      @@zarnagadhiya So your prescription must have been over -9.00 which is about the limit for lasik surgery. But the ICL is is just as good and is used for higher prescriptions. I know someone that was given ICL free as she was test patient. Her glasses were in the -12.00 range before surgery. Interesting that one eye was slightly better than 20/20 and at 20/15. Her other eye was wasn't quite as good and she had a very weak prescription for that eye of -.50. I would have thought she would have simply wore one contact lens on that eye. But instead she chose to wear glasses which she said she wore fulltime even though her eyesight was almost perfect without glasses. I think she had just gotten so used to wearing glasses all the time she may have thought she looked better wearing glasses. She was really cute and did look really god wearing glasses.

    Thankyou so so much for sharing your experience! I am really considering it but terrified that it’s going to hurt. I’m a very anxious person and scared I’ll be too panicked during surgery. Before you had surgery what did you do when swimming? Did you wear contacts in the sea/pool etc and just take them out afterwards? I’ve never wore contacts but nervous I’m not going to be able to go in the sea anymore? Any advice? Xx

    • @thenilusss4911
      @thenilusss4911 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FutureEventerXD Risks are higher order aberrations. Especially vertical coma aberration that results in subtile monocular double vision and make text reading on every light emissing device very uncomfortable. The chance to get this from current laser eye surgeries is 50% (result of most studies).
      Most people would say that this would be ectasia, but ectasia is easy to cure through modern Crosslinking with vitamin B2.

    What was your prescription before getting surgery?

    • @ambarmdriscoll
      @ambarmdriscoll  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      -4.5!

    • @soundmanpt
      @soundmanpt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ambarmdriscoll Are you sure about that? Your glasses look much much weaker than that. I'm a retired optician and in looking at and thru your lenses I could barely see any prescription at all. The frame of your glasses was only a thin wireframe so any real lens thickness would easily be seen on the edges of your lenses. Now of course you could have gotten the optional "high index" lens thickness which is a much thinner lens used for higher prescriptions. I was going to ask you what your pre lasik prescription was but I was also going to estimate it as being maybe less than -2.00 at the most. So you really were quite blind without either glasses or contacts. So would I be right in thinking that you got your first glasses somewhere between the age of 10 and 13? I'm thinking that because because that was the when I was fitting many young girls with their first glasses. Between the ages of 10and 13 is when girls tend to have their biggest growth spurt. That spurt can often cause a lengthening of the eyes. That lengthening results in the eyes becoming shortsighted or as we here in the U.S. call it nearsighted. I was able to see thru your glasses at things in the background appeared minified meaning that your in fact shortsighted which your prescription also indicates as well. Then of course once you start needing glasses for the next ten years your eyesight will continue to worsen from year to year.

  • @soundmanpt
    @soundmanpt ปีที่แล้ว

    As a retired optician I'm always very interested in reading people's experiences with lasik surgery. Like everyone else you couldn't be happier with the results and would recommend it to anyone considering it. I'm guessing after a few months and your eyes fully healed your eyesight was even slightly better than what is considered as being perfect. Perfect is 20/20 and you are probably seeing more like 20/15 now. So in looking at your pre lasik videos I assume you mostly wore contacts to correct your eyesight and your glasses were rarely ever seen on you in public. When did you first get prescribed glasses? Based on your rather strong prescription I would assume probably sometime between the ages of 10 and 13? You probably got contacts when you started high school which would have been close to you being around 15 years old?
    You were wearing your glasses in this video because because they had you stop wearing contacts for either one or two weeks before your surgery. Most doctors prefer two weeks for the best results. The reason you weren't allowed to wear your contacts is because after you start wearing contacts on a daily basis they form a ridge on your corneas where they sit when you put the on. The doctors want that ridge gone and completely smooth. So in a way it's showing what you probably didn't want people to know. I'm guessing not everyone knew you were a contact lens wearer and your eyesight wasn't very good without those lenses in your eyes. Now they are seeing you wearing glasses fulltime for a couple of weeks. I'm sure you were asked many questions about your glasses and your eyesight, but you probably got lots of complements on how good you looked wearing glasses as well. And to be honest glasses are a very good look on you. Or at least they were when you had to wear them anyway. Now just curious, most doctors require at least a full 12 months if not 18 months without any change in your prescription before doing your surgery. You said that you did in fact have a slight increase of -.25 in your prescription done in the past two years. Even though a -.25 increase is the smallest possible that you could have got. it' still an increase and a change. Considering how much lasik costs I think holding off for a year to see if there was another increase or not would have been the better option. Remember lasik won't prevent or stop your eyesight from changing. it would only take two increases of -.25 to cause you to start needing glasses again. Only part time mainly for driving but still enough to need glasses. Now as long as your fine with that then all is well. Remember even though you no doubt got a warranty which would allow you to get what they call a "touch-up" in case you have have any regression in your eyesight. A "touch-up" is actually just redoing lasik again. Now a few things they don't tell you is that your eyesight would need to regress to around -1.25 or -1.50 before they would do that "touch-up". Also you need to know that as safe as your first surgery was and nearly 100% risk free a second surgery isn't quite as safe. That's because now your corneas would be thinner than before. Something else you haven't likely given any thought to. I have feeling it won't be long before you will getting married and that usually means a good chance of you wanting to have kids. It may surprise you to learn that about 50% of pregnancies will result in change in eyesight. Lasik isn't going to prevent your eyesight from being effected. And the more kids you have the more chances you have for your eyes to be effected. So enjoy your better than perfect vision as long as possible and hopefully it will last for a long time. But the good news is if it doesn't your eyesight will never be as bad as -4.50 ever again. Probably at most maybe around -1.25. Once your eyes were seeing so well it was much different looking through your glasses that used to provide you with good vision and now everything was just a blur looking through them for the first time. So your cute glasses are now just a memory for you. Do you plan on keeping them anyway as a reminder? When you handed them to your bf and he put them in front of the camera I really didn't think they looked as strong as -4.25. Are you really sure that was what your prescription was and not maybe -2.25?
