, I loved the suit design, and he did give it his best despite the godawful writing/direction he had to work with. But tragically every single DCU movie with Superman has sucked ass, and that includes Man Of Steel.
@@xuvial1391 i mean was that cabills fault in the end? The only part i'd say was bad on cavills part was the cgi mustache removal. The story was bad because superman killed one of his big bads(zod) in his first encounter and first appearance as superman. Didnt help that superman was placed into this wierd role of godlike instead of down to earth guy with godlike abilities. Plus his second appearance was to be foil to batman who got fast track development and was made into a criminal branding psycho instead of a mentally obsessive man who wont let go of the past or soemthing closer to batman's character
It's true about Superman not being a lucrative film franchise. MOS made only 40 million and SR broke even. That WBD is launching the DCU with a Superman film is inexplicable. The consensus is that it will lose money. John Campea is predicting it will be a financial flop, yet he wants it released first?! He did a vid last week pushing back at speculation SL could be delayed for several years. That is exactly what should happen. Launch with their strongest film IP - Batman. Let the DCU build up good will and then do a Superman film. And bring in someone other than Gunn to write and direct it. His SL is going to esentially be an ensemble film featuring Lois and Clark. No wonder most believe it will bomb. The strike gives Zaslav the cover to scale back/change Gunn's plans. If Aquaman 2 does poorly watch for big changes to the DCU.
Yes, and no. It would only work if they expect the actor who plays Black Adam to play himself. If they expect him to play the actual character, they would be certain to be disappointed.
Coming to Zack Snyder's defense, Man of Steel was a pretty good movie. Batman V Superman seems like a movie studio execs demanded in order to bridge Man of Steel to Justice League in just one movie. If they turned the story into 2 or 3 movies, it could have been better. And if you've seen Zack Snyder's version of Justice League, you know he's not to blame for what we got in theatres. I don't believe Zack Snyder killed the DCEU. I think the Warner Bros executives did.
@@TheYodelingViking The inciting incident of Superman's life is his dad basically giving up on life to die in a tornado superman could have saved him from, except for the fact that his father also taught him to value hiding his powers over human life.... even his own father's life....
The problem with DCU is mismanagement. I always got an impression that they didnt want to push superman and batman foward. It was as if they were deliberately stagnating them. Man of steel, was a decent take on superman. Sure there were problems, but a proper sequel could have handled ths. Ben afleck too played the character well. As a broken batman( more broken than usual), there was an opportunity for the heroes journey. It was so simple, but they had to try to copy the mcu. DC is dark , make those films as they should be.
the problem is 'dark' doesn't sell to the general audience. Even the Burton films, dark as they were, were campy dark.... not warhammer 40k dark.... This is the problem DC and WB never could wrap their heads around. If you want Marvel money, yeah, you need to lighten it up and sell a more cartoon-y version of the heros than the comic book versions, because that's what sells to families. Snyder's biggest mistake was leaning too hard into the edgiest of possible comic book interpretations just to not be Marvel.... when WB wanted Marvel's box office. This left them stuck between the two, the existing grimdark superman that wasn't selling to the normies, and the obnoxiously loud snyder cultist who wanted it even darker.... and they simply refused to make a choice.
Ben was a good Batman, not a good Bruce. Which wouldn't normally be a problem, if he wasn't walking around as Bruce for the majority of his screentime across movies
@@petriew2018 true, but dark it should be. Obviously going warhammer 40k wouldnt work for dc. They tried that with the animation: justice league apocalypse war. The heroes got mutilated in old anime fashion. Too dark. The balance needs to be there, in a crafty way.
@@temwananinkana3419 they need to keep the characters and themes.... but, honestly, stop listening to the comics fans so much. 'dark', love it or hate it, will not work if you want the same kind of mainstream success Marvel once enjoyed. If the comics fans want big budget movies of their favorite heroes, they kind of need to make peace with the best their going to get is the mainline animate versions, because anything else will not work for the studio's bottom line, which in the end rules everything. Nolan was pushing what you can get away with for mainstream success, but even that wouldn't have sustained an extended franchise. This, honestly, is why i think Snyder was such a massive mistake. I will admit to having enjoyed some Snyder movies, he's not a man without talent, but he is not a man who understands what it takes to truly be 'main stream'. His vision for superman was the complete opposite of what WB needed to actually launch a franchise.
@@petriew2018 his biggest problem was arrogance. He refused to capture the spirit of the characters. In addition to this, i will emphasize, the dcu was mismanaged. They mixed dark tones, serious social commentary and the light heart humour you would expect in a spiderman film. Right ingredients individually but not in the same dish in the propotions they dished out.
The thing which baffles me the most is that they failed to take lessons from their faliures... like you expect them to do right things after justice league's disaster but no they continued to screw themselves over and over again with dumb decisions one after another, and they fired Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck but kept Erza Miller.... I can never understand what goes into their heads
Partly they can't learn because they can't admit personal fault for canceling the Snyderverse DCEU for the Josstice League. The other part is they're listening to shills and liars like this commentor that is pretending that the Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man 2 were better and more profitable than the first 4 films of the DCEU. They weren't. DC management ignored fans and didn't understand their box office was growing. Then they reversed course 3 times at least and lost more money each time. The GunnVerse will also fail too because the fanbase is split even worse than Star Wars and some of tbe same greedy idiots are still in charge.
@@kylehicks9018Yeah for real! I didn't watched any DC movies since they fired Henry and Affleck, It feels like they slapped their fans and spit on them
Honestly I think DC should stick to their animated universe. It is clearly their strong side (Stronger than even Marvel). The DCAMU was absolute perfection and almost every movie paid off. Super underrated.
They just used the characters how they should be; similar to their comic coutnerparts while being down to earth enough to relate to common audiences. DCEU spat in fan's faces right away by making a "darker" theme which just meant that i guess superman just straight murders people in his first battle and batman brands criminals making him more psychotic than heroic making people not see him as a hero, the only character that seems slightly heroic is wonderwoman since cyborg doesnt want to be there, aquaman barely seems to want to be there, and flash is acting more like spiderman than barry allen
9:27 I wouldn't say Snyder ruined DC, I'd rather say DC didn't took the time Snyder needed while shooting Justice League and roped Whedon on it to completely redo the entire movie with no clear backup plan. Snyder was following darker comic book storyline which would've been a revolutionary to see in big screen but the studio chickened out and Snyder's daughter's passing also didn't helped Snyder at that time and I don't blame him on this one.

