  • Sean Payton gave Russell Wilson a chance, but this is not working for the Broncos... so let's not start a narrative that it was the coach created this mess in Denver. After the decision to bench Russell Wilson with two games left in the season was released, Colin Cowherd comes to Payton's defense, and lays out why this is what offensive coaches do. Plus, Tyreek Hill had time to address come of The Herd host's comments on social media, and Colin bristles over being called a thug by the Miami Dolphins offensive star.

    Miami really exposed Sean Payton´s team, specially the defense and Colin still blamed Russell for the historic loss. The QB was responsible for the 70 burger the Dolphins laid on the Broncos, not the HC. Yeah I'll buy that. Colin sounds like Sean Payton´s agent defending his client before the team owner. Sean Payton without Drew Brees is like Bill without Tom Brady. Isn´t Sean Payton the one who said he would bench Tua for whatshisname? So I´m not sure Sean can spot qb talent any better than a defensive coach either. Let´s see for how many years Sean and Colin blame Russell for the mediocre results Sean will deliver as HC.

      Tua competently led his offense up and down the field on drives for 3 quarters before sitting out the 4th. By comparison, Russ looked awful struggling All game just to put up 13 points, 1 TD and 1 INT. He lead the Broncos to Open the season 0-3 AGAIN! That's so demoralizing, the writing was already on the wall

    In Sean Payton's defense, stats can be a little misleading. Carson Wentz threw 27 touchdowns and just seven picks in Indy and was gone the next year. I think this year is Russ' ceiling in Denver imo, and I don't blame Payton for moving off him.

    I'm old enough to remember the Saints winning bc they had Greg Williams and a physical defense. Once the defense became average the Saints had a bunch of .500 seasons. Arguably the best offensive coach in NFL history, Bill Walsh had top trn defenses with all-pro players.

      Exactly. Apparently, getting 85% of “the young Seattle Russ” is not enough for Sean Peyton to keep Russ as the team’s starting QB. While 85% is not 100%, 85% should be enough for the great Sean Peyton to work with to make the Denver offense a competitive offense.

    If it wasn’t Payton’s problem- why didn’t he let the GM join him at the press conference instead of pretending it was a performance ( a spark ) issue? The Broncos were still in the hunt, and are pulling the plug - 100% for financial reasons. Mike Florio has the better take on this issue.

    This offensive coach and defensive coach is ignorant and illogical. Pete literally moved off Russ and Bill wanted to move off of Brady before Kraft stopped it. Im pretty sure the greatest Defensive mind Bill Belichick understands offenses in and out just like how Andy Reid understands defenses in and out. Colin never mentions how Andys eagles always had a top 5 defense when they dominated the NFC. He never mentions how offensive head coaches that won titles like the Ravens Stealers Broncos had all time defenses. right now the league favors the offense yes, but history has favored defensive head coach with a HOF QB besides Paul Brown/ Otto Graham, Lombardi/Bart and Bill Walsh/Montana. Is the defensive head coach the problem or the lack of good offensive coordinators?

    • @game3525
      @game3525 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is nonsense. Colin just likes to stereotype defensive coaches as rigid caveman. Pete tried to recruit Manning. You don't think he would let Peyton throw it all over the yard? Belichick had Brady and let him cook, Tomlin had Roethlisberger and let him cook. When these defensive coaches had the guy, they had no problem opening up the playbook.
