Yeah seriously. She's a really solid option. And combined with silque she can be really good. In echoes I found her quite amazing so... must be a vanilla fe2 thing
I think mekkah is wrong about Tatiana unlike silk she doesn't have to be next to a unit she heals, she can be any were because of pysics whole map range making her a beter healer than silk. she unlocks fortify at level 4 at which point all you need to do is put silk next to her to heal her while she heals all your units. I admit that its a little bit of a pain geting her to level 4 but anyone with the patiance to play gaiden casualy probably wouldn't mind a couple more trips to the monster shrine. Silk is better in combat while tatiana is a better healer.
Tatiana is the easiest healer to train in original gaiden. She has a massive leg up on the other 2 because she is premote and can kill stuff with angel spell which is just so much more reliable than nosferatu
Ronan death was so sad. He was born from a miracle of RNG and to be taken away forcefully like that was heartbreaking because we knew we'd never see such an amazing Ronan ever again.
8:33 Fun fact: you can use the enemy control glitch in the first part of the final map to get a wretched air from one of the two draco zombies. Infinite 1-2 range and stat boosts! Edit: Added an explanation on how to do it in the comments
I spent days trying to set it up. Is it frame-perfect? I know how to do it on Fog of War and other maps, but without Torch and effect tiles I'm at a loss.
If you open a door (doesn't matter how) the tile in the upper left corner becomes an effect tile. I used Cormag and Tana to lure one of the mogalls in there, had him attack from 2 range and then used the enemy control glitch. That way you don't have to rely on the frame perfect reset. It's also recommended to have no units in the range of the dracos since they tend to move first and waste their turn.
1- Tormod from Path of Radience, common guys the lad is a revolutionary at that age! You have to respect that. 2- Brom from Path of Radience, such a likeable fellow, it was so fun to watch him talking with Nephenee on how they weren't soldiers and that he didn't like to fight - even thought he was a general -, how he treated her like one of his daughters - it is really good to see a man and woman relationship that don't involve sex for once in a fire emblem game. 3- Gilliam from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, FE8 was my first Fire Emblem, I was 10 years old, never played any tactical game before and I didn't know english, Gilliam was basically my most important unit, just put him in front of every hit and finish everyone with the other units, I finished FE8 playing like this. 4- Donnel from Fire Emblem Awakening, I think it is the same reason to why I like Brom, just a likeable and courageous lad. Also it's really satisfying to watch him become a Hero. 5- Wil from Fire Emblem Blazing Sword, I really like archers and his dutiful personality just made me like him even more. 6- Rebecca from Fire Emblem Blazing Sword, yes, I really like archers, and she is just so chill. 7- Amelia from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, I have fond memories of her, I think it was the first enemy character that I recruited and it was pure luck - I was about to kill her with Franz - and , even though I was a 10 years old, I made her a paladin. 8- Roy from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, because he is our boy.
@@samloyd9287 Donnel's pretty near the bottom of Awakening's barrel. He can barely survive on the higher difficulties, and even when he's out of the doldrums, he has barely any reclass options and none of them let him keep his Lance rank. Not to mention the very existence of Second Seals means that pretty much anyone can cap every stat if you're willing to grind them up. He can be good, sure... but it takes so much investment that you could throw into someone else.
Mister Bad Guy I’d argue he takes less investment than most. If you need him to take a hit while he’s still a villager, you’re playing wrong. He should be fed kills until he can reclass to mercenary, where he gets such absurd reclass bonuses that he’s on par or better than most of your units. He generally caps all of it most of his stats without needing to be reclassed a bunch
Sam Loyd It’s like once he hits a certain level, he just becomes good. Even before he Second Seals, as a villager, he has potential. His growths are probably the highest in Awakening, each level getting over 5 stats. It’s crazy.
I was surprised to see Lute on the list, but I can completely understand why she might not be one of the best units. However, I still choose to use Lute because I love how she snowballs out of control into a dangerous magic throwing machine. I also agree that Mage Knight is much better than Sage in the long run, although I still love the idea of making Lute a Sage and do that for every run, even though I know that Mage Knight is better, mainly because I love the idea of having a unit that has the capability to use every type of magic (Factoring in Enemy Control Glitch, anyways.)
About Tatiana - In Echoes she starts as a higher level iirc (I think she starts either as a Saint or right at promotion level), and she is the only cleric who gets Fortify in the game. You also get exp for healing in Echoes which makes her MUCH better.
