I ended up DNFing the Once and Future Witches because it was TOO beautiful & amazing and I wasn't ready to appreciate it at the moment hahah. The Thursday Murder Club has been on my TBR for months so I'm excited to pick it up soon!!
After your rave review I immediately picked up The Thursday Murder Club and it was also my favorite book of the year! I felt pretty "meh" about most of the books I read last year, so it was nice to end the year on a high!
Omg I didn’t know AGGGTM was supposed to be set in the UK but it makes literally so much sense because I refuse to believe a single one of those characters is American. They literally still speak with British slang in the American version 😭😭
After reading The Project I brought 4/5 of her other books…you could do a Summerthon in the summer obviously and read all her back list books, I know I would join in and then you could finish off with a reread of The Project to finish it off
Omg Thursday Murder Club really was your favorite of the year!!! I remember your vlog where you said you weren't sure and didn't want to get ahead of yourself by claiming its your favorite book you've read this year-- BUT IT WAS! Omg so excited to pick this up this year, and SO HAPPY Once and Future Witches rank so so sooo highly on both of our lists, it's gotta be one of my favorite books of all time!!!
I know this is a weird comment given the video is a year old and this is a book channel but please could you do a make up tutorial for how you did your make up in this video? Your eye make up especially is popping!
I am so annoyed, but the world makes more sense now (thank you!): I still liked A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, but I'm pretty sure I would've enjoyed the UK version more. It felt like I was reading a completely different book than the one I'd heard about...and apparently I kind of was. There were Briticisms that Americans would never use...and some words that we do use, but that mean something completely different than was clearly intended. Just give us the original please, most of us are anglophiles anyway. Now the question is whether to order the UK version of the sequel from Book Depository and risk a different kind of confusion or settle for reading the mediocre US version.
I own the Klune book but haven’t read it. It doesn’t seem like my thing but the hype makes me think, one day. I know people care about own voices.. I don’t. It just is what it is. I don’t need every story to be presented by someone with that has lived experience with that particular subject matter. But even with all of those feelings I have already, people draw inspiration from everywhere and everything. I don’t know why we feel the need to police it. As long as they aren’t presenting it as if it is their lives experience then I don’t find issue. It’s fiction.
I'm not sure I can take the Traveling Cat Chronicles. Like, I will not survive if anything happened to my cats. I would just simply expire on the spot.

Fun fact: I ended up using theordora goss’ phd dissertation for my research essay for gothic fiction last year

New subscriber… You’re so fun to watch!
Thank you for sharing and your genuine enthusiasm 💯
🤍 Meg - you’re fantastic! Thank you. 😊
Currently reading the Thursday murder club!!! Cheers!
Courtney summers always hypnotises you to walk onto a train track and then proceeds to drive the train and runs it over you. That’s how it feels
Great video!

Nooooo 💔 RIP Once and future witches 😢 in all seriousness if you put Thursday murder club at first place it’s the final push for me to read it too ☺️

No PROJECT HAIL MARY? ☹️
objectively it might be better than some of the books on this list but i actually gave it 4.5 stars so it couldnt make it on here!
@@megwithbooks I'd like then "a almost favorite books of 2021" video, like the one Caroline Johnson loaded 😁
💟
