I might give them a try. I currently use Larsen Original. Previouisly I used Pirastro. Passione (amazing sound but too thin... I like a thicker string) and pre that Obligato ( thin and too dark in tone ) and for 20 years Eudoxa and sometimes an Olive G D. When I was a kid I tried Dominants and liked them ; 80% of my students use Dominant, on my recommendation, and they are very happy

Vision titanium good choice
How does the diameter compare to Peter Infeld? Are they thicker like the original Dominant or thin like PI?
Hi David, DOMINANT PRO AND PI have very similar diameters, except for the Peter Infeld E-strings (all types) which are 0,270mm and the Dominant Pro E-string DP01SN (0,262mm), DP01 and DP01AU (0,265mm) and DP01PT (0,268mm). The three latter strings are not on the market yet, they will be launched in July. Attention: The diameter of wound strings says little about the string tension. Otherwise you can compare the Peter Infeld set with the silver D to the just launched Dominant Pro set DP100 with silver wound D AND the Peter Infeld set with the aluminum D to the soon to be launched aluminum wound D of DOMINANT PRO. May I know how does the Dominant Pro compare with the Peter Infeld ?
Hi Jerry, DOMINANT PRO and Peter Infeld - both are premium strings for professional musicians. However, these product families have different technical formulas and thereby different properties, meaning that they offer solutions to different challenges.
DOMINANT PRO is the first product for which we have combined the materials of various Thomastik-Infeld brands with one another. We’ve combined the materials from DOMINANT with those from Peter Infeld and Vision Titanium Solo in order to blend the basic DOMINANT character with the soloistic properties of Peter Infeld and Vision Titanium Solo within the DOMINANT PRO : the radiance of Vision Titanium Solo (note: the G string is extremely broad and the A string very direct, like a pure gut string), the timbre, equilibrium, rapid response and focus of Peter Infeld, as well as the sound-sustaining capacity of both. Furthermore, DOMINANT PRO AND PI have very similar diameters, except for the Peter Infeld E-strings (all types) which are 0,270mm and the Dominant Pro E-string DP01SN (0,262mm), DP01 and DP01AU (0,265mm) and DP01PT (0,268mm). Revisiting this video after quite a while. Curious to know why not, rather than develop a new line of strings, simply improve the original Dominant line? The superior/improved qualities you describe in the Pro strings are what I’d hope to find in the original Dominant strings. The comparison made in the video makes Dominant strings seem like an unappealing and inferior option. Still patiently awaiting Pro for cello.

We are constantly working on new products and with DOMINANT PRO, we were not aiming to change the basic character of DOMINANT, but rather to offer an additional, contemporary repertoire of strings. DOMINANT PRO is a completely new product based on the character of DOMINANT but expanding upon its possibilities. DOMINANT PRO is very balanced between the individual strings and is more focused and darker than DOMINANT. The set also has a greater resistance to bow pressure and a larger dynamic range and scores with a bell-like sound that fills the room directly after stringing. The strings have a powerful, clear, and loud voice with a high ability to sustain sound. Despite the direct response, these strings give you the possibility to create a broad range of sound colors. When required, Dominant Pro asserts itself very well against the sound of an entire orchestra - in comparison to DOMINANT, the projection in a hall has also been reinforced. I was today years old when I realized I've been pronouncing Dominant wrong my entire adult life. I switched to Dominant Pros shortly after they came out and I love them. A Thomastik-Enfeld Tedx Talk, I love it! 🎻😁👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@@ThomastikInfeldVienna I love that they are low tension but still project, feel great under my fingers and respond to my vibrato beautifully. The feel under the bow is very pleasant as well , very responsive to accented notes and fast dynamic changes without excessive crunch or whistling. The strings are all warm but I find the G exceptionally beautiful on my violin which is on the darker side but with a warm clear sound (contemporary Italian based on a Guaneri 1739 pattern). I feel like I can get more nuance of sound and colors on the softer end of the sound spectrum as well. A very versatile string in my opinion. Well done!

@@ThomastikInfeldVienna Great! I look forward to trying them. I use Pirastro Oliv C & G and Toro uncovered gut A & D on my cello for early repertoire and Dominants for everything else. The Dominants are very fine indeed. I enjoy the gut like feel and sound without the fear of being swamped by Steinways.

I tried them and they dont have the playability as the other Thomastic strings like Titanium solo,PI,vision solo.And they have not a rapid response at all..I had to put much resine,I thought it was due to lack of resine,but far of that..The bow hair is not old...It has hardly a grip below the bow.Furthermore they are sensitive to humidity as gut strings..I wouldnt buy them if I knew.I am living in a very hot country!

This guys presentation is way over the top - thus, this video sounds extremely pushed and faux. Please try and find another representative - or send this guy to acting class. We want authenticity, not game show hosts for these fine strings.