Rutger's one of the best units in FE6 since he's the best bosskiller in the entire game due to his high accuracy and crazy crit rate. Dude can get 100+ crit given correct set up (Double lightning support+Wo Dao+30 class Crit+current crit from Skl+Lck)
Lute is just outclassed by Artur who joins in the same chapter. Pretty similar stats/purpose but Artur gets more Mag on average and a higher staff rank on promotion. Lute really only benefits from getting a mount on promotion, and even that's only 7 Mov in FE8 and not 8. Artur also gets Slayer as a Bishop and just absolutely destroys monster in end game and is the best warper in the game. She's still a 3-4 star unit, just inferior to Artur, that's all.
Yeah, she has horrible stats and is basically made of paper, know matter how much she gets trained. Most characters begin to snowball and become effective units; but assuming that you want to train Lilina to 20/20 (as I always do) then you’re going to be doing A LOT of babying for her (all the way up the ladder). And what is the result of all of that babying? A unit that can be taken out by a level 1 archer with a steel bow. Screw her, I much prefer Cecilia to wield the Forblaze.
Matthew Kimmelman yep, the Crimean army joins Ike's army right before the bridge, although you likely wouldn't use them as they're all outclassed by Ike's army.
Magic-based Cecille in FE12. She's not very optimal for LTC, but she's useful backup to Marisha and Yumina, since she joins earlier and has a better Speed and Magic growth than Linde. Usually, all you have to do is tech to Cavalier on occasion to get her HP and Def to move, and you can lady Sage trio all through endgame.
> sees Tailtyu in the list Who knew Mekkah had such good taste Also, I like using Lilina for the same reason people love Lute. High magic, but near non-existent durability. To her credit, Binding Blade is more PP oriented unlike Sacred Stones and Blazing Sword, which is more EP heavy. Unfortunately, she's kinda competing against Lugh, who joins much much earlier. Also Guiding Rings are scarce, just like all other promotion items in the game. But I still love using her despite all her issues cause player phase glass cannons are always fun to use.
I've actually used Radd quite a lot, even before Mekkkah and Mangs ascended him into meme status. I usually reclass him to cavalier so he gets an insane 30% DEF growth and after a while he grows into a decent dracoknight. But the real reason I like Radd is because he is rad. Radd is a rad mad lad.
I love Edward from Radiant Dawn. I know he's meh at best but goddamn Wrath is so much fun to mess around with. I always end up giving him a wind edge and then let him be a better Leonardo. I'm even using him on hard mode right now. He literally gets 1shot by some of the Part 3/6 tigers, but fuck it. Crit machine Eddy is here to stay being the best wind(edge) mage ever.
I was a bit scared when i saw the Title and the Thumbnail because Gonzi is my fav. Unit in the series. I like using him, I like his design and I like his Character. And I like him because on my last FE6 Playthrough (really slow one) leveled Skill 9 times so yeah... that was amazing.
I'm a huge advocate for Wil and Rebecca. They were the stars of my first FE7 playthrough and they've been close to my heart ever since, especially Wil. I was such a noob back then that I had Rebecca solo the Dragon since she was the only one fast and strong enough (capped STR and SPD). That A support she had with Wil really helped. I also really love Patty (as you can see from my avi). Last playthrough I had I paired Noish with Briggid, and the result was incredible: i.imgur.com/vBBbLPy.png She's very useful for thief utility, but I enjoy raising her up and seeing her decimate everything she can reach in the lategame.
Units that are crappy that I enjoy using: 1: Micaiah. I just like Micaiah, for some reason. 2: Tailtiu. She's my favourite FE 4 character so...Also, I love Wrath. 3: Maria. I love an extra Warp bot. I just spam the Barrier staff with her, and then go to town. 4: Mareeta. It's still funny that she can one-round the final boss at base, with her whooping 3 strength base. 5: Lara*. Lara is a great unit, but I use her in a stupid way. I love giving her the Dain Scroll and Neir Scroll(and Heim Scroll if I have it), and then spamming broken swords on like really weak enemies, or doing the Steal give trick to get her a ton of levels, and giving her Wrath with the Fire Sword, King's Sword or Master Sword. Trust me, it's hilarious watching a 20 defense Lara sweep through piles of enemies with only like 6-9 strength. 6: Miranda. I did a joke B-route run, and since I was memeing with the B-route anyways, I decided to use Miranda. I gave her like every damn scroll (Continue, Moonlight Sword Strike, Elite, etc.), and it was just hilarious. 7: Tina*. I made the most stupid Tina ever once, and boy was she fun to use. Tina is another good unit who I love using in a bad way. I gave her Sun Sword, Awareness, Continue and Ambush. She entered so much combat in the last 15 turns of the game (approx. 9 turns in chapter 24, 2 turns in 24x and 4 turns in 25), that she got to D-rank Light Magic. It was a monumental achievement. 8: Sophia. Best girl. I need not say any more. * = Unit who I use in an intentionally crappy way, but is a decent to good unit.
