@@randomreviews4278 yeah hopefully they can make it at some point. The original film was a classic but it's not particularly scary that's mostly due to the way it was shot that's not really a knock against the film it's just more product of its time however I could see that being done really creepily if it's filmed well. I could see maybe Gilmore Del Toro directing it since he's done several Fishman movies now.
A movie that I absolutely love but could be awesome with a modern remake is “The Last Starfighter”. The visual effects are very dated but it’s such a great movie. I keep hearing about a possible sequel but a remake would be better after all these years I think.
What I think would be amazing (not really a remake) but if they made a live action Coraline, and make it into more of a horror movie. The original animated one is already pretty creepy, and I just feel like it could get a lot more elevated in live action. Still love the animated one but it’s a movie I think would be great to convert to live action!
I agree, I've been hoping for a remake of The People Under the Stairs for so long. Like you said, just the concept alone would make for a great remake, but the social commentary would be perfect for a film like Us or Candyman. I hope someone picks it up.
Heat is such a masterpiece, well, all of the films you mentioned are fantastic, but I especially loved heat. I only started watching the Indiana Jones films like 5 years ago lol. My brother tried to get me to watch them for years, but the more hyped up something is, the less compelled I feel to watch it. But ended up loving those films as well.
I'm also of the opinion that there are movies that could have awesome remakes, it's that Hollywood chooses the ones that are already successful/beloved and unnecessary to remake. This one's a really old one, but I would LOVE a remake Freaks (a 1932 horror film). It's about a group of circus performers who are taken advantage of and get revenge on those who betrayed them. It was supposedly super graphic for its time but had almost 1/3rd of its runtime cut out and lost forever. This is a story that I think deserves a hard R remake, still set in the early 1900s and with actors that would be sideshow performers back then. That would be awesome
Great list! I agree with all of your picks, so many great ideas. Your idea of Jordan Peel remaking People Under the Stairs is an awesome one. A couple of movies I'd like to see redone. Terror Train, such a great setting for a slasher, but the original is so boring. And an unknown 70s film, Trapped AKA Doberman Patrol with James Brolin. He becomes trapped in a closed mall with angry dobermen trying to kill him. That's such a cool concept, but the movie did nothing with it. I honestly would like to see what they would do with a House remake too. Thanks Cody.
There's a few stories, particularly Stephen King ones, that could benefit greatly from a modern day remake. Christine is the first one that comes to mind, which would work well now with everyone starting to switch to electric cars. Also with dogs being treated more as "children" nowadays by some pet owners, a remake of Cujo would also be great. Storm of the Century would also be a great remake, even if it was just a miniseries on Netflix or HBO Max.
This is a really cool idea. I can think of a couple films that would make my list, Cyborg with van Damme would be cool, the entire sequel trilogy for SW has sooo much more potential, also Freddy vs. Jason deserves another chance, and finally I would love to see a fast n furious remake just to get it back to street racing films again. Wouldn't mind seeing Back the future remade. Great video Cody. This video was awesome, fun discussion.✌
Totally agree about Cyborg. That's a pretty good movie considering how it was just slapped together. If done with some more time and a little more money, it could be awesome.
Please nobody take this in a morbid way but my friend and I have often said when, as it happens, Chris Lloyd and Michael J Fox pass away, they’ll have a great headstone quote: “Where we’re going we don’t need roads. Love Back to the Future. Love your videos!
Do more of these please! This video and every single movie on the list is on point! There are so many more that you could include. I would love to see this video spark a remake of one of these!
This is crazy, last night I was skipping through channels on TV and sure enough the movie Chopping Mall was on and I had never heard of this movie and I’m watching this countdown and sure enough you’ve included on this list, I’ll be dammed 😂
I forgot about In Time. That was an awesome concept and I enjoyed the film. I would watch a remake, for sure. Back to the Future is one of my absolute favorite films of all time. It never gets old. Classic. Trick Or Treat is one of my favorite films, as well. I had it recorded on VHS and my older brother and I watched it everyday for like a year. Awesome list, as always!! Any and all of these films could have a great remake.
