Here is a video showing what it takes to replace a Ford Transits Ball joints puller tool 204-069 rotunda.service-solutions.com... adapter kit for puller rotunda.service-solutions.com...
I watched a guy use exhaust manifold bolts through the two holes in the ball joint. Finished it off with a hammer. He didn't beat the threads or ball. Saved $600
Those ball joints are a real pain to replace , we have the same problem with them wearing out quite quickly and we have the smaller Transit vans in the UK compared to the USA vans , a little trick we use is to put the new ball joint in a freezer for a few hours prior to fitting and it goes back into the knuckle a lot easier.... 👍
Hello, what is the socket/bit needed to get the original Ford bolts holding in the original Ford ball joint into the knuckle ? The bolts have a six point hole in them.
Did you lift the vehicle using a cross beam adapter on the front subframe while putting jacks stands on the jackpoints just outboard of the transmission crossmember?
All i need a coupla plates 2 long high grade bolts and weld up 3 nuts to grip ball joint i can make that tool with mig welder in 1 hour 😅... I heard its expensive
Who bloody came up with that arrangement No wonder you suggest replacing the knuckle Full vids showing all steps are great, as is advise re bolts 👍 Doesn't even look like you could get a straight ish push, with a shop press
Yes the way they designed that ball joint it pretty much makes it impossible to replace the ball joint without the ford tool. They did it to sell tools. Thanks for the feedback !
That's a good call especially for the owner. If I knew they were doing that I would have thrown that tidbit in there. Pretty sad that ford sells that tool for so much people are just replacing knuckles.

Transit is nothing but a money pit of maintinance cost!!! I have 133,000 miles and my ball joints have been making popping noise fot the past 15,000 miles. I can’t keep up with everything it takes to keep a Transit on the road, my Econlines never has any issues, explains why ford got rid of it
I do have another video giving you the part number for the new knuckle with the balljoint already installed. I can't disagree with the fact they aren't as robust as their econoline predecessor

It's a torx socket a t50 I believe

Yes
@@medtec6747 Nice. I’ve been lifting one side at a time. Never thought about using a cross beam adapter to get both sides up at once. Great videos.

Is there an upgraded strut to help with the camber (I assume due to weight).
upgraded springs they have
What kind of tool is that and where's it from ?
How did you get the ball joint screw access to being a different position? how did you move it aside?
I popped it out of the a frame and it has plenty of wiggle room to be pulled to the side so you can access the ball joint
@@medtec6747
We have a lot of 4 wheel drive vans and the axle shaft doesn’t allow the knuckle to move far enough away from the control arm.
Ball pein and air hammer /come out pretty easy/air hammer back in/crude yes but that tool is crazy expensive here
How you put it back
Should of used the ole ratcheting open end wrench. ;)
How many miles you getting out of the ball joints? Obviously an Ambulance might be wearing more quickly.
75k
Yea i tried this just now and it turns out to be cheaper to buy the steering knuckle with ball joint for $179 from ford parts america

$500 +tax/ship for the tooling. 😳
"If it isn't your money (the mechanic), why should you risk it?" You are 243 ft lbs in torque, correct!
That tools sell only ford rotunda
Its cheaper to replace front tires every year
Can you explain this? By replacing the front tires is it better for the ball joint ?