the crazy thing is that Snyder was the PERFECT director to make Watchmen because he has always said he loves to make Superheroes into real people. In an interview he literally said he wanted to do that to Superman and that is why Superman kills Zod and Batman kills people. He never wanted to bring those characters to the screen, he wanted to change them to fit into his own view of them. Glad he is gone making movies on Netflix that are garbage.
DCEU died with the exit of Snyder. Instead of committing with a creative vision, even if controversial, was the way to get something successful. Maybe not 2 billion $ successful, but still pretty good, profitable, and important: memorable.
Committing to an artist vision that has already proven extremely niche and showing rapidly diminishing returns on projects that cost hundreds of millions to make would not have changed the outcome and f the DCEU in any way, no matter how hard the fanboys cope your statement makes no sense when logic is applied

I don't think Zack Snyder's vision of the DCEU will fare better even if WB didn't intervene. Even the Snyder Cut isn't THAT good. It's an improvement sure, but it's not great. He can make great visuals but not really that good story-wise. Snyder fans will eat all that up and it's all subjective sure, but it's clear that most audience don't enjoy it. MCU is great at making that balance between making fans happy and also create something that general audience would enjoy (at least until end game). Sure there are rumbles of people hating MCU for their writing, but at least it was a success overall because it was done spectacularly in the first phase.
Fun fact about DCEU. Snyder wanted to do solo movies for each hero before, but WB said no and then he asked to at least make BvS and later also JL two parters which was also denied. And from what we can see with Snyder Cut which was 2 movies in length he could have developed the characters and motivations a lot more if BvS got to be a 2 parter let alone have a standalone for each hero. So I do enjoy all 3 movies he made, but with BvS I do feel like we should have gotten a solo Batman before (Wonder Woman got a solo movie after which made it work, but they wouldn't agree to make a Batman Solo movie before the literal Justice League movie?). So yeah I love both MOS and Justice League (Snyder Cut) and do somewhat enjoy BvS UE for what it tried with what it had. It's obvious that WB is just incompetent. Same with Universals Dark Universe. Although Dracula Untold was divisive (some only wanting Dracula to be horror movies or thinking him having humanity instead of just a bloodthirsty monster is a disservice to history even though it stays very true to history where the world saw him as a monster while his country saw him as a hero) there are a lot of fans that wanted to see it continue, but they dropped the planned sequel for a shared universe starting with The Mummy where it was a terrible movie with no fans and had Dr Jekyll as Nick Fury (why? Dracula the centuries old leader who have fought many wars would be a much better pick. This is like making Bruce Banner the leader of Avengers) and because of that it leads up to having the mummy itself be the one joining, but no they make Tom Cruises character the one recruited. Like the idea everyone thought of when hearing a Dark Universe would be like the monsters uniting to either bring the world to its knees or try to live among the humans (depending on the tone they want to go for) and depending on the choice Van Helsing could either be the ultimate hero saving the world or the villain.
The fact snyder is a hack who make dogfood movies and still demanding is the funniest thing .mos flopped made less profit than shazam 1 .thats why wb went bvs route cancelling solo movies

