I would be calling the one star bakery and asking why all the styrofoam and what happened to the latte cake? They need to KNOW why they will be getting a one star!
I doubt that 1 star bakery would have quoted $1000 if you asked them specifically for that cake, because no one in their right mind would pay that. The fact that that’s what they gave you and took the $1000 anyway seems criminal.

The craziest part of the 1 star cake is how little cake it had. Regardless of how the design looks, you should definitely be getting a lot of cake with such a huge budget
And it wouldn't have been hard to achieve by using dowels. I love watching shows where they make outrageous cakes but too often many of them get stuck on making a great looking cake but actually leave out the, well, cake. Even the Santa cake. You can tell they just used garland from the store. But they could have made their own with wafer paper. I wish these cakes were more cake then structure. Especially for that price point...

and the vanilla should be real vanilla bean in both the cake batter and frosting, 2 vanilla bean pods are probably less than $20 and some instant coffee brewed into a concentrated syrup for the cafe latte flavour would have been easy to do, i feel cheated and duped by the 1 star bakery and i didn't even spend the $1,000 ahha

I think you got ripped off by the 1 star bakery. The Christmas tree cake is definitely not worth 1k. Half the cake was styrofoam and the elements looked a bit sad. The Santa DJ, while not my favorite cake out of all the Christmas cakes you've shown before, definitely hit the 1k range. They understood the assignment and delivered!

Yeah I’m beyond mad. I can forgive lack of creativity and technical design skills but at LEAST give the correct flavors and $1,000 worth of cake!! I would rather see a basic 5 tier cake with the correct flavors and just a little Christmas tree on top and ribbons cascading down. For what they did, that whole tree should’ve been cake

Completely agree with the comments in this thread! The 5-star bakery’s back of the cake is sad and therefore the cake is not 3D, and it’s essentially a quarter sheet cake with a little bit more edible things. Not really phenomenal for $1,000 but cute idea when not considering the cost. The 1-star bakery needs no more commentary! 😭
I'm surprised that backboard made out of cardboard survived transportation lol. As soon as it was shown I thought it was going to come crashing down. I did like the theme only because my son's birthday is on Christmas eve and he LOVES music but yeah. Most of that wasn't editable. Another thing I noticed was the store bought garland. They could have made that. Yeah, not worth a grand...

Not sure if Santa was edible though and agreed on it basically just being a rectangular cake that can only be viewed from the front
I really love how the 5 star did the turn table like a ginger bread house. Super cute. You can tell they're very creative and put a lot of thought, effort, care, and passion into to their work.
You can definitely see why the first bakery only has 1 star. It's a cute cake, but they definitely short-changed their customer in effort and final product...and they got your order wrong. The second one is phenomenal!

Me too, I thought it was really bad for $1,000, it should’ve been like $100-200. The second one was literally AMAZING and was totally worth $1,000 maybe even MORE!! That’s definitely my favorite cake ever.
She used to be more harsh. I almost stopped watching her. There was a video where she was disappointed over factors she never told the bakers and everyone in the comments was really upset because it was like well you got what you asked for and you didn’t ask for that. Like it was a very open ended prompt but she was tearing in on them about how she had wanted specific things. So I think since then she has worked on being more kind about her critiques

You could tell that the 5 star bakery was so excited by the challenge and that they really wanted to have fun with it and went all-out. I can just imagine the brain storming session they had, excitedly coming up with ideas! The one star cake was nice, but definitely not worth $1000, and they definitely didn't go all out, they just did what they would normally do for a higher price.
Honestly I would go back to that 1 star bakery and demand my money back...that was ridiculous for 1000 dollars where what seems to be more than half of it is Styrofoam its crazy!
After all the other issues with the 🌟 star bakery cake, the fact that they skimped on the cream cheese in the CREAM CHEESE FILLING for a THOUSAND dollar cake just screams unscrupulous to me.

