After going to sea most of my life.... here’s a little terminology for you..... upper deck, lower deck ( no floors) the walls are called bulkheads, the ceilings are overheads, the stairs are ladders, you got the galley right, the toilet/rest room is called the head, fore and aft is correct referring to the bow and stern respective, and the left side is the port side and the right side is the starboard side, the place where they steer the boat is called the bridge or the wheelhouse depending on size of the vessel and the engine spaces are called the engine room (my home ) and below the bottom deck of the engine space are the bilges. We go out on a boat like that from a bar just off soi 7 glad to know they are still going ,water looked calm sometimes it can get choppy just past koh larn ,years ago they were many more people interested in night fishing too but they went really far out to sea.

What a great way to spend a day, nice large boat too so you were not under each others feet. I love going fishing but I must admit, the catching of fish is sometimes very secondary to getting away from the land for a while. Nice to see that the ladies enjoyed the trip too. Been fishing in the waters off samui, it was fun, caught so many small fish, but nothing that i would considered a keeper......the boat owner kept everything to take home......even though we didn’t catch anything to talk about it was a lot of fun.........your video brought back fun memories.....another great video.....as always....thanks Lucas!
The only thing i enjoy about pattaya beach is drinking a beer at sunset. Hopefully one day the local authorities will learn you need clean water for a popular beach resort.
Great video. How about doing something on Koh Larn. I spent a few days there Xmas before last. It was good, but too many tourists/motorbikes. Now would be a great opportunity to see what the beaches and towns are like with just the local people left. Thanks again.

looking good! Looks almost like the same boat we hire when we go out fishing. I see that the skyline/coast is still visible...so u guys stayed in quite a bit. A lot of the bigger fish are way out deep, usually about a 2 hour boat ride out to see based on the speed of those type of boats. So some of the boats u can hire will have the professional casters on the back end of the boat which makes catch things like barracuda much better. Nice day when u r able to be out on the seas!
Now that looked like a fun time. ! I did go fishing the last time I was in Pattaya. I did keep and eat my catch and shared some with an elderly local that was not having much luck that day and I know he was catching them for his dinner. I saved a lot of Baht having a rental with a kitchen! There are a few species that are illegal to catch. So I would suggest to everyone -do your research.
Hired a speedboat years ago over to Koh Larn and stopped for a bit of fishing, great craic, although, i caught a puffer fish(i think thats its name(a wee fat one)) but the boat owner wudnt let me touch it, he said it was poisonous, anyway got a photo of me holding the line with it, and off we went to Larn

Well Lucas... even though it may not be known for seafood there is a pretty well known fresh seafood market close by that’s is pretty big... all fresh daily catch kind of seafood and they will cook it up for you to eat right there . There’s plenty of parking and it’s usually busy... Vee knows.. My wife and I went to a meet up at the ASSIENDA and hit the seafood market twice .... once for the day and then in the way home.. so there you have it...my 2 cents worth.... nice fishing trip

Living in Minnesota, I have been on many lakes. Love just being out on the water even if don't have many bites on the end of my fishing line. Same as when I golf. I find more enjoyment being out on the course, rather than with my golf score, although I will use a Mulligan every now and then. ;) As always, you create beautiful videos and I thank you for them.
Im interested in how much it was for the day on that boat from pattaya? They have similar boats that leave from Bang Saray just up the road from the wharfes for day fishing trips.
We go out in a slightly smaller boat usually around 6 to 8 people around 4000 baht about 5 to 600 each, old guy sits opposite hilton hotel everyone knows him think he has 2 or 3 boats top deck for sunbathing if you just want the day out .
A friend of mine had a boat where he offered different types of trips including fishing trips, he said that fishing trips are not worth paying for there are almost no fish of reasonable size out there.

can you speak to why you chose to live in Pattaya over other cities in Thailand like Bangkok or Hua Hin? We are planning to retire to Thailand in September and finding it hard which city to live. We have visited each of the listed cities and live them all, which is why it is so hard. thanks for any feedback.

I don't care for Bangkok and Hua Hin is nice but expensive in my opinion. They have way over built housing in the Pattaya area making it very affordable. Plus closer proximity to the airport in Bangkok. But you have to determine where you will be the happiest. 👍

Reminds me of my navy days. Navy ship would be a mile or two out, and small boat would bring us into Pattaya..1980..
Always wondered about that because I believe Bali Hai is too shallow for a large naval vessel.
Same style liberty boats when the ship I was on was at anchor a few kms off Patong Beach, Phuket (HMAS Melbourne).

Is it mostly dropping the line and small rod fishing and do the boats come with hire of the rods etc. or do you bring your own and bait.
They had rods too, but the handline is just more efficient, bring your own bait. Can bring your own gear as well.

Typical price you will be quoted is 7500, you can always negotiate and make a better deal. Depends on size of boat. This is a 15 person boat.