I would like to see Gremlins remade as a R-rated straight up horror movie. Not taking anything from the classic original and the very fun meta Gremlins 2.
I’m sorry but I can’t imagine a world where back to the future needs a remake. It is simply a perfect movie with a perfect cast. Please, never ever touch that movie!
I thought you’d give Halloween 3 a mention. That movie would be perfect for a update. Although I’m not one for remakes maybe a modern retelling would give it the credit it deserves
1.phantasm 2.near dark 3.prince of darkness 4.the shocker 5.people under the stairs(have to disagree movie is epic cult classic) 6.Videodrome 7.scanners 8.stigmata 9.escape from new york( would be hard to find new snake) 10.ginger snaps
YES! My first choice is your number 1. It needs a remake so bad and I would love to know what someone would do with it. I could also get behind the Back to the Future remake IF it was cast right and had the right person doing it for all the reasons you named. It would be a fun little journey.
I really appreciate the fact that you put a lot of thought into this. Easy to mail this in and pick iconic easy films but you dove deep. This is a major reason why you’re the only channel I support financially via Patreon. Keep crushing it.
Really good picks man another underrated Wes Craven film i'd love to see them remake is Cursed. Its a whodunnit slasher were the killer is a werewolf but its so easy to figure out who the werewolf was very early on in the movie so it loses that awesome mystery factor of guessing who the killer is that makes Scream so awesome. Christina Ricci is our final girl and theres also an awesome sub plot of her brother played by Jesse Eisenberg slowly turning into a werewolf himself. I think if they remade it leaning into more of the whodunnit aspect it would be a much better film. I also think the practical effects they did on the werewolf were pretty cool too.
@@itsharryhagen I never said the movie was good. I only thought about it cause Cody's number 1 pick was a underrated Wes Craven movie. Craven also does the 2 killer twist in this movie too but its nowhere near as clever as it was executed in Scream. Theres some cool ideas in the film which is why i think it would benefit from a remake. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure movie for me cause i really like the cast and the werewolf giving the middle finger scene cracks me up everytime.
Very good list. I think Chopping Mall could definitely be remade better nowadays. My list includes some I really like already but would love to see remade or some movies that just were not good and I think should be remade 1. Shutter - A Thai horror remake already. The Thai version is pretty good but U.S. version was not very good at all. Interesting plot that could be done again 2. Avatar the Last Airbender - as a huge fan of the show, it being my childhood, the live action we got was atrocious! 3. The Butterfly Effect - I actually like this movie but I do think it could be done better 4. Premonition- interesting concept just not pulled off that well (ok movie 🤷🏽♀️) 5. Christine - love the original and think it’s a very good movie, but definitely could be remade for modern times
I don't think they should remake back to the future but I would prefer a continuation where Marty's kids go back to the 1980s so we kind of get something similar to the original which was Nostalgia for the 1950s but the modern one would be nostalgic for the 1980s. It'd be a nice play on the formula.
@@lochofmceo either way but we essentially saw the 80s as just life when the original film come out we didn't see it Through The Eyes of a modern-day kid. However the nineties could potentially work.
I severely hope Back To The Future never gets remade Actually…. I can kinda see They Live getting a remake. I’ll never ask or beg for it but it has potential…..that hurt to say low key lol
Recent subscriber, loving your videos pal 👌 this was a sick concept man. I totally agree with this list especially with In Time and Jumper. There's some solid groundwork laid out for a successor 😎 I personally would love to see remakes of The Running Man and The Towering Inferno 👍
The Running Man would be cool for a remake, gives u a Hunger Games Vibe. Towering Inferno needs a remake, I love the original 1974 movie but it was ahead of it's time, it's time for a remake now that CGI is a Thing, A Remake of The Postman (1997) would be cool, I'm probably the only person who loves it and i've read the book, i'd love to see either Tom Hanks or Kyle MacLachlan play The Postman others are: Sixteen Candles, Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (one of my favourite stories), The Burning, The English Patient and Spawn
I really want to see a moody, big budget, practical effects heavy 'nightmare on elm street' reboot. Make it at least a couple of hours too. Gotta disagree with you on 'the people under the stairs', though. You could reboot it, but I love the original.