That one star cake though... if I paid $1k for that, I would ask for a partial refund. Especially since they missed on of the requested flavors and most of the tree is foam. And the design is fine, but not super pretty or elevated to justify the price. Like, you gave them $1000. Where did they put it? The five star one on the other hand... that one is epic. If you're going to spend that much on a cake, they better deliver cake magic, and that is indeed cake magic. I don't have a lot of excess money to spend, so I'm spending money even at a restaurant, I always question if I could make it better at home. (I'm not trying out for Gordon Ramsay's shows anytime soon, but I can hold my own in the kitchen.) If the answer to that is yes, it wasn't worth it. If it's not, then whatever I ordered was indeed worth the splurge of treating myself. I really don't enjoy baking, but my sister does and is a talented artist as well, so for cakes, I judge them by whether she could do the same cake better at home. That one-star one, she could do it way better and probably under $100, so oof.
Agreed, that bakery took this as a cash grab moment. They effectively made 3 small square cakes and 1 round with a Styrofoam cone on top. Nothing about it took time or skill. I'd bet if they came in with $300, they would have got the same cake.

The reason the back broke away from Santa on the DJ cake is *you didn’t support the stabilizer legs which were to keep it in place-* they were hanging 1/2 off your spinner. Had they not it wouldn’t have had any room to move that backdrop.

They also probably couldn’t believe anyone was actually forking over $1000 to them for a Christmas cake, when they had to know if someone had that kind of money to throw around they would go to a top-notch bakery, not one with such a low rating!! I was actually let down by both. The first with the 1-star obviously was a scam. That wasn't a $1000 cake, there was hardly any cake at all lol. The back wasn't decorated and one of the two flavors wasn't correct. Still, even the second one wasn't my favorite of all the Christmas themed ones shown from previous episodes. It was just a square cake and also, not decorated in the back just a giant card board with the wiring taped to the back. Between the two visually I prefer the 1-star, but obviously the $1000 price is absurd. I'd believe $100 UNTIL I realized I had no cake through more than half the tree X) What the heck is that about? Really fun and it is great to see your excitement, the DJ Santa seemed right up your alley so I am glad the two of you enjoyed it! I hope you three have a safe and merry holiday season! Wow..that second cake…Amazing!!! Definitely worth the $1000. Great Christmas theme, structure and the music…terrific. And cakes tasted great. Cake #1, big disappointment. I mean that Christmas tree should have been all cake. I mean only 1/2 + the gift cakes wouldn’t feed very many people. Plus, they didn’t listen to your instructions about flavours or being 3D with some electronic elements. So ehhhh..pushing the FAIL BUTTON!!! If I were a paying customer, I’d want a partial refund. I actually kind of like that the bows on the first cake can be moved. It's realistic, like a real bow. As long as its not falling apart, saggy, then being able to move a little I think is okay. Being a 1 star, I think it was nice. Maybe not for $1,000 😅😅 but definitely deserved better than a 1 star. They probably got that from pricing lol. The second cake was adorable. Loved it. So many Christmas elements in it. Elf on the shelf vibes, gingerbread house vibes. Love how the cake board was all decorated. Love how they had music included. Two was definitely the winner in my eyes. Even if there was no cake 😂 (Not saying there wasn't, I just mean that even if both of these had been fake and just for looks or something, I'd get the second one to just sit out on my counter for decoration lol)

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if it was amazingly delicious but dang! Half the tree wasn't cake and they forgot a flavor! Wth!

Me too, I thought it was really bad for $1,000, it should’ve been like $100-200. The second one was literally AMAZING and was totally worth $1,000 maybe even MORE!! That’s definitely my favorite cake ever.
She used to be more harsh. I almost stopped watching her. There was a video where she was disappointed over factors she never told the bakers and everyone in the comments was really upset because it was like well you got what you asked for and you didn’t ask for that. Like it was a very open ended prompt but she was tearing in on them about how she had wanted specific things. So I think since then she has worked on being more kind about her critiques

You could tell that the 5 star bakery was so excited by the challenge and that they really wanted to have fun with it and went all-out. I can just imagine the brain storming session they had, excitedly coming up with ideas! The one star cake was nice, but definitely not worth $1000, and they definitely didn't go all out, they just did what they would normally do for a higher price.
Honestly I would go back to that 1 star bakery and demand my money back...that was ridiculous for 1000 dollars where what seems to be more than half of it is Styrofoam its crazy!
After all the other issues with the 🌟 star bakery cake, the fact that they skimped on the cream cheese in the CREAM CHEESE FILLING for a THOUSAND dollar cake just screams unscrupulous to me.