I remember when playing Radiant Dawn for the first time when I was young on easy I think it was, I couldnt beat the first chapter of part 4, so on one Reset I dumped all of my BEXP into Fiona and Meg since I thought maybe leveling those two up would help me, and they did, so much so I think I actually kept Fiona on my squad since she actually did quite a bit in that chapter. And ever since I've been using Fiona on pretty much all of my hard mode runs, even though I know shes pretty bad
I LOVE Amelia when I can make her a super recruit. I think her sprite is very cute. As a kid it was all about the coolest or cutest characters, same with what pokemon I liked using. Even now, though, I'll use the characters I think are cutest regardless of how good they are.
A little late but I love using Rolf he's just so fun to use and ever since my first POR playthrough on hard he's been a staple when ever I play the Tellius games.
Ewan is the best. He tries his heart out defending his big sister despite the fact that he's super weak and going up against literal monsters. He could have just stayed home and no one would have batted an eyelash, but if it means keeping his big sis safe and happy he'll go up against a spider the size of his house with a fire tome he can barely read. When I was a kid I thought Ewan was lame and wanted to be one of the big strong guys like Garcia or Seth. Now that I'm an adult, I want to be more like Ewan.
I wouldn't really say Tatiana is bad per say, because Fortify is pretty useful late in the game, as well as Thabes. I do enjoy using Tailtu, Myrhh, and Gonzales tho. My personal favorite "bad units" are Patty, Subaki, Olwen, and Python (in no particular order)
Gregster 101 in Echoes she’s good, but in Gaiden she struggles a lot, since she joins so late, healers get no exp, and there isn’t a difficult postgame you really need fortify for. Rings are broken OP in gaiden too so that reduces the need for healing.
Tailtiu has some fun things to play with. I accept that as a fanboy I have an extremely biased view but thank you, so many people just throw her to the mother farm and not recognize how fun she is
I like that in a regular run of Fire Emblem (aka not LTC, HHM 5-star or other highest difficulties), it doesn't really matter all that much which units you use and you can throw rankings out of the window and just have fun. I find rankings interesting because they can show me the potential a unit has, but they don't stop me from loving the feeling of holding off an approaching army with a wall of metal that generals tend to be.
no, she is not bad, she is "bad", which means, she is not very useful in certain playstlyes, specifically speedrunning and LTCs. Although I am not actually sure if that is really true for myrrh as she doesn't need a lot of fights to turn into a solid bosskiller for certain chapters. She is definitely "weird" though when it comes to these kinds of runs due to her abysmal starting level. Also, her MOV isn't great and MOV is like the most important Stat ever for LTCs in a game where you can completely "design" your RNG anyways. At least, she has flier movement though.
My favorite bad unit is Jamke; being able to one-round nearly every enemy is one hell of a drug, and Midir was very soft-spoken, didn't deal as much damage, and overall felt less satisfying. Of course, being a footlocked Archer in Genealogy is also one hell of a drug; the kind that gives you horrific hallucinations. But he's still someone I love to use.
Demonic Gamer Azazel How about Briggid and Faval, lol. Briggid is probably one of the few characters that can survive a Mjonlir, and Faval can one round Ishtar in all of her appearances.
Nice list, some of mine are Dorcas and Bartre, Wallace, basically all trainees, Brom and Say’ri. They may not all be bad but I normally find them outclassed.
As somebody who literally only does bad character runs, this list is decent. Your Arden gen 1 solo story made my head hurt. That's dedication bro. Some of my masochistic favourites (one per game played) to get to the end game are: Lewyn< Coirpre in fe4 (1 of 3 children that can inherit the best magic in the game, but he shows up Hella late, underleveled and unable to use said magic before promotion), any axe fighter in fe6 (Lot, Geese or Gonzalez are the best of the bunch, good luck getting Bartre, Ward or Garret enough skill to hit literally anything), not really any bad characters in fe7 casual, Super recruit Ewan in sacred stones, that Silver tongued philanderer Bastian in Path of Radiance (just used all my resources capping him for a Radiant Dawn transfer...why am I like this?), Fiona in Radiant Dawn ( Magic wielding paladin is certainly novel enough, and Meg is too masochistic even for me). Fates with reclassing means there are no real duds, and awakening masochism basically comes down to not using Frederick on Maniac.
Do more lists like this! A few ideas include: your favorite/least favorite FE games and why, favorite/least favorite maps, most overrated units, least favorite units, and overrated classes.
I really like using Lute and Lilina, and other similar units. Sure, they need babying you need to feed them kills at first, but they quickly snowball into an atomic bomb that can one-shot nearly everything. It's super fun.
