Standard Disclaimer: Putting your soft, squishy fingers near powerful sharp spinning things is dangerous. I've been doing this for a while and I know what I'm doing but even I'm not invincible. I take a lot of safety precautions based on my level of experience and not all of them are shown on camera. Don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. If it makes you nervous you're probably doing it wrong. Don't do anything stupid. Reapply sunscreen often and floss before bed. Is anyone actually still reading this?
Blake, fabulous artistry and workmanship. Five stars for the leaf box, your shop methods and the video production. No question that you are raising the bar. More, More!
Has anyone else here tried to blow away dust particles only to realize that you’re still wearing your mask?
Nah i suck to check
I always do It 🤣
More than once!
Nooo.... yes.
No, but it's probably gonna happen.
Quilted maple makes anything look great
Love the color of the box, the shape, size could be a little bigger but so so nice, just awesome.
Well done. Beautiful box. Beautifully filmed. Great sound engineering too.
Thank you very much!

Gorgeous work. Gorgeous editing and production as usual!
Thank you!
Stunning!
Love this, great little box, and wicked grain in that quilted maple. Enjoyed seeing your workshop setup, I'm in the process of setting up for making boxes for my pens that I turn, so my shop is mainly a turning shop at the moment. Glad this came up on my suggestions, this video got me to sub to your channel, so now I need to check out your other projects. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Such a beautiful piece. Thanks for the inspiration.
Your content is top notch. It saddens me that you and a bunch of guys I follow feel the need to keep “defending” the amazing tools you have.. you would never defend the tools if it was just a saw and a hammer, because that is what you have... and yet exactly like you said, you have acquired these tools for over 20 years...so the heck with guys that complain and say “it must be nice” “I wish I could have a CNC”. I just feel bad for you guys...
Grant Etherington I totally agree with you and I almost never worry about it. But occasionally I do a video aimed at beginners and that’s when it needs to be mentioned so they don’t get intimidated. When I’m building purely for me I pull out all the stops and don’t look back. Have you seen my Mountainscape Cabinet video? ...Perfect example.
Very nice work
Thank you!
U got me hiked brother 👍🏽
Hooked
Thank you!
Beautiful music and wonderful vid!

Wow, for some reason I presented such a model of an ottoman or ottoman!
wow!
Thank you!
Чувак ты ваще МЭН!!! КРУТО!
Really enjoyed video, want to head to the shop right now. If you aren't fortunate enough to have a CNC to route out the interior of the box, what approach would you recommend to make the interior cuts seamless?
Thank you! Before I had a CNC I have done it with a router, and router template, or by drilling out the center with a large forstner bit and then a scroll saw, or you could even use hand tools. If you don't mind the seam you can even do it as a bandsawn box. Or you could train your pet termites and they could remove the desired material. Lots of options.
Как красиво!!! 😍
That's all you used, sanding sealer and clear satin poly, and you got that kinda luster out of it?
Yep, thats it.
@@weberwoodshop thanks.
And yea, Minwax clear satin polyurethane is about all I use as a top coat anymore, hard to mess it up.
Very nice work!! I really enjoyed this and I will be trying this myself very soon. What brand CNC is that you are using?
Thanks! Its a Shapeoko
Prácticamente las máquinas lo hacen todo
what kind of glue did you use to repair that rosewood?
Starbond instant C.A. glue.
@@weberwoodshop cool thank you
😍😍😍
Does anyone have an opinion about the Ridgid spindle/belt sander Vs the Wen (or apparently this week Harbor Freight makes one too) version. I hear they’re basically the same machine but the Ridgid has a slightly larger table. Worth the extra $50 or unnecessary?
русский подписался, очень зашла культура работы не знаю кто переведет но общения хотелось бы
Where do you purchase your veneer?
Veneersupplies.com
is it ethical to use rosewood
Its been in my shop for probably 15 years so in this case yes.
I'd like you to have more clamps.
I'm good.
@@weberwoodshop To each his own.
Stunning!
Thank you!
Wow! The pillowing of the top is a fantastic detail that completely elevates the whole design. Great work
Thank you!
Yeah, I agree, nice touch.
I third it. Beautiful.
I don't know how you don't have a million subscribers, a true artist. This is coming from a professional cabinet maker.
I'm workin' on it... tell the world hah
There is only ONE of these boxes left on my website! I'll try to update this comment each time I sell one. Visit www.weberwoodshop.com to purchase.
