It's never too late to live your passion. I'm in my 60s and these are the best years of my life. Sometimes in younger years, you have to do a job in order to pay your bills. But you should never forget what really makes you happy, and keep it alive.

I agree with him, his books are not for powerful people , they are for the disempowered who need to understand how these structures work. I have read every book and they have absolutely helped me navigate life.

I love Robert Greene. I used to be so emotionally reactive and went through way too much hurt I didn’t need to. Now I’m wiser, stronger and ironically even more empathetic. Thank you Mr. Green.
Herd mentality.I had a yard sale yesterday, and noticed that most people would stop by if there was one or more cars parked. Nobody wants to go to an empty restaurant, they prefer to get in line for the busy ones. It takes courageous people to be the first so followers can make decisions.
Park cars out front. I’ve also seen this phenomenon, and this is what I came up with.
an old coworker had his teen son + cousin drive around 'the circle'. (teen son was on learners permit, so it was perfect) it wasn't really a block, more like a circuit where you drive 1/2 mile down, turn right, go four miles, turn right for another two... and they would stop back at the yard sale like they were completely unrelated to the household, ask some version of 'do you have a computer monitor?' answer 'no the two i had got sold about 45 mins ago', jump back into the car, drive off and repeat.
I never feared aloneness
That never was an issue
The attacks for willingness to stand alone society denys that..I'm so thankful for robert greene clarifying so many things I've seen in life...

except one does such with a yard/garage sale, particularly into afternoon when things quiet down too much.
coworker's son got some behind the wheel practice time by doing the above as fake garage sale visitor to his own house.

The more I hear Robert Greene speak the more I like him
I used to think that I was always judging people but I realized that it's not Judgement but Discernment.
my parents taught me to give everyone the benefit of a doubt. as i got older i saw how bad that advice was. people are evil. i have dealt with a couple of narcissist and learned exactly how these people work. my parents were narcissists, and i think they intentionally set me up for narcissistic abuse. i cut off my parents because I saw just how evil they were as i got older. they were covert narcissist that wore a "good" mask. good natured people need to be educated on this subject because we are surrounded by predators.

What you believe becomes your reality, change to believe people are good and good people come in your life

I was abused by narcissist too. I turned my life around by detaching from them and for some, complete cut off. After that, the most important thing I did was to begin looking at the sides of me that are like them or are inviting them unconsciously into my life. I dug super deep to really look at my issues. This is a lifelong process of always looking to myself as to how am I like them or allowing their behavior bc of weakness? And I then work to rid myself of these instead of blaming others. I now say “bless them and change me”. This has changed my life and I’m a better person for it

I thought that too. There's this calmness about him. He is comfortable with himself in and and outside of the world. When he speaks reminds me of a Ram Das with more earthiness or pep!
Robert gives off an air of "putting up with people". If you pay attention, he does this in every interview. Its a power move, and when you read between the lines, you'll notice he's actually really enjoying this interview style.

@@SanDiegoisniceBasically thinking of them as great and wonderful, your vibe will match with theirs. Just make sure you’re not faking the vibe but you truly believe it
@cosmicboy7188 that's not always true. Some people don't always think they are great and wonderful and if you do they will see you as a manipulator. What you want to do is discern their opinion of themselves and mirror that. Perhaps in a good light, but a mirror non the less.
For example. Lots of beautiful women don't actually think extremely highly of themselves, they know they have faults like everyone else.
If you approach them with unearned adoration, they see you as a manipulator like all the other men. If you approach them with a mirror of their own opinion of themselves, an accurate mirror, they will see it as actual respect, like you actually see them.
I can relate to his process. I wrote my first book when I was seven. Later in life, I ended up helping old people in care homes to write their life stories and publish them on Amazon for their friends and family around the world to read. I also turned the poems I wrote for them about their lives into animations that I put up on TH-cam. What I earned doing this helped me pay off my mortgage and invest in the stock market so I could buy a second property and rent out the apartment that I own mortgage-free. I also managed to write over 100 books including two novels and several poetry books by following that voice that just said to me that I had to write.
When you put your creativity into practice you get paid twice, once for the money your earn, the other for the nourishment of your soul 🧡 Good for you!

I’m 26 and I’ve had this scarcity mentality that has really slowed me down my entire life. It’s really damaged my ability to get ahead in school and now I’m a college dropout. I’m not sure what my next move should be but I’m glad this man exist. Thanks Robert I will be reading all your books. Just listening to you gives me more clarity
Whatever you do keep taking classes, even if it's online and only one a semester.. That way no matter what you're still progressing towards a better life.
You’re not damaged or slowed down in any way except that you allow. Where you are is your starting point. We all have one. What happened in the past has NO bearing on your tomorrow, except what you allow. It’s too easy to blame the past stuff (no matter how true). No one ever got ahead in anything, ever, using blame as a tool. Your tool kit includes things you’ve learned FROM the past stuff. If you’ve learned nothing then you’re going to see it come up again and again, until you do. I have learned all this the hard way. I share this with you so you don’t have to.

