You could buy three MGZS's for the same price as one of these and have all the bells and whistles as standard. No contest! Great review as ever. Thanks once more.
What a lovely comment, thank you. So pleased that you enjoy them. And thank you for taking the time to watch them and send such a charming note. I really appreciate it.
Excellent video. I had two Q5 and now I am driving a GV60 performance and I won’t change my car for the Audi SQ8. I have a lot more for the money I spent.
Great review…fair and reasonable. Feels like Audi are just resting on their laurels…stick the rings on it and people will buy it because it’s an Audi. They need to up their game otherwise they’ll be consigned to snobbery obscurity.
All prestige cars from the German trio seem to have got ridiculously expensive recently, especially the electric models. The only way to “use” one is to go for a leasing package (heavily subsidised) and let the finance company (manufacturer) take the loss at the end of the contract. The way the market is developing with such Chinese influence, I fear that in a few years time the likes of Audi will become small niche manufacturers again!
I'm currently shopping for a new car and will probably buy either a Q4 e-tron or a Q6 e-tron. I think the new Q6 is actually the biggest competition for the Q8. It's not much smaller (plenty big enough for family use), it improves on several things mentioned in this video (more modern interior, better range...) and it runs on their brand new platform. They had several Q8s in the showroom I visited (which makes me think they are trying to get rid of them), including one with the wing mirror cameras and I agree that they are worse than mirrors. I would be interested to see your opinion of the Q6 e-tron.
97K for base of this, phewwwww what are you actually buying for this. Are they wanting this to fail deliberately ? all those options I get on my MG4 trophy for 35K and faster !!
And how much does a USB socket cost? 30p and some plastic moulded cup holders for the rear arm rest??? On a £100 grand car!!!! Great honest review let’s hope Audi take note?
Certainly, as a value proposition the SQ8 misses the mark...badly. However the styling changes of the S-model and especially the 22-inch wheel upgrade with the "Black" package make for a much better looking Audi, to my eye. The gentle "refresh" isn't really much more than a warming up the leftovers and I think the significant price jump is dubious, perhaps, just following the market trends. The EV market is moving so fast perhaps the mid-cycle refreshes (and even the new model cycles) need to be shortened a bit across the board. Maybe more significant yearly changes are the future.
Gosh my Ev Niro level 4 gets u.s.b's in the back , cup holders , and even heated seats in the back and in the front full electric seats all so heated and ventilated seats
Sad. It’s as if they left the accountants in charge. When you are paying that much, you expect something special. The first E-Tron was in its time but this isn’t, compared to a Polestar 3. Oh well!
I think you are right, but why bother doing this half-heartedly? These criticisms were there with the original e-tron and it seems they haven’t fixed them. So why bother at all? This facelift would still have cost them millions to do, so why bother do it better?
Thank you for reinforcing my personal opinion. Nice car but way too expensive and I’m tired of the long shopping list of option extras that Audi seem to have stuck with. Time to move on.
I usually love the reviews in this channel, but this was annoying and I don't even have an Audi. 90% of the complaints were because the car tested was lacking options. Double pain glass, rear cup holder and USB etc etc. I didn't understand the issue with needing to be in sport mode to be quick, same as many other cars. Fair point regarding the price, but they're not the only one who's gone crazy with the pricing.
First of all, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. You raise a fair point, but let me try to be clear where my frustration came from. The Audi is a lovely car. Make no mistake. It’s comfortable, well built and looks very nice. However, it feels like the same car Audi gave us a few years ago with the original etron. Where’s the progress? Yes, it’s a facelift, not an entirely new model, but the battery is woefully inefficient, and there is no focus on sustainability, or trying to advance things. And that’s disappointing for a brand like Audi. And then it’s so expensive for what they offer. And you are correct, it isn’t just Audi, but I’m disappointed that Audi, a brand that used to be so progressive, just seems to be following the herd. I hope that goes some way to explaining why I’m so disappointed with this car.
So I’ve got a Lexus RZ 450e and it has rear heated seats, electrically operated operated steering wheel and USB’s in the back also and it’s faster too!
It seems that audi are not interested in making electric cars that that are remotely efficient as proven by the E Tron range. Shockingly poor range on this car for such a huge battery, and the price is ridiculous too. I think they will struggle to sell any numbers in the uk of this model. Even if you target owning a used one in a couple of years time when the bulk of the horrendous depreciation has taken place, it still is a poor proposition as the efficiency will still be terrible, and the new car warranty will have expired, luckily the battery goes on to 8 years.
What an earth has happened to Audi? The A line and Q lines are now just meh, there doesn’t seem to be any innovation anymore, apart from the price inflation!
My point exactly. I love Audi and what they have achieved, but this is just feels like an arrogantly lazy product. A tweak here and there and stick a big price tag on it and watch people buy it because it’s an Audi. Sorry, it’s not enough. And what the competition are doing is so far in advance of this car that people will just move away from the brand. Buyers want more than this, and they won’t be fooled by complacency. They’ll vote with their feet.
Great review… same same old Audi… pointless and completely over priced.. every time I look to buy a new car, I never consider Audi (and BMW) and never will…
So explain something to the rest of us ignorant fools who own electric cars - 23 million of us and counting, why you feel they have failed. You’re sounding off on a review of an EV without the experience of ownership. I couldn’t afford this £97,000 example either, but I do own one and it’s saving me a lot of money at the pump.

First. Good review of a shocking value product!
Thanks! 👍
Best UK car reviews. Great to watch - I even watch them for cars I have no interest in!
What a lovely comment, thank you. So pleased that you enjoy them. And thank you for taking the time to watch them and send such a charming note. I really appreciate it.
It even kinder than it appears. I drive a q8 etron.....@@AutoEV
Oops.....😳😂😉
Excellent video. I had two Q5 and now I am driving a GV60 performance and I won’t change my car for the Audi SQ8. I have a lot more for the money I spent.
Genesis 🎉 ❤ or Polestar (3) ❤️🔥 really really amazing cars...

Great, honest review. Loved the introduction. For you it was Genesis, for me it was Manic Street Preachers.

Savage but true

I have to agree. It really bothered me with this car. Small things, admittedly, but important to anyone who uses it as a family car.
I would prefer the Polestar 3 against the SQ8 e-tron ❤️🔥 💙
You need to be watching the channel on Monday 10th June then.......

Exactly. Such poor value for money.
If you see someone driving this, think MUG.

I think they have put their efforts into the Q6 instead and this Q8 is really just a mid cycle refresh.
I think you are right, but why bother doing this half-heartedly? These criticisms were there with the original e-tron and it seems they haven’t fixed them. So why bother at all? This facelift would still have cost them millions to do, so why bother do it better?

Disappointing indeed! Thanks for the frankness.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Looks like a car that would be expensive at £60k. Hope no one buys one...

Electric cars failed. Next idea is needed.
No, they didn’t. They provide us with an alternative. And we have a choice. They may not be the answer, but they are a help.
That’s not what the stats say!
We’ve had two electric cars for the past ten years, they are great id never buy another ice car