I have just done my version of this idea. My wife will love this for a stocking filler. The grain I chose on the lid using the reverse flip method is just lovely . Thanks so much for such a simple idea. This is probably one of the best finished products I have made. Christmas giving is so much more enjoyable when ideas from kind individuals like you make it so much more enjoyable. Thank you. Stay safe.
Thank you!
Beautiful. I love making boxes. I’ll try my version of this soon’ thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you! Post it on Instagram when you finish your box!
Somehow this is one of the most beautiful things I've seen so far on TH-cam woodworking-wise. Thank you very much for this great idea and instructions. Stay safe Blake (and also - especially - your family!)
Filming and editing and choice of music are to the same standard as the box, you're one clever fella.
My parents had something like that to keep their weed in.
I love your rounding of the top. Any tips for trying something like that? I'm nervous.
Try it on a scrap, just a little at a time until it looks right. It’s easy!
@@weberwoodshop Haha, yes, always: practise practise. Might not make perfection but it will certainly improve.
Don't use a solid sanding block for finishing, use something soft & spongy that will adapt to the shape and give smoother gradients & rounder edges
I never cease to be stunned by the beauty of our natural world and that people like you find this beauty and share it. Thank you.
You do some great work!
Thank you!
I also made the box on a band saw.
Nice!
good day! can you tell me what you cover at the end? what goes at the very beginning, after which you polish it afterwards?
You made a beautiful leaf box my friend, but you forgot that each leaf has a petiole ;))
Was very basic. I expected a lot more.
Bob Ayoub this comment is vague and dumb.
Super! I can't understand one thing - how you draw so perfect form. I can't found any way for it..
کاش یه کم بزرگش میکردی ازبغل باز میشد بایه لایه اضافی
Excellent! And a beautiful video production! Inspirational! Thank you for sharing your artistry!
Really the hardest part of woodworking is having the right tools for the job. I had one of those spindle sanders but for the cost I didn't think it was worth the workshop space, mainly because it was too slow. For internal shaped work I ended up using a router with a quarter inch collet and profiling bit so you can follow a template and make multiple sections exactly the same before gluing them together. If you've got any corners you can always chisel them out afterwards..
An object of beauty. Full marks.
i'm new to your channel and this was an instant subscribe for me. beautiful workmanship and a quick glance through your videos reveals that you make a lot of lovely things that my dream self would decorate a house with. you give off a calm yet competent vibe too!
Thank you!
Wonderful! Would love to see what you could do to a keyboard wrist rest, or a headphone stand. :)
5:24 Needs more clamps.
In all seriousness, it's gorgeous.
I love how that looks, the shape and top flows really nicely. I may have to make some myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you!
Beautiful. Thanks for the video and keep doing what you do.
You have a drum sander which excels at flattening small parts but you still glued sandpaper to plywood for flattening. Why? Was it just to show people don’t need a drum sander to do it?
Drum sander is good for smoothing, not really for flattening a small box. This works better.
Hey man, a bit off topic, but I've enjoyed your videos for years, and IIRC you are/were a firefighter. How are things by you in terms of wildfires?
Thank you, yeah it’s been keeping us busy. Starting to let up a bit but the seasons only half over.
I struggle with the uses of CNC machines. To many bragging of the work their computer did
Then clearly you know nothing about CNC work.
At the end its beautiful but the way he works mmmmm🤔
Very bad why all this sanding and milling when you have a cnc???
You clearly don’t have a clue what you’re talking about to criticize the way I work. A CNC doesn’t do the milling and sanding for you.
I've been doing some little projects as a hobby for about a year now. I found your channel recently, and I'm sure I'll be at a whole new level soon. Your vids have so many "AHA!" moments. Thank you!
Thank you!
You have glued solid wood bottoms all around the piece. Has the bottom survived a year of seasonal movement?
Yes its fine because its so small.
Crazy how little dust you have in your shop lol
Are you providing templates to patreon members? I joined but did not find them????
ykmjc yes, can you contact me through PATREON so I can make sure you have access?
I can't see my way clear to watch folks make things with tools I can never afford...
Then you probably should never watch anything on TH-cam or TV either for that matter.
I just became a Patreon member. I have to say that your work is inspirartional and speaks to not just the woodworker in all of us, but to the artist as well. I am curious about the proportions of the box. It just looks "right". How tall, long and wide is th box?
A little late to the show here, but I just wanted to say how gorgeous this is! I just got into woodworking 6 months ago, but I'm tryout to learn as much as possible. At 51 years old, I got a late start. Maybe I can one-up you with a maple or oak leaf. Like on my deathbed, perhaps? 😊