If there's anything the last decade of movies has taught us, it's that making a cinematic universe is actually really hard. Transformers was dead on arrival, Dark Universe never got off the ground, Star Wars was banished to streaming, Sony's Spider-Manless Spiderverse (Venomverse?) is hilarious and not in a good way, MCU is a withered husk of what it used to be, and DCEU died a prolonged and painful death.

Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill both were perfect casting and would've gone down in movie history as two who defined a character like RDJ and Iron Man but WB's Incompetency didn't let that happen.
The castings were pretty great for both. Too bad BvS was so ugly and awful, ruined the whole thing, and killed the excitement for most people immediately

ironically the two DC-based movies they've released that had nothing to do with their 'cinematic universe' (Joker and The Batman), have been miles better both in quality and profitability. Almost as if they don't need the gimmick when they've got decent writing instead....
I'm actually a subscriber of yours but this video is pretty disingenuous. Zack is NOT the main reason for the DCEU's failures. Litterly Wanker Brother's fucked it all up, WB kept pulling the rug, terrible work environment, Marvel was at it's peak, fans were mainly in tune with the MCU's childish humor, and the fans were to brain dead to understand what Zack was trying to do. I don't like most of those movies except for Suicide squad 2016, Birds of prey and Wonder woman. I could at least try to understand his vision, the hate for that one man is extremely out-of-pocket. I do under not enjoying his work but spreading B.S is pretty low. I'm not saying Zack is perfect, I'm sure he made some bad decisions but acknowledging all the factors is important.
I’ve always loved DC more than Marvel and it pains me to see the movies do terrible at the box office and not pulling good ratings. Hopefully James Gunn give these amazing heroes the justice they deserve.
Alright I gotta pause it for a second because Zack Synder did not start the avalanche, it was WB themselves when they panicked over test screenings and hired Josh Wheldon (a marvel writer) to course correct justice league. The fact you mentioned the theatrical version and not what was released on HBO max tell me enough. And I dare you to say both movies are the same.
Man of Steel and BvS were really bad, and the Snyder Cut for JL while VASTLY different is still worse in some ways than Josstice League, mostly because of its inane aspirations at being an epic arthouse film at over 4 hours and being B&W.
I will have to disagree. You can argue some of his story decisions were questionable but at the end of the day you still like the actors chosen for the roles (beside Ezra) Batfleck had the most bad ass fight scene of any Batmen (including Patman), and we got a live action version of Darkseid. he knew how to make a comic book movie with a comic book style. unlike the over saturated marvel (which I’m sure y’all probably praise as peak cinema) Zack managed to cram what took marvel 10 years to build up in 3 movies (with exception of Wonder Woman as he was the co writer) anything beyond man of steel, bvs, and ZS Justice League was WB own demise trying to copy that marvel charm that really started the super hero fatigue but let’s blame Zack for being different cause we can’t blame Kevin Feige
I think the DC Universe a has a lot of potential and go to many different genres like horror with some Batman stories and Swamp Thing and fantasy like with Wonder Woman.