If even in the process of making a proposal you gotta say "it'll never be as good as the original",as stated in the Back to the Future talk, I say Don't do it. It's ok to make movies inspired in part by Back to the Future that are not called Back to the Future.
Out of all the mentioned movies in this list. By far the one I would absolutely love a good solid modern remake for is They Live. As much as I like the original it does suffer from iffy effects and some loose writing. If they tightened up and focused the script with a likeable cast of actors it could seriously be an amazing remake.
Krull and Highlander are at the top of my list of movies that should be remade. And I think the concept of Manos: the Hands of Fate has some potential, too.
@@captcrais101 Sorry! Highlander is an excellent idea, but the execution is a little lacking. It needs at least two more script revisions, modern CGI (mainly for the final Quickening) and a cast that doesn't have the Scottish guy as the Egyptian-pretending-to-be-Spanish and the French guy as the Scot.
Man, don't really agree with this list at all. Especially They Live and Back to The Future. One movie I would like to see a remake of is Nightbreed. That movie got so screwed by executives that even the 'alternate cuts' didn't really do it justice.
Love the idea of "Back to the Future" remake. Maybe if it were named something else and had elements of the original. Kinda inspired by the film, but twists it around.
That Childs Play 3 shirt is awesome, I kind of thought that you would have Christine on the list, I know you've mentioned that in the past, good list totally agree with your number 1.
honestly, i expected to hate your list, but I agree with it for sure!!! Trick or Treat is one of my all time faves, but i would love a modern retelling
The Deadly Spawn: - Keep the creature design though, that's awesome. Maniac cop: Superstition A.K.A The Witch: Killer Klowns from Outer space: Alligator: Pumpkinhead: - Again, keep the creature design Dark Night of the scarecrow: - this would be awesome with some good gore effects Demons: The Burning: - Cropsy rules Puppet Master: Troll: Silver Bullet: The Blob: Just a few I'd like to see given a modern remake.
That was an amazing video cody, you never disappoint us ever. Time cop and people under the stairs are 2 movies that I would love to see remade. Here are a couple of my own. Commando 48hrs The neverending story Elektra The serpent and the rainbow Jacobs ladder? The watcher
One thing probably keeping The Island from being remade is that it got a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against it for copying the plot of a 1979 movie called Parts: The Clonus Horror.
Event Horizon needs a Prequel, I'd love to see what happened to The Original Crew onboard The Event Horizon and see the Horrors of what happened to them when The Ship disappeared for 7 Years
TimeCop should be helmed by the Spierig brothers. They did a fantastic job with the concept of time travel and a group of "Time Cops" with their "Temporal Agents" in the film "Predestination".
1. Deadly friend: I think this is one of those like you said Cody where the idea was awesome but the execution wasn’t. It was supposed to be a sci-fi thriller about this guy who loses his love to an accident and brings her back with this chip from his robot and she turns evil and starts killing people. I think if they went with the original idea of craven and made it a suspense thriller instead of a cheesy horror movie it would be a classic, it deserves a remake. 2. First blood: I think getting Adam driver, a former marine, to play Rambo and Kurt Russell to play the cop and do it exactly like the book which Rambo actually kills the cops and trautman has to shoot him at the end would be bad ass. 3. Commando: get the rock to play John matrix and Dave Bautista as Bennett, take the cheese and ridiculous over the top action scenes and makes them more realistic would be badass in todays time. 4. The people under the stairs: I think this was a good idea done so ridiculous it became a classic, if they did this movie like more serious and make it more like don’t breathe it would be absolutely intense. 5. Christine: I think a more modern take on this story in todays time frame would make this movie even better than what it already was. 6. The birds: Alfred Hitchcock classic horror movie done today with today’s technology with more gore and special effects this would be a very great apocalypse movie 7. Hard times: Charles Bronson’s classic street fighting movie. Give me van Damme to play Chaney, Matthew mcconaughey to play street, Jack black to play poe, Steve Austin to play skinhead, Tom hardy to play chick, and Mickey rourke to play street, I think this done just like in the 30s time frame as the original made today would be the best fighting movie ever made. 8. Halloween 3: season of the witch: in my opinion the second best Halloween movie, I really think the idea of this was absolutely genius, if done today with Jason Blum and make the suspense and intensity of the original good, also changing a few things like adding the children screaming in the ending credits, go more into Cochran’s past on what he’s part of and why children are the reason would be a killer horror thriller. Just change the name to just “season of the witch” or “season of the witch: a Halloween story” 9. Jaws: give me Lawrence fishburne as Quint, mark ruffalo as hooper, and Hugh jackman as Brody, keep the same suspenseful shots but don’t show nothing but the fin until the third act and keep it closer to the book we have the summer movie of the year. 10. Bachelor party: Tom hanks first starring role film is a cult classic but I think made today, with modern day film making and different lifestyles from back then on how people party today would make this movie the next hangover film.