Yes! She was so good for me on my PoR playthrough. I didn't know about the Thunder nerf going into RD initially, and I was so sad that she was seriously dragging behind until I found out about it. Still BS.
I usually don't like Ests but Pelleas is one of my favorites to use in radiant dawn. Elincia/Tibarn's sections of part 4 is basically made for training underleveled scrubs, betwy Mercy, the infinite laguz, and the fact tibarn doesn't need help to route maps, so it doesn't cost much, and it's an easier way to get fenrir than Lehran
Gonzales + Treck is the best support Bad unit I love to use though, Tate. I arena train her in 11A because it's there and I take the chapter slowly after recruiting her and Klein anyway and I can promote her right after getting the Elysian Whip from her subordinates. Plus I love her HM bonuses, most recent play through I actually got S rank swords in Chapter 24 from spamming so much Wyvern Slayer. Falco Knights are my favorite class and her support with Alan is so cute, I don't care if she's considered bad she's my favorite FE unit period.
Tate is pretty upper-mid-tier, though, especially on Hard. She isn't great; her bases are trash and Shanna has a pretty hefty lead on her. But she's still a mobile flier in a game where that's a very good thing to be.
As in Echoes healers got exp the exact same way all the other units, that becomes Tatyana a lot more efficient to use, but I know that in Gaiden healers are a pain to train and use. Also, I love Danved/Devdan, and Im' pretty sure he is based on a certain comedian/actor from Mexico, because they look VERY similar, even his ending in Radiant Dawn suggests that he becomes a some kind of traveling comedian that makes people laugh. And I think they are the same person and he's just playing a character, acting like he's just another person, like a comedy actor. Everytime I play FE4 I try to make Arden good, but it never turns out well, he could have a lot of potential. Really fun content Mekkkah, keep it up!
I really like Tatiana from Echoes. As someone who usually doesn’t class Fir into cleric very often, I find myself without a physic user on Alm’s side for a large portion of the game. Yet here, nice and late into the game, comes a fun character with just such an ability to heal at distance. Plus, with some experience, she also accrues fortify, which is just insane. While invoking pegasi proves to be less useful than Genny spamming soldiers the whole game and Silque late-game wreaking havoc with dread fighters, she manages to pull her weight as an effective healer long-distance.
Gonzalaes efectiveness depends a lot in which route you get him. If he joins your army with lvl 5 he has a lot of room to grow. Also, his bad skill is compensated by his other atributes. In my playthrough he managed to kill 7 enemies (1 of them a promoted) in a row with an iron axe in a specilly epic moment. By they way, anyone else think there should a firearm user class in a future game?
My favorite ”Bad” unit to ise is probably Rolf from the Tellius games. He just kept getting really good stat levelups and ended up capping his speed in the final chapters of PoR
I really like using Nyx in Fates. Even though I normally hate using units with accuracy issues, I also like having a fast mage on the team, and Nyx is one of the few early options you have.
Nice list, I often use these units as well because of fun niches they fill (except Danved, he's quirky but pretty useless). I'll add in that Lilina on normal mode of FE6 is pretty easy to train up quickly, has a quick Roy support, and can nuke hordes of wyverns while standing on a mountain with Gonzo support from a peak near her in Chapter 21, so she's my pick and maybe shouldn't even be called bad.
On Sacred stones, the only two bad units that I enjoy using and having on my team are Ross and L'arachel. Ross: At first when I start playing Sacred stones, I thought he was trash and had no place on my team, but then when I learn more about him and class, he got potential in my eyes. Not only that, but his personally remains me one of the anime characters with great determination and will power which I like to see in characters. Still not good and needs investment, but he's worth it and I feel very satisfied using him as my main axe user. L'arachel: Great supports, good personally, funny, and should had been the main character instead of Eirika even though I like her. Pain to train up, but worth it and like to make her busted because it feels so good to use her.
*potentially* is the key word here. She won't actually get there unless you grind and/or slow down a lot, and even if she does get there 30 magic is 99% of the time just a pretty number because it's massive overkill
Fun bad units: Aran/Nephenee because of the novelty of using a soldier Ronan because he got the movement stars and solid unpromoted movement Sonya because mage rings are fun Fe5 Machua because she just makes a good first impression in manster chapters Fe11 wrys because he really isnt that bad as a long term h5 healer. Lena isnt always everywhere and wendell is busy being a combat unit. Also free +1 extra warp per turn for lategame. Ross because that super fast garcia support is pretty dope. He just makes garcia feel so much better that i want to use him by extension. Miriel because if she can bysone miracle get a second seal she becomes the sickest dark mage. Granted henry and tharja are plenty fucking good
I've had fun with Dolph in FE11. In my FE11 H2 Run, Est was the key to beating Medeus because he's nearly as strong as H5 Medeus (29 Str/Spd in H2 vs 30 Str/Spd in H5) I used Abel and Roshea together in my most recent FE12 run. I want to use Vyland some time. Man Archanea has so many bad but fun units.
