Great video! A very useful explanation on rear suspension setup and shock adjustment. Can’t wait to see about the front suspension info. Keep on going with your channel, many riders are in need of these useful tips and advice. Thanks!
Thanks a lot buddy. Going to use these tips for a new to me 17 WR450 supermoto. Been about 6 years since I had a supermoto so these tips will help a lot with fine tuning it for me.
Really spot on with the static sag. Stock it has loads static sag so you really need to stiffen it up with either preload or stiffer spring. I got my static to 12mm and it solved a whole lot of the front issues. Especially when you are running asphalt only.
Really usefull vídeo, thanks! It is interesting the explanation of high speed compression adjuster, because usually people only explain th low speed adjustment.
Hi really enjoy your channel could you give me some advice please I’m a road racer and relatively new to supermoto however I’m familiar with race / static sag etc . I’ve a smr 450 2024 to get my rider sag I’ve used a 63 rear spring I weigh 100kg with kit . My question is If I swap the rear linkage and triangle to the Spider set up for a more linear travel what weight spring would you suggest for 100 kg I realise the stock linkage is motorcross based and progressive I found this out from your channel thanks very much . I will be using the bike mainly for tarmac . Also hope to get down to your place early in 2025 for some practice il be in touch . Thanks for any info all the best Steve Bowes
I buy my springs through SMX racing in the netherlands, but they get the springs from Q springs. they do just about any springs you want, for the 23/24 model you want 240 mm length
Interesting how much preload you have there. I have a 2022 ktm smr and the manual says to have 12 mm preload , 20mm sag and 80mm rider sag. Also it says 54n/mm is for a 95-105kg rider.
do you have any suggestions for me?? ktm 500 exc supermoto with PDS shock... wp pro 6500 cartridges. valved rear. static is at 35mm, 110mm race sag, pilot power 2ct, 24f/28r psi. on high speed corners(60+mph) with alot of lean. im getting chatter on the front tire. very noticable. and pretty sure i can also hear it going DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT, chattering..
From my experiance if you have correct spring for you weight, then you set up static sag you should get right race sag. We in our team always aim for 15-20mm of static sag, and 60-70mm for race sag. As i said if your spring is correct both your sags will be in that range.

Realy useful tips, thanks! Winter might be a good time to go through all these to get the bike ready for next season

12mm is just about perfect

What brand of springs do you use? Highest rate WP for this model is 54, according to this video I should aim for more than 56.

Why does rider sag not count so much with supermotard?