The Last Starfighter should be remade. Such an underrated movie. . But i feel a remake would lose the charm of the original. But due to copyright ownership, a remake probably won't happen.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (I think thats how you spell it). It's a classic 50's monster movie that is pretty outdated that I think can be remade with some awesome CGI monster effects, better characters, and a modern design would be pretty cool.
I would love someone to take the concept of Thirteen Ghost and do something with it. Whether it’s a new movie or even a mini series going through the lives of the ghosts, I think it would be amazing

@@bigkmoviesandgames it does maybe this is true idk it's been almost 3 years since it was mentioned.
@@randomreviews4278 I have never heard of The Movie Chopping Mall
A movie that I absolutely love but could be awesome with a modern remake is “The Last Starfighter”. The visual effects are very dated but it’s such a great movie. I keep hearing about a possible sequel but a remake would be better after all these years I think.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The Burning could benefit greatly from a remake
YES!
Definitely, I've never enjoyed the original.
You literally took the words right out of my mouth As soon as I saw People under the stairs I thought of Jordan Peele! Love your content Cody!!
Thank you!
What I think would be amazing (not really a remake) but if they made a live action Coraline, and make it into more of a horror movie. The original animated one is already pretty creepy, and I just feel like it could get a lot more elevated in live action. Still love the animated one but it’s a movie I think would be great to convert to live action!
First one that springs to my mind is 'They live' Starts great and a great idea... But kind of loses it's way
I agree, I've been hoping for a remake of The People Under the Stairs for so long. Like you said, just the concept alone would make for a great remake, but the social commentary would be perfect for a film like Us or Candyman. I hope someone picks it up.
it would be wonderful if Cody reviewed
Heat(1995)
The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Se7en
The Thing(1982)
The Indiana Jones trilogy
That Eastwood trilogy would be a joy to watch
@@adamhoward5404 exactly
Heat is such a masterpiece, well, all of the films you mentioned are fantastic, but I especially loved heat. I only started watching the Indiana Jones films like 5 years ago lol. My brother tried to get me to watch them for years, but the more hyped up something is, the less compelled I feel to watch it. But ended up loving those films as well.
@@KB-bh9hp Heat(1995) is in my Top 5 favorite movies of all time
Indiana Jones Trilogy 😂😂 I love that you don't even consider the 4th one. It was a mess to be honest
I think the closest we'll get is that Season of American Horror Story (Freak show)
@@timlutzen6019 Yeah, probably. That season was very heavily inspired by Freaks though (it’s been a bit since I watched it but I remember liking it)
A movie I always thought could use a modern remake was “Devils advocate”..great story but the effects didn’t hold up over time
I think that movie was done so well that it doesnt need a remake. Imo Keanu's best acting performance
"It happened....in Monterey.....a long time ago....."
Good video Cody! Dune is a prime example of remaking a movie that wasn’t that great, and thus did it better
waterworld did not break even (175,000,000) untill the bluray came out which surged this was fifteen years later after filming
So glad to see someone else say the SW sequels....I singled it to Ruin Johnson's "The Last Jedi"....but yeah, all 3 need to be remade
Please nobody take this in a morbid way but my friend and I have often said when, as it happens, Chris Lloyd and Michael J Fox pass away, they’ll have a great headstone quote:
“Where we’re going we don’t need roads.