I love to use Rolf in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Ever since my first PoR run I grew really fond of him. One time for example he had more defense than Gatrie in PoR and in Radiant Dawn I tend to sometimes beat up the Black Knight with him, which I think is just damn hillarious. 😂😂
Even though I don’t think he’s as bad as people say he is I love using Boey in echoes he always turns amazing whenever I use not to mention I love his character so that’s probably my favorite “bad unit” And Nino of course
A little late to the party but i'd like to mention Lilina has carried multiple runs of binding blade for me. She always becomes a dodge tanking powerhouse after a little bit of archer farming on the chapter she joins. So satisfying to use.
If they're not complete garbage, they're not worth using. Trash Emblem, babeyyy~ (Spoilers for the video because I'm responding to each unit he mentions) Tatiana cracked me up in SoV. She's such a lovable ditz. Arden is a Good and Pure boy, and he deserves the world. You are an absolute madman for soloing with him. Tailtiu!! I'm not that familiar with her as a unit, but her story makes me cry. Can't get over that giant red scrunchie, though. Too much 1990s. Myrrh is too strongk. Limited stone use is BS tho. Lute literally ate maps for me, but then again, I'm a slow player on purpose and tend to show extreme favoritism towards mages. Okay, but for real, Gonzales is Best Boy. He should be #1 on everyone's list. If you don't love Gonzales, you are wrong. Danved makes me uncomfortable. I can't shake off the weird, vaguely racist vibes, my dudes. Which sucks, because lance infantry are so dang stylish, viability be damned. Ronan is... I dunno. My knowledge of Thracia is limited to staff cheesing and FEH Reinhardt memes. But the shenanigans you describe make him sound like a blast. I think my favorite trash unit is Meg. She is small and fat, like a wee cherub.
Ronan is kind of a nobody in the actual game. Uninteresting early-game archer with about five lines in the entire run, counting his death quote, unspectacular bases and growths, and he shows up after you already got one crappy archer. Mekkah's Ronan was basically a cosmic coincidence where he procced a 3% Move growth twice in a row. Being able to grow in Move isn't unique to Ronan, but this Ronan got extremely lucky - which is why Mekkah likes Ronan. That experience was personal to him.
Too many to list, but I'll focus in my favourite Fire Emblem: 12. You have Samto (Samuel), Elrean (Arlen), Luke, Radd, Caesar, Jake, Tomas, Dice, Midia, and, obviously, Bantu. And to me, Warren never disappoints, he is best boy of the entire franchise. Straight up facts. Santa Claus told me.
Warning, long comment, full of opinions. Tatiana: I didn't end up using her much until the post game, after learning that she learns Fortify. Definitely get her to at least level 4, she'll make the last stretch of the game a bit easier, especially the final chapter. (I ran out of turnwheel uses. Atlas and Forsyth (my "meme" unit) died. Fortify would've helped greatly) Arden: I've barely used him so far (at the end of my first playthrough), but I still managed to get him to level 13. My babying priorities went to Midir, Noish, and Alec, so Arden was out of luck. Tailtiu: I had her kill most of the pirates, buy the elite ring (thanks Dew), and complete the arena, which barely got her to level 20. After promotion, she's pretty good, when she can get to the enemies. Myrrh: Didn't use her until my second or third playthrough, and I regret it. Very powerful for the endgame, and doesn't need much babying on normal. (Haven't gotten that far on hard) Lute: I think Lute is overrated. She really needs a few critical points of speed on hard. Easier difficulties though, she's just fine. Maybe give her Amelia's speedwings if no one else needs them more. Gonzales: Tried using him when I took the Lalum route, but I lost my chapter 11 save and had to replay chapter 10. This time I decided to train Shin instead. Devdan/Danved: Haven't played the Tellius games (really want to though port or remaster/remake please), but I probably wouldn't use him very much, unless I decided to. In FE10 I already know that I want to use Aran anyway. Ronan: Pretty much never used him, though I'm still on my first playthrough, so that might be fixed in the future, when I feel like babying him.
I unironically use Amelia and Neimi. Guess my playthroughs give me stat blessed Amelias, but she becomes a killing machine as a General every time for me. And Neimi is really good once she hits Ranger, imo.
