This is totally new for us in Southern California... hopefully it's not as bad as predicted...because the cold ocean always protects us from any Hurricanes or Tropical storms if anything we just get a few inches of rain. But I think inland places and mountains might get the most of the rain they always do.

It's because of the angle of the hurricane it's too steep or parallel to the coast

There is typically a storm surge estimate but as a tropical storm it's probably not an issue as much as the surf.