The Marvel universe thrived in live action cinema, and the DC universe thrived in animated televison. I think that's totally fine. I've mostly ignored the DC live action films because i grew up with the DCAU and feel like I've already seen the best on-screen stories of these characters that I'm going to see. The DCAU is so special and was made with such love. I just can't take Ben Affleck seriously when the Bruce Timm/Kevin Conroy version is so ingrained in my mind as the most fully realized on-screen Batman. I don't think it's coincidence thar DC works better in animation - the heroes and villains are a tad bit cartoonier than the Marvel ones, and so it makes sense.
Part of it's the power scale, Marvel has some heavy hitters but DC is a compeltely different ballgame, plus marvel could've had a decent animated universe but quite a few of their heroes/villians aren't as recongnizable like DC is. The only heros i had heard of prior to the marvel films besides spider man were because my father was a DC superman nerd with a little marvel knowledge.
Then again, Batman TAS came out when we had GOOD TV. When the writers actually card about having a relatable realistic plot without preaching Wokeite propaganda.
@@The_Archer-he2ft While there weren't enough recognizable heroes yet in Marvel as a whole, let's not discredit the fact that X Men as a Marvel subgroup had a great animated series with "X Men Evolution." As someone who never read the comics, I fell in love with a lot of the X men characters because of that show. And regardless of the popularity of the DC characters at the time, I also just feel like the DCAU did such a great job of telling well-written super hero / villain stories. All other great shows aside, one could even say that Justice League acted as a "mini cinematic universe" in and of itself. I say this because the show did two things which were very unusual for animated programs at that time: 1. They had a single story run for the duration of the 30 minute block rather than splitting the story into 2 shorter episodes. Plus, they frequently made two-parter 1 hour episodes if more time was needed. 2. Instead of cramming all of the main characters into every single episode by means of B plots, the writers took turns removing certain main characters from certain episodes completely, so that they could give maximum amount of screen time to the particular heroes that were being focused on in that episode. Basically, Justice League cared A LOT about good writing.
I’ve always said DC’s Animated movies run laps around any of the live action stuff. It’s a shame they aren’t nearly as well known in popular culture; Under the Red Hood is one of my favorite DC movies of all time
indeed you can't blame him for movies that are coming out years after his involvement in the brand you have to hold the actual people accountable the people who made those movies
It wasn't Zack Snyder fault! Edit: Since there’s some confusion below I’ll add context. Zack Snyder didn’t want to take on a full fledged superhero franchise. He only wanted to create a standalone story. Then when Marvels created the Avengers, WB saw that and was salavating at the mouth hoping to achieve similar success with their franchise. I mean it’s no coincidence they got Joss Wehdon to direct Justice League (2017) who also directed The Avengers (2012). It’s the studio to blame because they wanted to compete with Marvel and rush projects to do so. Then there’s the ever lasting quest for them to try to push each of their IPs to try to make $1 billion, they lost sight of good storytelling in the process.
It absolutely was. His botched MoS and vision basically left the audiences no alternative when the MCU turned to ass butter. That accelerated the fatigue that we’re seeing now. Had the DC movies not been lazy trash we’d still be in the boom period.

Ezra has not been cast in any more movies, the latest entries of his two major franchises (Flash and Fantastic Beasts) were absolute box office disasters (the people have spoken), every single bad thing he did was reported by the news, and his name is now synonymous with choking women. How many outlets or platforms have you seen censor or banish him, like they have done so openly, NOW, with Russell Brand? "Reporting" on something is not "cancelling" someone. Not giving someone part by itself is not "cancelling" someone (like you said, he's not A-list anyway). Plenty of actors are not getting a lot of parts despite not being "cancelled." The only ones openly condemning him have been, for the most part, people on the right. The woketard left has been more brutal to Gina Carano (do you think SHE is an a-lister?) over some pronouns than they been close to being with Ezra Miller over legit assault. 2:04 that's not actually true. After BvS came suicide squad which made 800mill then Aquaman that made 1billion. It was the tonal shift that started to put everyone off. Your logic for Zack being the one to destroy the superhero genre doesn't make sense when he was fired in 2017, WB had plenty of oppertunities to course correct since then so how does that fall on zack?
BvS (which had batman, superman and wonder women) only made 800 mil. in the same year where Zootopia, jungle book and even secret life of pets earned more. Also it was universally agreed to be a critical failure.