I use Setsuna in Birthright. I find her antics adorable and her design cute..... She's weird and I love it. Just makes me smile. I'm not sure she's actually bad, just far outclassed, but hey
My biggest guilty pleasure unit is Noish. He's not terrible, but he's pretty unspectacular. But he's my favorite father for Larcei and Ulster and he's actually a surprisingly good dad for Fee and Ced. On top of that, with either the Brave Sword or the Pursuit Band, he goes from being a stocky, but ineffectual unit to a pretty good unit.
Yeah, I discovered that the hit calculation happened before the crit in Conquest, where I had a 100% crit Charlotte with 40~50% hit rate. The crit animation would only start if it would hit, otherwise it would just do a regular attack animation and miss. idk how the other FEs work, but I would guess it's the same for most, if not all of them.
for me, I like using Leonardo in FE10, even though his speed is garbage I can usually rig him enough to make him worth using. Edward is my other, I know he's considered a good unit stuck in shitty chapters but I go out of my way to feed him the most EXP, and he's gotten MVP on 2/3 of my playthroughs (Haar is the other of course).
I always use Lute on SS as a Sage, I may be stubburn, but I love her. It also applies to Ilyana and I would like to watch a video about why is she not that good
1% Critical Hit Illyana is ok, there’s just so many mages that have more useful skills, she can’t double as consistently as say Soren when she joins, and he has higher magic as well, the only starts with higher lightning weapon level for bolting later but you could just use Callil and not waste exp on her, tormod also has fire magic which tends to be better against beast laguz which are more prominent, he also has celerity which gives him more of a niche, that being said you can use whoever you want especially in path of radiance and Illyana really isn’t bad at all, in fact you could use all mages if you really wanted, I can’t judge because I always use Mia, put gamble on her and forge a high hit high crit sword for her because it’s fun
theAnarch I put gamble on Rolf in path of radiance and gave him a killer bow towards the end of the game. His crit was 54, so when I gambled it’d be over 100, so I was like, “sick! Infinite Crits!” So I gambled against an enemy....and missed. Whuuuut? I guess percentages don’t mean much haha
John Meinhardt the game calculates if you hit or miss the shot first, so if Rolf has a 50% hit rate and 100% crit rate it’s a 100% chance to crit IF you hit, so it’s really effectively 50% chance to land a crit
My best 'bad' character for fire emblem. Mist in PoR. People keep saying she sucks, but... her growths aren't TOO bad, they're just average except with an amazing luck growth. She may be hard to level due to only getting 10 xp for heal each turn, but if she's healing each turn she can level up pretty well. Once she promotes though, her luck and speed should make her untouchable so she becomes a very safe hit and run healer as well as is your best candidate for the sonic sword (elincia comes too late and nobody else who uses swords has high magic).
I really love your point of view in this video, many scrubs see you as this cold blooded elitist, but this video shows that you, like the rest of us enjoy bad units.
the other day I was playing through FE7 again (on normal because I to start had a new save) and got bored from using cavaliers, so I ended up making Nino the absolute MVP of the run. And when I last played through Sacred Stones, I exclusively used female units and kept grinding to a minimum, so I had to use Amelia a lot, because she's the only potential female axe user, if I remember correctly. Making a weak unit strong as fuck is really satisfying and fun.
gonzales is good even with his low skill i still remember in chapter 13 at level 8 he just murdered one of the two reinforcements alone with a halberd and like 39 hit
Honestly, my Tatiana on Gaiden just died in one of the Dragon Assaults on Alm. And Silque died a bit later, I think. So I had to go through the final chapter just with Jenny. Or Genny, whatever. Man, that last chapter was really good. I remember my Baron Gray doubled the stupid eyeballs (I cycled through the Merc line, back to villager and to Baron and he had 22 speed) , Celica had JUST learned Ragnarok and was struggling to hit Duma, along with Zeke and Gradivius, it was so freaking good.
I've always loved arden ever since I first played 4. The very first castle was being a massive pita to clear so I decided to see if arden (who I'd written off already and just had sit his butt in the castle) could do anything about it and my man WALKED all the way over and demolished the boss. Went on to become one of my favorite FE characters.
I’d like to see a video on “good” units you dislike using, or that just aren’t fun. An example for me would be Ricken. I know he’s supposedly the best mage in Awakening and all that, but between him and Miriel I have way more fun with her. Her supports always have me laughing, and she can be decent on the battlefield, especially when she’s got the bonuses from supports. Objectively she isn’t all that good, and would probably be classified as a bad unit, but I have little tolerance for the “I’m an adult” 12 year old boy trope, and she’s just too funny (see her supports with Stahl and Lon’qu)
I wouldn't say that Myrrh is bad. She catches up really quickly with the rest of the army and she has great accuracy to make the task easy. Moreover, she then goes to become probably the strongest unit in your army, albeit with somewhat limited utility due to her Dragonstone.