Love Back to the Future. Love your videos!
Do more of these please! This video and every single movie on the list is on point! There are so many more that you could include. I would love to see this video spark a remake of one of these!
R.I.P Wes Craven
I saw The Burning (1981) for the first time today didn't care for it.I think they could do a really good remake on this movie.
This is crazy, last night I was skipping through channels on TV and sure enough the movie Chopping Mall was on and I had never heard of this movie and I’m watching this countdown and sure enough you’ve included on this list, I’ll be dammed 😂
The Blob and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes are a couple I would love to see a remake of especially with today's advanced technology.
They should remake deja vu. It can just be the exact film again
I'm wearing a the people under the stairs shirt right now 🤣
I forgot about In Time.
Jumper definitely needs to come back to the big screen
I’m sorry but I can’t imagine a world where back to the future needs a remake. It is simply a perfect movie with a perfect cast. Please, never ever touch that movie!
1. Silver Bullet
2. Scanners
3. Phantasm
4. Creature From The Black Lagoon
5. They Live
No leave They Live alone.
This list is great, but some movies should never be resurrected, no matter what...
I'm definitely a no on a remake or sequel to BTTF. Too many reasons to name here, but Timecop sequel has potential, not a remake.
I thought you’d give Halloween 3 a mention. That movie would be perfect for a update. Although I’m not one for remakes maybe a modern retelling would give it the credit it deserves
I'd rather get a sequel to Halloween 3
@@a.j.bandido8739 yeah like dealing with the aftermath of part 3 I think Cochran was successful at that sacrifice
nobody should think about remaking Back to the Future at all, nothing can beat that movie
even They Live, what a great movie from JC
1.phantasm
2.near dark
3.prince of darkness
4.the shocker
5.people under the stairs(have to disagree movie is epic cult classic)
6.Videodrome
7.scanners
8.stigmata
9.escape from new york( would be hard to find new snake)
10.ginger snaps
Honestly a great list, even if Chopping Mall is one of my favorite films of all time, but I would love to see a remake of it.
We need a remake of Shocker. So much potential and now the effects could be done properly.
I Agree.
YES! My first choice is your number 1. It needs a remake so bad and I would love to know what someone would do with it. I could also get behind the Back to the Future remake IF it was cast right and had the right person doing it for all the reasons you named. It would be a fun little journey.
Hope they remake the idea of making new original movies.
I really appreciate the fact that you put a lot of thought into this. Easy to mail this in and pick iconic easy films but you dove deep. This is a major reason why you’re the only channel I support financially via Patreon. Keep crushing it.
Back to the Future should never be remade, it’s timeless.
My list includes some I really like already but would love to see remade or some movies that just were not good and I think should be remade
1. Shutter - A Thai horror remake already. The Thai version is pretty good but U.S. version was not very good at all. Interesting plot that could be done again
2. Avatar the Last Airbender - as a huge fan of the show, it being my childhood, the live action we got was atrocious!
3. The Butterfly Effect - I actually like this movie but I do think it could be done better
4. Premonition- interesting concept just not pulled off that well (ok movie 🤷🏽♀️)
5. Christine - love the original and think it’s a very good movie, but definitely could be remade for modern times
I would like to see Dreamscape (1983 I think) remade. I love the Dennis Quaid version, but it could be so cool to see an update
It was 1984 😂
Cody you should do a video on Dreamscape. It is one of my favorite 80s movies. Dennis Quaid is 😎
I don't think they should remake back to the future but I would prefer a continuation where Marty's kids go back to the 1980s so we kind of get something similar to the original which was Nostalgia for the 1950s but the modern one would be nostalgic for the 1980s. It'd be a nice play on the formula.
90’s because we saw the 80’s in the OG
@@lochofmceo either way but we essentially saw the 80s as just life when the original film come out we didn't see it Through The Eyes of a modern-day kid. However the nineties could potentially work.