If a studio wants to make a profit on a super hero movie...staying away from Zack Snyder would be a good first step. Now I think about it, just keeping him away from making movies all together is a good idea.
Everybody and their momma now says Snyder had a vision, and it should have played out. Fact is, general MCU loving audiences did not like the dark and gritty MoS or BvS. You can lie and say the movies were bad, or Snyder had a hand in bringing down the genre, but that is BS. The MCU and it's cookie cutter fast food factory movies did it. Movie goers that accepted dumb movies because they were "fun/funny" did it. Not Snyders misunderstood (at the time) vision for DC. I really liked him as Superman and they wasted him so epically. He's Superman, he should've gotten at least two movies, same with Batman. It hurts more because he genuinely cares for the roles he plays. First this, then the Witcher. If anyone's planning a Warhammer 40000 series, they better get that right or he'll murder them all.
The Batman and Joker are safe bets for WB. They're still trying to copy the success of the Dark Knight trilogy. There was no risk in making these movies. Wonder Woman was alright but They butchered it with part 2 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ They just need to leave all a cringey jokes/ terrible awkward acting and terrible video game like CGI out of Hero/Comic Book Movies
A big problem that I think is about to repeat itself with this new DCU is that TWO times in a row they have made "100% stand alone Batman movies that are a Director's creative vision for a solo version of the character"...and tried to launch a shared universe with SUPERMAN as an alternative, and then a "new Batman" as a part of that universe. They had The Dark Knight Trilogy. No amount of respect or deference to Nolan should have kept them from using that to launch the DC Universe. Even if Nolan didn't return, they ignored the "Conclusion" of The Dark Knight Rises, and just used Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as the loose back-story for their new Batman. Even if they re-cast Wayne and Alfred, lean into references and connections back to BB and TDK so that people feel like this new version is tethered to what we've had before. NOW....they let Reeves make his own stand-alone "The Batman" that was well received and financially successful....and are letting THAT stand 100% on its own. Instead of jumping on a successful film and using that to build a universe, they are actively trying to pick a Superman film to launch a universe with and 'force it' into happening. Just like the animated DC universe of the 90s and early 00s...the model has been clear from the start. Launch with DC's most popular and grounded character of Batman(AKA the Iron Man-esque character) and then use his success and popularity to introduce an insanely over-powered character like Superman, play the two of them off one another, and THEN move to the Justice League as their supporting ensemble.
I sat down to take a shit, instead what came out was a fart so loud and force that it lifted me off the seat about an inch and blew my eardrums with a sonic boom.
SOME of them appear to, anyway. Leave the lowly blue collar workers out of it though. I highly doubt they have anything to do with that highly dubious stuff.

Whereas as Shazam, he's free to do whatever he wants. He released his inner child in Shazam because he has powers that he's capable of doing basically anything. There was going to be a Batman solo film, and other things building up to this. But Warner Bros wanted a "Avengers-level" film too soon without setting up the characters. Even Superman's character arc wasn't finished. He was going to become the Superman we all know and love, but the development and growth of him would take time.

They announced the flash movie during S1 of The Flash show and released it after S9 of The Flash show. WB has been hilarious for me.

But I really think it could have been a great movie series.
we know
As soon as they let Henry Cavill make an announcement he was back as Superman, then days later axed him from the role, I was out!

Fine goin too dark may not be the way to go, but at least pick a lane a stick with it.

Detective Comics Comics Universe
When done correctly animation seems to be the perfect medium for superhero stories.

If it's a tall order for the company that built these characters to make any sort of profit, why would a new guy be any better at it?
I say this because the show did two things which were very unusual for animated programs at that time:

Your logic for Zack being the one to destroy the superhero genre doesn't make sense when he was fired in 2017, WB had plenty of oppertunities to course correct since then so how does that fall on zack?
Legacy flops......
these mfs : Snyder ruined the brand 😭😭😭
Snowball effect my guy, I state it right in the video.
BvS (which had batman, superman and wonder women) only made 800 mil. in the same year where Zootopia, jungle book and even secret life of pets earned more. Also it was universally agreed to be a critical failure.

Personally, I'll take a CGI monster final battle over yet another CGI mirror match final battle.
Not enough action maybe, but do not fault the movie for your short attention span.
Hack snyder has iq of 69 so is his fandom .is sad his fandom still think he can make good movies .general audience want good movies snyder made dogfood
Snyder had a vision it was eating dogpoo
Zack Snyder was a victim of studio interference.
Nah bruh, ur coping
@@Juliosoto-pj9pd Snyder’s daughter died and they had another director re-edit it and then change the entire direction Snyder originally was going in. If I’m coping then you’re just willfully ignorant of facts.

