    What finish was it you used on the curly maple?

    • @ChadPalmer
      @ChadPalmer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used wipe on polyurethane. I had some broken pieces from the box I dropped so I tried a few different types I tired the poly also shellac/lacquer but liked how the poly came out so I went with that in the long run.

    Beautiful job showing off some beautifully figured wood. I wish you would have showed the KO'd box, I keep thinking in terms of salvaging so wondering if that is possible. Mobility being an issue, IIWMI'D make a quick wheeled cart, maybe 1/2 to 2/3 the height of the workbench, for moving material around the shop, eventually maybe motorized but initially w/a rope to pull it by & cleat to cool the rope on. Thanks

    • @ChadPalmer
      @ChadPalmer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally should have showed the broken box. I did try to salvage it but it was a goner. It’s funny you mentioned making a cart. @@ChadPalmer excellent! I'm trying my first one today. I don't have any fancy wood. Just a big box maple board, but it will be good practice. Thanks for replying and sharing your art!

      @@ChadPalmer let me tell you a little story. Made my block out of scrap and glued last night. Sat down this morning to make a design. Looked at my saw and realized there was no way in hell that block was going to fit. So I cut it down to size. My poor saw struggled but made it thru. Then as I was gluing the drawer, the tip broke off. Fixed it, but its in the front. Everything is glued up now, but good grief. When I stepped away finally my words were....glad that's over! Lol. Definitely a learning curve for me.
