The Brazilian Bakery in Alexandria is justly famous for its birthday, wedding and grooms’ cakes, breads, desserts, pastries, and pies too many more sweets to be safe. The “Explore Alexandria” site explains. “Birthday, wedding and grooms’ cakes, homemade cakes and breads, desserts, pastries and pies, candies, and cookies … What started out as baking for fun and on the side has grown into something so much more! Doce Vida Brazilian Bakery now has its own space for customers to come and enjoy a delish bite to eat.”
One enthusiastic fan wrote, “5 stars really isn't enough. Cozy atmosphere, amazing staff, DELICIOUS treats. My kids love going in and picking out their treats. I've never left out of Doce Vida unimpressed by the variety and gift options offered for every occasion. Reasonably priced and upfront service. Used to kind of shop the different bakeries in the area but have become an exclusive Doce Vida customer and plan to stay that way!!!”
We lucked into the place by accident, being long-time devotees of wood-fired ovens and having enjoyed a pie at Wildwood Pizzeria, the Brazilian Bakery was so nearby and it called to us - to give it a try. On our visit the place was chock-a-block with goodies. We got a small selection, including (it turned out foolishly) a single chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious and we will go there again!