Secret book doesn’t work on Gonzalez because he can’t read
Gonzalez can read.
Lilina taught him to.
What if Nino is only able to read until she has supports with Canas?

Tatiana gets proper healer exp in Echoes. So she has a really easy time getting fortify and is thus pretty good.
Yeah seriously. She's a really solid option. And combined with silque she can be really good. In echoes I found her quite amazing so... must be a vanilla fe2 thing
Tatiana and Healer!Faye make an amazing duo for the team
I think mekkah is wrong about Tatiana unlike silk she doesn't have to be next to a unit she heals, she can be any were because of pysics whole map range making her a beter healer than silk.
she unlocks fortify at level 4 at which point all you need to do is put silk next to her to heal her while she heals all your units.
I admit that its a little bit of a pain geting her to level 4 but anyone with the patiance to play gaiden casualy probably wouldn't mind a couple more trips to the monster shrine.
Silk is better in combat while tatiana is a better healer.
Also isnt she prepromoted? I don't quite remember, I just remember using Tatiana more as a Saint then a Cleric
What is this?! Mekkkah actually likes Fire Emblem?!

I agree with you the post game of fe8 is a little lonely
Coolman 9024 I agree, but if you didn’t boost, and you’re playing on hard, it’s a hell of a challenge. Dull for sure tho lol

@@samloyd9287 also aptitude is a beast skill

Nosferatu Lute is BEST Lute!

In this video, Mekkah talks about pitfalls that are fun to fall into
About Tatiana - In Echoes she starts as a higher level iirc (I think she starts either as a Saint or right at promotion level), and she is the only cleric who gets Fortify in the game. You also get exp for healing in Echoes which makes her MUCH better.
MythrilZenith She starts as a level 1 Saint in both games.

I love using sword masters. I know they're bad, but dodging and critting everything is just fun. Even when doubling and critting still isn't a kill.
Rutger's one of the best units in FE6 since he's the best bosskiller in the entire game due to his high accuracy and crazy crit rate.

I think perhaps rather than 'bad' units this list should be defined as low move units.

I kinda feel the same with Lilina where I know she's not the best unit to try and train up to use but she's like the unofficial second lord of FE6 lol

Magic-based Cecille in FE12. She's not very optimal for LTC, but she's useful backup to Marisha and Yumina, since she joins earlier and has a better Speed and Magic growth than Linde. Also, I like using Lilina for the same reason people love Lute.

It's not the worst units, just units that are considered bad that Mekkah likes regardless.
Cooper Chamberlain woosh
You like using Arden and Tailtiu too?
...did not think I'd ever hear that from you
I love Edward from Radiant Dawn.
I love the Dawn Brigade formers, Sothe Micaiah Leonardo Especially Nolan and Edward
Last playthrough I had I paired Noish with Briggid, and the result was incredible: i.imgur.com/vBBbLPy.png
She's very useful for thief utility, but I enjoy raising her up and seeing her decimate everything she can reach in the lategame.
Units that are crappy that I enjoy using:
1: Micaiah.
Is that arden? Anyway, what you described in the beginning are sometimes called, "Guilty Pleasure" Units.

I know he's like, the shittest character, but Ewan is one of my favourite characters from fe8.
@@xuanathan I love Ewan too. Hes so cheerful and colorful
Wallace has like the best supports in fe7. He sucks though.
Something that I never knew I wanted. I'm excited.
Tatiana is a saint in echoes. Much better
Python has killer bow access, which instantly makes him a good unit.
Subaki is bad? Because every single time i train him he comes out with high hp skill def and res seems pretty use ful to me
Zwei Mine always needs 6 levels to level str once
Zwei Subaki has major competition
Tailtiu has some fun things to play with.
I accept that as a fanboy I have an extremely biased view but thank you, so many people just throw her to the mother farm and not recognize how fun she is
Whenever Gonzalez crits the enemy gets Thanos'ed
I like that in a regular run of Fire Emblem (aka not LTC, HHM 5-star or other highest difficulties), it doesn't really matter all that much which units you use and you can throw rankings out of the window and just have fun.
I find rankings interesting because they can show me the potential a unit has, but they don't stop me from loving the feeling of holding off an approaching army with a wall of metal that generals tend to be.
Myrrh is considered bad? She can one-round anything that isn’t the final boss once you’ve burned less than half of that dragonstone.
no, she is not bad, she is "bad", which means, she is not very useful in certain playstlyes, specifically speedrunning and LTCs.
Just give Midir the killer bow and he will be about as good in combat and mounted
Demonic Gamer Azazel Jamke isn't even bad though.
@@salem1451 not really bad but infantry is pretty trash in that game
Midayle is overrated imo
So can we consider this list as oficial W.A.I.F.U. material list?

