Hello from the Rat roddin’ future. Bobbing a bed for a Class 1 comp truck.
22mm is the magic number.
I never dared to to this on my Hilux, my biggest respect - looks great!
I have seen really good job with dental floss a very fine cut and quite quick.

I found a good glue that bonds well and fast drying it's the glue to stick the PVC drain pipe come in blue red and clear
As for mods to the TF2 I would recommend the overdrive/underdrive mod. To do that you have to flip the transmission, flip the t-case, flip the servo, mount the input shaft on the t-case to the front axle shaft. This gives you overdrive on the front axle (witch gives you better turning angle and climbing abilities) and it clears away the big shovel skid, the front pumpkin will also be on the right side for the driveshaft, and the rear output on the t-case will be on the center of the truck, perfect allignment for the rear.
Another good mod is to make or buy new shock towers in front, to allow for the front shocks to be mounted a bit higher. 10-12mm or so.

Good call! The Hilux is a way cooler truck than the Blazer. For bobbing the beds 20mm is to my knowlage the usual cut off. And the japanese saws is popular to do it with, or a sewing thread. To glue it together a styrene cement is probaly better than the shoe goo type.

Maybe a miter box would be easier to cut straight lines or some jig like that.
Could you put a couple drops of ca glue on and then your shoe goo to get quick perfect alignment then clamp and wait??

That’s awesome truck and Idea now what kind of glue do you used and you don’t use welder at all?
Why not use poly styrene glue
I typically only use my styrene glues on raw styrene. These bodies are molded in a harder material and the epoxy holds it better. I’m sure they make a better thinner glue for it.
yo bro. sometime when you have time i can make your body work much much easier. i have done numerous hilux and other hardbody mods. unfortunately i am old and can not do the youtube thing other than watching or i would post vids. the short version is to use ca glue for body panel attachment and always back the joint with styrene overlapping inside the panels. i have many scale miles on my bodies and very few failures. i have done excabs, quadcabs, changing year models and just about every body mod there is.

What tires are you using? , they look great
They are the Mickey Thompson Baja claw ttc 1.55. They are extremely soft and need an aftermarket foam insert but have been excellent.

+Don Thatcher I appreciate the ideas. Ive had good luck with the glue I used before. Im really not trying to win any awards here. I want my channel to be about the regular guy that really wants to do these type things but doesnt know how. Im not that skilled with this stuff but I am teaching myself every time I try. This build especially has that theme. Im trying to recreate something an average joe built in his garage. My plan on the bobbed bed is to leave it exposed and try to make it look like a bare weld just primered over. This hobby for me is more about the functionality than the flash. I try to build each of my rigs like I would if it was my 1:1. Im sure you do great work, Im just the type that wants to keep trying and trying to do it for myself, my way. (not necessarily the right way or the best way)lol
What kind of glue?
It was a plastic weld 2 part epoxy
what chassis is that mate, i have a TF2 and cant get tyres like that on it
It’s a tf2 with the 3 link and 4 link suspension

They are rc4wd mickey thompson baja claw ttc 1.55's I used a dremel to open up the wheel arches a little bit