Your still young, make a plan over 2 years and you will be super successful by 28!
Here's a tip: people will not ask your age, but they will use your graduation date as a proxy. Graduating later can make you look younger.
The most important thing is to graduate into a good economy for your sector. Think about whether to have a "Plan B" or to go for broke in a field where you love the work and excel naturally.
People who advise you to forget your true passion and be "practical" may be doing you a grave disservice, because if you end up having to compete with people who LOVE love what they do, you probably can't. They may be able to work 50 and 60 hour weeks, no problem. That is always a drag -- and not practical, either.
So I just came across this video. I thought it would be good as a bedtime material. Oh man. How wrong was I! So 40 minutes into it, my heart is thumping, my neurons are dancing tango and I feel that all my ideas that I've been mulling over the past weeks will burst out uncontrollably. My eyes are wide open, my mind is a sponge and I'm ready to do anything but sleep. This is some truly inspiring shit. Tomorrow is my last day of work and then holidays are coming. Suddenly I know what I'm going to be doing. Watch these guys over and over, order Green's books and take that godnamn inspiration for a spin! Honestly, the best stuff I've seen in ages. It's funny how sometimes you find exactly what you need on your journey and it does the trick. 🍀

Robert Greene is the author that got me into reading. Not only is he insightful but also entertaining.
I appreciate Robert Greene's books because he researched and found proof that we all have multiple personalities and if we embrace and acknowledge that fact. Then we will be able to handle ourselves better... it kinda keeps us humble because we are no better or worse than the other person.

What if THAT is what gets me bullied by my boss at work? I can't quit but to survive I have to hide my authentic self as a protective measure so I can survive my narcissistic boss. Til I can get away from her at least.
I've never heard of this man before but after reading a lot of books and attending different seminars over the years, I have to say, this man has managed to put into words exactly what I've been trying to understand. I do also find his voice really easy to listen to and thank goodness he doesn't use a lot of jargon and present airy fairy ideas. Buying his book today.
It's amazing that a man can write one of the greatest books of all time and still be so grounded.
I swear this book got me back to what I love. Music.
Now I just my career as my foundation to supplement and support my music.

My dad was in his late 30s when he got this book. He insisted on me reading it too. The young rebellious idealist that i was, I had many heated debates as to why this book, these rules were evil. Now that m in my late 30s, i miss my dad. I wish he was still with me to discuss and reflect on the pure gold that this book delivers. Its a weapon that i m discovering against the reality of the world and people
I have infinite respect for Robert Greene he is great author who writes to really and honestly help people without BS
And he personally helped me with his "33 Strategies Of War" which was like a punch to the gut and a harsh reality check which I needed, specifically keeping the presence of mind chapter
Which I read while being in the dark place from which I could not see the exit but after reading that chapter and learning historical examples I understood the need to take control of my mind because just panicking and feeling hopeless won't fix anything. I need to calm down and analyze situation to find solution and become the arm for people to depend on. (Of course I did not immediately shut off emotions rather just received a direction to become more resilient)
That chapter literally changed my life for the better things I dreaded became mundane.

I know someone who didn’t become wildly successful until his 70’s. Toiled all his life, doing the same thing, in the same industry, he made some changes and took a risk, sold his company for $780 million 6 years ago , he toiled there for 50 years. At points the company had negative worth. He decided to get better people by paying more then competition , significantly more , and selling more expensive and luxurious product, after a year or so the avalanche of money his company started to make, allowed him to advertise and grow like crazy. He got a private Jet and a box at Jets stadium , he is a lifelong Jets fan, that’s not a very successful team. But he stuck with them. He made his sons and close associates millionaires . I worked for him for 20 years. He was a great boss.
My gosh, Robert seems to have got to the heart of the matter.
I watch a lot of podcast with mr. Greene and you are one of the few who really knows what your saving and not just like nodding and uhmmm yess, that's true kinda respond. Great job! This is really enjoyable to watch 👍👍

About 53 minutes in they expound on the important art to separating this isn't good vs I'm not good. Knowing that your work can use improvement shows that you know what is good; accept that there is a good enough level, that is indicative of your current skillset. Do things as well as you can at the moment, don't slack off and don't compare to your future abilities. They explain this well.
He is speaking truth about workplace politics and majority are mean to deadliest end.

Just remember the world is a stage and everyone is an actor and the sooner you realize that what people say is typically the opposite of what they really want and that you should just figure out the role they are playing and you can win anyone who you meet over. Need to be someone you don't know, its a lot harder to change a negative opinion than to create a positive one

I love Robert Greene’s books and the message of being aware of manipulations & social surroundings and defending yourself against it. Where people are messing up is that they feel like they must be liked by everyone so will use the laws to be fake, manipulative and disingenuous.
There was a jock in high school and used to sit next to me in class and say, “Tennille, you’re so hot but why do you dress like such a freak.” I would reply, “So guys like you don’t try to date me.”

I just read The 48 Laws of Power there is a Reversal section for every law he mentioned.
We read to learn but not exactly to copy what we read or apply we still have to use our own brain. By reading books make us to think, and move.