@@BishopWalters12 that's just crazy talk.
Time cop would be a awesome movie to have redone in today's time. As long as they chose the right cast as well.
I severely hope Back To The Future never gets remade
Actually…. I can kinda see They Live getting a remake. I’ll never ask or beg for it but it has potential…..that hurt to say low key lol
Recent subscriber, loving your videos pal 👌 this was a sick concept man. I totally agree with this list especially with In Time and Jumper. There's some solid groundwork laid out for a successor 😎
I personally would love to see remakes of The Running Man and The Towering Inferno 👍
If you can't outdo the original you shouldn't remake it. That disqualifies Back to the Future.
Exactly
Never understood the water world hate
6:28 this is blasphemy! never never never!!!!!!!
Damn....I am impressed....you have some very good arguments! I really thought you crazy on Back to the Future till I heard you out.
Krull and Highlander are at the top of my list of movies that should be remade. And I think the concept of Manos: the Hands of Fate has some potential, too.
NO! Leave Highlander alone!! None of the sequels were good. A remake would be terrible. Critical Drinker talks about why a remake would be bad.
Great idea for a video, need more like these
Man, don't really agree with this list at all.
Is there anyway to re release these videos but without the distracting music in the background?
Hey Cody, would you ever make a video on your top 10 favorite horror prequels or 10 top horror movies that need a prequel?
honestly, i expected to hate your list, but I agree with it for sure!!! Trick or Treat is one of my all time faves, but i would love a modern retelling
The Deadly Spawn: - Keep the creature design though, that's awesome.
Maniac cop:
Superstition A.K.A The Witch:
Killer Klowns from Outer space:
Alligator:
Pumpkinhead: - Again, keep the creature design
Dark Night of the scarecrow: - this would be awesome with some good gore effects
Demons:
The Burning: - Cropsy rules
Puppet Master:
Troll:
Silver Bullet:
The Blob:
Just a few I'd like to see given a modern remake.
i would love a remake of Brainscan. the vr game concept was so ahead of its time and i think it could only be made better with a more modern take.
I would like to see a remake of one my favorite horror movies from the 70's, The Car. Nuff said!
Liked this movie but not the ending
I hope you didn't wast 90mn and watch The Car 2, which is one big pile of Shit! The original is a classic
Bro can you review ‘Money Heist’ on Netflix. 5 seasons, 1 and 2 are amazing 10/10.
That was an amazing video cody, you never disappoint us ever. Time cop and people under the stairs are 2 movies that I would love to see remade. Here are a couple of my own.

Of course it did.
One thing probably keeping The Island from being remade is that it got a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against it for copying the plot of a 1979 movie called Parts: The Clonus Horror.
A new Nightmare on Elm Street
I would love to see Event Horizon, The Fly, and Showgirls lol.
Lol showgirls
@@brittanyruffin9406 Lol I know..its a horrible movie. But I liked it 🤣
Event Horizon needs a Prequel, I'd love to see what happened to The Original Crew onboard The Event Horizon and see the Horrors of what happened to them when The Ship disappeared for 7 Years
I agree with everything. With the exception of the people under the stairs. Its one of my fav movies. Reguardless, I respect your opinion.
Spaceballs but about the Disney star wars debacle
6. The birds: Alfred Hitchcock classic horror movie done today with today’s technology with more gore and special effects this would be a very great apocalypse movie
Just change the name to just “season of the witch” or “season of the witch: a Halloween story”
We still need a sequel to Trick 'r Treat, the anthology horror film from 2008.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (I think thats how you spell it). It's a classic 50's monster movie that is pretty outdated that I think can be remade with some awesome CGI monster effects, better characters, and a modern design would be pretty cool.
I enjoyed The Island enough when I saw it in theaters, but I've never felt compelled to revisit it.
I would love someone to take the concept of Thirteen Ghost and do something with it. Whether it’s a new movie or even a mini series going through the lives of the ghosts, I think it would be amazing
your idea of Trick or Treat today would be pretty rad. That movie was a true product of its time.