Gonzales + Treck is the best support
Bad unit I love to use though, Tate.
Aka, Mekkah's "I can have fun too" video. Great video though!
I use Odin in Fates as a Dark Flier and I usually give him all of the stat boosters.
"i like this unit because it grows nice" wait, what
On Sacred stones, the only two bad units that I enjoy using and having on my team are Ross and L'arachel.
I don't know how Lute ended up on this list, she's the only unit you get who can potentially hit 30 magic, the strongest magical powerhouse in FE8 lol
*potentially* is the key word here. She won't actually get there unless you grind and/or slow down a lot, and even if she does get there 30 magic is 99% of the time just a pretty number because it's massive overkill
With just 24 magic you are pretty much one rounding everything, there's pretty much no reason to have 30 Magic unless it's just for show.
Fun bad units:
Aran/Nephenee because of the novelty of using a soldier
Ronan because he got the movement stars and solid unpromoted movement
Sonya because mage rings are fun
Fe5 Machua because she just makes a good first impression in manster chapters
Fe11 wrys because he really isnt that bad as a long term h5 healer.
In my FE11 H2 Run, Est was the key to beating Medeus because he's nearly as strong as H5 Medeus (29 Str/Spd in H2 vs 30 Str/Spd in H5)
I used Abel and Roshea together in my most recent FE12 run.
I tried out Rolf once, killing Dhegnisea with him was hilarious.
Even though I don’t think he’s as bad as people say he is I love using Boey in echoes he always turns amazing whenever I use not to mention I love his character so that’s probably my favorite “bad unit”
And Nino of course
I like using Lilina when I play FE6 and Delthea when I play Echoes
I also do like using Myrmidons, and a lot of the FE4 foot units
A little late to the party but i'd like to mention Lilina has carried multiple runs of binding blade for me. She always becomes a dodge tanking powerhouse after a little bit of archer farming on the chapter she joins. So satisfying to use.
If they're not complete garbage, they're not worth using. Trash Emblem, babeyyy~
(Spoilers for the video because I'm responding to each unit he mentions)
Tatiana cracked me up in SoV.
Fortify would've helped greatly)
Arden: I've barely used him so far (at the end of my first playthrough), but I still managed to get him to level 13.
(Haven't gotten that far on hard)
Lute: I think Lute is overrated.
Barth can rescue Gonzales. But only Shin UNPROMOTED can rescue Barth. After promotion Shin's rescue stat goes down and no one can rescue Barth.
I unironically use Amelia and Neimi. Guess my playthroughs give me stat blessed Amelias, but she becomes a killing machine as a General every time for me. And Neimi is really good once she hits Ranger, imo.
Neimi isn't even that bad, some people just dismiss all archers as trash
I use Setsuna in Birthright. I find her antics adorable and her design cute..... She's weird and I love it. Just makes me smile.
I'm not sure she's actually bad, just far outclassed, but hey
Agree
My biggest guilty pleasure unit is Noish. He's not terrible, but he's pretty unspectacular. But he's my favorite father for Larcei and Ulster and he's actually a surprisingly good dad for Fee and Ced. On top of that, with either the Brave Sword or the Pursuit Band, he goes from being a stocky, but ineffectual unit to a pretty good unit.
Hahaha agree Noish is just great even though he is bad
My mind: lute is a good mage
My lute: gets defense less times then Barth gets res
Yeah, I discovered that the hit calculation happened before the crit in Conquest, where I had a 100% crit Charlotte with 40~50% hit rate. The crit animation would only start if it would hit, otherwise it would just do a regular attack animation and miss. idk how the other FEs work, but I would guess it's the same for most, if not all of them.
I love using bad units, there's nothing more satisfying to me than having Gwendolyn smash through a map with the awesome general animations
Wendy*
@@Edgeperor Her official name is Gwendolyn, as that's what it is in Heroes
for me, I like using Leonardo in FE10, even though his speed is garbage I can usually rig him enough to make him worth using.
John Meinhardt the game calculates if you hit or miss the shot first, so if Rolf has a 50% hit rate and 100% crit rate it’s a 100% chance to crit IF you hit, so it’s really effectively 50% chance to land a crit
theAnarch lame haha
Mekkah why are you on the list?
I also love using Arden and Tailtiu, as well as Marisa and Amelia in FE8, Nino in FE7, and Sophia in FE6.
Aka, meme units

WRRRRRYYYYYYYY!!!!
I recognize that Lance! All of Devdan’s Characteristics are good!
mekkah: every item in fe4 gen 2 belongs to seliph as he is the best user of them.
also mekkah: just give arden the pursuit ring lol
