    Never have I seen so many scrubs and so little urates! I'm impressed! Mine was a sweetheart, but she still soaked me every other time I got her out. Regarding your final comments, we are all aware of the mainstream species which make up about 95% of the hobby, but for those-like myself-who are interested in the other 5%, we have our eye on you Dan. Thank you for creating quality content for the rest of us!

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Terry Burwell There seems to be way too much #sellingthedream and I foresee serious problems ahead for species that are now mainstream but shouldn't be. Simalia also are not for everybody but I feel good knowing that the people that follow my content are the free thinkers that are here because they like this species....not because they have jumped on a band wagon. I have been working very hard towards retirement so my time left in the hobby is limited but it looks like there is a nice core group of hobbyists working to keep this species going strong in the hobby.

      +DMexotics I truly believe we are all standing on the shoulders of those who came before us and put in the time, effort, experimentation and implementation to establish certain species and practices. And you have some giant shoulders Dan! Now it's up to us in the current generation to learn from those-like yourself- and continue into the future.

    Two things I don't like about scrub pythons: 1) The way they always hold their head up like they're trying to go somewhere, and it's usually not where you want them to go. 2) When they are nippy and try to bite you. If it weren't for those two things I'd rate them a lot higher for a pet snake. They are more active than boa constrictors, but I like that boas are slow and docile and generally much easier to manage.

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If looking for a pet snake that you can watch tv with on your lap...scrub pythons definitely are not the one. For me personally, I always just kept the animals I thought were interesting and being docile never really made much difference to me.

    Any chance of a Scrub Pythons 3.0 coming out during lockdown?
    Even if you’ve since thinned the collection and there are only a few animals to highlight it would still be awesome to hear more about your experience with scrubs, from the first time you became aware of them in your youth to finding and documenting specimens in the wild as an adult, as well as thoughts on establishing sustainable lineages in captivity to supply the incredibly high market demand and how reptile farms like the ones you are affiliated with can help to protect locality bloodlines for the hobby and conservation efforts alike, etcetera-only a few examples.
    My inkling is that Apple could film you just reminiscing about your personal journey with scrubs and your hopes for the future and I can guarantee that I and all the other Simalia fanatics will watch it many times over just like these first two installments.
    When it comes to this complex, the Ptyas, and everything else you’ve drawn well-merited attention towards, you’re easily the best content creator on the platform bar none.
    Broadcasts from you two are an infusion of calmness and clarity in the best of times but they’re downright precious in this exceedingly trying one we’re all now weathering together.
    Many thanks,
    Mack

    Loe the videos and Scrubs. Would love to own one some day. I have kept many different species and I did take care of a Southern Scrub for about two months for a friend. Quite an experience. The little girl would light me up every chance she got but working with her was so much fun. She grew into a very well tempered adult.

      +Ewan Clark I will actually be posting the blandingii for sale today so if they are something you might be interested in purchasing let me know. I don't see the value of doing a video with a species I have decided not to keep. I am trying to keep my focus on a smaller number of species to hopefully increase my success with breeding.

  • @jonathanrfrenzel278
    @jonathanrfrenzel278 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    But a lot of the snakes don't even exist in there islands of Ben develop too much so there's no way to release a lot of them because they would just not survive

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest flaw in your idea is that releasing incorrect matches of animals to geographic areas would have an unknown effect on future populations. Many of these locality types are only speculation. While you can find hundreds of internet experts that will argue locality until they are blue in the face...the truth of the matter is that they do not know. Until I start seeing field research and entry stamps in some passports, the locality debate isn't going to lend itself to releasing animals back into the wild.

      +dit dot in all reality these animals probably have a better life in captivity then they ever would in the wild. they get affection, they get food with no work, water with no work, and a climate that is perfected just to fit their needs. how could that possibly be a bad thing. relax dude it's not that serious. if you don't like it why watch?

      They deserve to be in the wild with there problems and helped nt being able being to climb trees and be free instead of being stuck in a box snakes don't care about affection most reptiles prefer to be left alone ur saying u acept animals being taking away from the wild and getting engaged so u slap ur self and have a good day