How you gonna hate on Zack Snyder when he made the best movies in the DCU 😂

Did The Suicide Squad really tank that bad? I thought it was a pretty solid movie. One of the best dc films, even.
It was released during the height of the delta variant for covid and was available on hbo max day 1. Just an unfortunate release date for the film
solid is pushing but your right it wasn't that bad- tbh the only bad thing about it is that they killed off staro at the end which made zero sense.
The Ayer film was a fucking disaster. Literally a massive embarassment for all involved.
Gunn's was better but still wears the stain of the previous film by keeping it in continuity.
@@RecluseBootsy we don’t even discuss the first one, it didn’t exist.
@@cathedral1375 The movie acts like it did unfortunately.
I'm tired of ppl confusing DCEU with DCU. If you can keep up with MCU timelines, you can understand two different studio names. DCEU is dead, DCU literally hasn't even started.
Marvel has been getting dangerously close to killing their own MCU franchise..... They've been a shadow of their previous awesomeness for quite a while now.... putting out disappointment after meh... After underwelmer for some time.... Often feeling like the formula is the same... The jokes and emotional hooks are more contrived and the inspiration is just kind of D.O.A.
Maybe it's also superhero burnout..... Finally taking hold.
I was thinking recently, I could see a reversal where DCU the up making the better movies...
The question is will it be doomed anyway... From too big a hole to crawl out of and superhero fatigue....
Blaming BVS is silly. The movie and one’s right after did well.
WB mishandling the next 8 movies is what did it obviously. Blaming the 2nd movie that did very well? Gtfoh
No just no

Snyder cut was dogfood and bvs is so cringe .ding ding ding
It won’t be a flop if Gunn hires award winning writers/screenwriters and directors + market the movies ofc.
Gunn already has the audience shown on the Peacemaker series, DC fans, and regular movie goers.
@@ZappaGetSlappa MCU films are failing financially because they suck, care more about politics than the source material
Zack Snyder wasn't responisble for any DC Failures it was Joss Whedon who ruined the JL Film
Isn't "Justice League" the only DC movie Whedon directed? The other movies sucked too; Snyder's vision of the characters doomed them from the get-go.
@@chaoticstarfish3401they weren’t for everyone but tonally were the same. Which was good since those movies should be direct sequels to each other. Zack wasn’t the problem and never was. It was WB.
So Batman vs Superman wasn’t a failure….?
That's like saying "the antibiotic is what gave me the fever"
Snyder's vision was sh*t even from the beginning. Man of Steel was sh*t and Batman vs Superman was sh*t. They brought in Whedon hoping he'll do some damage control but he couldn't. JL ended up being sh*t anyway and JL Snyder cut was slightly less smelly sh*t but sh*t nonetheless.
BvS already ruined some expectations about the future of DC especially in making Batman look like a terrorist who shoots people left and right
Well, at least watching the bad DCEU movies led me back to rewatching the good old animated DC shows and films.
Henry Cavill deserved a MoS trilogy. It pisses me off that WB just disregarded his ideas for MoS 2 as well.
Nice one, Suicide Squad was not a sequel, it was a roboot that was needed and a soft interview for Gunn.
The Batman and Joker are safe bets for WB. They're still trying to copy the success of the Dark Knight trilogy. There was no risk in making these movies. They have no clue how to take the time to build up a cinematic universe, and lay the foundation. They can't do, it's not possible because WB wants to make Avengers level money without putting in the work. Another 10 years down the drain.
EXACTLY! beautiful worded. The problem since day 1 since 2013 is WB was jealous of marvel and wanted to get in the game ASAP. The problem is besides man of steel and they just jumped straight into BVS and JL. They should have been much more patient and at least given us 2 ben Affleck batman solo films 2 superman films and maybe a flash and aqua man and ww film THEN you collaborated them. I will just add the only 1 single thing WB did right was casting. I think each of the 6 main character were all geniusely casted and yes imma be honest I liked Ezra millers performances (I know hes a terrible person) but he is really good. Ben and Henry are the greatest and for the other 3 I don't know who else you would cast
All this effort just to justify the failure of the upcoming DCU by blaming it on Zack Snyder despite him leaving years ago and multiple retcons and reboots happened. Was this fan funded by "the real DC fans"

one of my biggest gripes with shazam 2 was that it was basically a rehash of the first one with way too many leads and redundancy of powers. I was really hoping that the second kid would be the villain: he loves the lime light and attention from saving people so he starts creating his own disasters to save people from. Then he discovers he's able to steal the powers of his brothers/sisters...then it's just super shazam vs shazam. i don't know how to resolve this outside "don't be a dick" but i think that would have been a lot more compelling than oh look, another wizard. bad joke, bad joke, bad joke.
"The Batman" was done completely right.... The same with "The Joker" those are two characters truly saving DC movies.
Just discovered your channel recently, and I've really been enjoying your content. Great work