That one star cake though... if I paid $1k for that, I would ask for a partial refund. Especially since they missed on of the requested flavors and most of the tree is foam. And the design is fine, but not super pretty or elevated to justify the price. Like, you gave them $1000. Where did they put it?
The five star one on the other hand... that one is epic. If you're going to spend that much on a cake, they better deliver cake magic, and that is indeed cake magic.
I don't have a lot of excess money to spend, so I'm spending money even at a restaurant, I always question if I could make it better at home. (I'm not trying out for Gordon Ramsay's shows anytime soon, but I can hold my own in the kitchen.) If the answer to that is yes, it wasn't worth it. If it's not, then whatever I ordered was indeed worth the splurge of treating myself. I really don't enjoy baking, but my sister does and is a talented artist as well, so for cakes, I judge them by whether she could do the same cake better at home. That one-star one, she could do it way better and probably under $100, so oof.
Agreed, that bakery took this as a cash grab moment. They effectively made 3 small square cakes and 1 round with a Styrofoam cone on top. Nothing about it took time or skill. I'd bet if they came in with $300, they would have got the same cake.
The first cake is not worth $300 in my opinion. I would have been disappointed in that one if I had paid $250 for it. I can see why they are a 1 star bakery.
Exactly. Most of it is Styrofoam. And then they decided to use possibly store bought vanilla cake, for the little bit that was cake, instead of what was asked. Very much ripped her off

The reason the back broke away from Santa on the DJ cake is *you didn’t support the stabilizer legs which were to keep it in place-* they were hanging 1/2 off your spinner. Had they not it wouldn’t have had any room to move that backdrop.
How can the one star bakery deliver that cake for 1000 dollar and half the cake was styrofoam, favours are missing... But dude the 5 star bakery just nailed it. Like one of the discs was moving, the more you see the merrier it get. And I wish you all happy holidays.

They also probably couldn’t believe anyone was actually forking over $1000 to them for a Christmas cake, when they had to know if someone had that kind of money to throw around they would go to a top-notch bakery, not one with such a low rating!! Really, both of these bakeries supplied little cake for the price tag. I mean $1000 is getting into wedding cake territory pricing.

The cake from the one star bakery is definitely not worth 1000$ ! I work in a bakery and it might be worth 200$ but not more than that , the cake from the 5star bakery is something else and definitely worth it ! The creativity is amazing and a cake like this not to be found anywhere else!

I was actually let down by both. The first with the 1-star obviously was a scam. That wasn't a $1000 cake, there was hardly any cake at all lol. The back wasn't decorated and one of the two flavors wasn't correct. Still, even the second one wasn't my favorite of all the Christmas themed ones shown from previous episodes. It was just a square cake and also, not decorated in the back just a giant card board with the wiring taped to the back. Between the two visually I prefer the 1-star, but obviously the $1000 price is absurd. I'd believe $100 UNTIL I realized I had no cake through more than half the tree X) What the heck is that about? Really fun and it is great to see your excitement, the DJ Santa seemed right up your alley so I am glad the two of you enjoyed it! I hope you three have a safe and merry holiday season! Wow..that second cake…Amazing!!! Definitely worth the $1000. Great Christmas theme, structure and the music…terrific. And cakes tasted great. Cake #1, big disappointment. I mean that Christmas tree should have been all cake. I mean only 1/2 + the gift cakes wouldn’t feed very many people. Plus, they didn’t listen to your instructions about flavours or being 3D with some electronic elements. So ehhhh..pushing the FAIL BUTTON!!! If I were a paying customer, I’d want a partial refund. Cause it sure ain’t worth $1000!!!
I actually kind of like that the bows on the first cake can be moved. It's realistic, like a real bow. As long as its not falling apart, saggy, then being able to move a little I think is okay. Being a 1 star, I think it was nice. Maybe not for $1,000 😅😅 but definitely deserved better than a 1 star. They probably got that from pricing lol.
The second cake was adorable. Loved it. So many Christmas elements in it. Elf on the shelf vibes, gingerbread house vibes. Love how the cake board was all decorated. Love how they had music included. Two was definitely the winner in my eyes. Even if there was no cake 😂 (Not saying there wasn't, I just mean that even if both of these had been fake and just for looks or something, I'd get the second one to just sit out on my counter for decoration lol)
@MsMaryPatricia I would not pay $1,000, like I said. But I still thought it was a cute cake for a 1 star. At least concept wise. I've seen better from home bakers, probably even from some Walmart bakeries. But I still think it was cute FOR a ONE star. Not worth the price, like I said. We agree on that.
