Bill your the man, ive done every install on my focus st with your help and i'm a mechanic haha. ive only been working on cars 6 years so i still have alot to see and learn, and i was very hesitant to work on this new car i bought in fear i might do something wrong, but your install videos have made it a breeze and not only that but definitely raised my confidence with performing upgrades to cars, where prior all i could do was replace broken parts with oem stuff and was intimidated with performance modding. thanks a ton bill!
At 4:30 I had to pull up on the shifter to grab the spring with the pliers. While was pulling the spring up, I rotated the shifter clockwise (for me) and poped it out! Only took 30 minutes for that one step :)
after watching this video, I decided to try and install a boomba shifter on my ST. I've done this on my previous car, a 2002 WRX, and after watching the video I wasn't too worried. The main hang up was that spring at 4:26. The video just says "just lift up the spring and take out the shift plate", easy, I thought... I wrestled with that thing for more time than the entire install. How did you disconnect the spring? You dont show it in the video. I think I just got lucky by twisting the shifter to try to get the right socket out of the hole its seated in while pulling up on the spring with pliers and cursing as much as possible in between frustrated breaths. Other than that, good video.
I used a hook pick instead of pliers. Getting it out was easier than finaggling it all back in place.. I agree, getting it out/in took longer than the rest of the installation lol
I really would like to know where you moved the spring to and how you moved it back, i got my shifter out but i cant get the new one in and now the sping popped off and is unsprung, so i gotta pull the shifter assembly now which means pulling the console, small job just got majorly huge...
@@shitcreekwarrior8794 some cars have it, not sure if the ST does. It's a mechanism on the shifter that you have to pull up in order to put the car into reverse.

ngl it popped out and i spent over an hour messing with it and couldn’t get it so i just left it off

same thing happened to me i just said fk it and left the spring out haven’t had any problems as of

From my understanding the short throw shift kit deletes the reverse lockout function if your car is equipped with one?
What is a reverse lockout function? I have a ST2 looking to upgrade

The focus st has reverse lockout and it should still work properly after installing this
Can this kit work for a 2014 Ford Fusion with manual transmission?
It's the height ajustable on the Steeda shifter. Wondering if it sits lower like the boomba and Ford racing?

Would it be still effective with only installing the under the hood plate ? Is that comparable to cobb and others in terms of shortening the throw ?
I installed the shifter but I’m having clearance issues and have to use the reverse lock out to put it into 1st and 2nd gear what do I do

Now after installing my short throw I can now go into reverse without using the lockout. Doesn’t make sense
You can loosen the main hold down bolts and adjust, I have seen that happen from time to time.
Seems like you should've just gotten some fresh lithium rather than smear a residue from the old parts onto the new.

I try my best to keep my hands out of the way but unfortunately with some installations it is just not possible. - Bill
Or the camera did not show the full process such as with the spring you cant even see it when hes taking it out or how.
