combo:
character: bowser / morton
vehicle: standard atv / badwagon / GLA
tires: ancient tires / monster tires / hot monster tires
glider: wario wing / plane glider / paraglider / gold glider
monster tires would have been more goofy, but they bounce a lot and are hard to use!
- lowest handling (turning) stat
- nearly fastest / max speed combo
- nearly lowest acceleration
- nearly max / highest weight stat
- nearly lowest mini turbo stat

If ur skilled and play your cards(items) right, you can win with any combo
You know what would be really useful? A side by side comparison of what the handling stat actually does. Taking the same turns with the same joystick position and seeing how the kart actually moves. I know handling makes a difference, but I've never really been able to point out how.

I really wish mario kart did a 'garage' where you could just test out vehicles and swap them really quickly so you can get the feel for them with out quitting each time you start the game

The fact that you managed to place well a good chunk of the time is crazy. It really goes to show how balanced the game is. Regardless of what setup you have, you can still win.
More like, items in general are OP. The front runners not getting any good items puts them in a massive disadvantage.
That last game was the pure essence of Mario Kart:
Your mushrooms being stolen by a boo, then a blue shell goes for the 1st place, a blooper makes so you can see almost nothing, when you finally pass the 1st place a car in the road spins and hit both of you, when you are almost losing you hit a perfect green shell snipe and get 1st place.

Handling is the most underrated stat in the whole game. Just try to play a match with no handling and try to win… oh wait shortcat beat me to it…
It's *difficult* to play with low handling, but it's not actually that bad objectively. Once I got used to it, I kind of stopped thinking about it. My acceleration became the bigger problem

Some precise shortcuts are tougher, including the coconut mall shortcut (which is usually really easy)

As someone trying to find good ways to use Morton, this video definitely encouraged me to start learning how to do bagging properly :P It looks easy seeing it, but I always mess it up somehow lol
It takes a lot of track knowledge to do it! You can even just race normally until you get hit, then stop racing and bag. If you never get hit, that works too!
For bagging, your top priority is to get to 10 coins. Get rid of triple mushrooms/star if another item is coming up, and get rid of golden mushrooms if there's no good spot for it on the track. (A good spot is a place with lots of shortcuts, like where I used it on sunset wilds)
You want to make your push for the front at a different time depending on the track. On coconut mall, there is no way to cheese it so I just spent the whole time trying to come back. On sunset wilds, it's the first half of lap 3 since there are 4+ shortcuts. On kalimari desert, it was right after the final train tracks

Bowser is probably my favorite character in this game if he wouldn't be that bad. It's kinda sad that he is in every "worst" combo I see 😭 (Note: I love ur videos keep it up!)
Bowser is awesome and I really like his voice in this game. They didn't give him a niche though. Dry Bowser has the same speed but more handling, and Bowser has more weight but that doesn't really matter. I wish he was just in a higher speed class

I have been doing races on random builds and it is a lot of fun, and very goofy most of the time, you should try using one of the many online randomizers!
The hardest part is getting a random build and picking it before every race before the time runs out
I had so many issues getting to my combo in time for my cutest combos video. I'm gonna try random soon!
@@Shortcat321what if you random about 20 combos then write them down? Since then you would have mor time to change the set up
Yes that would help. I had the combos written down for both videos I did that had me switching all the parts. But sometimes the game barely gives you any time in between races, so i end up wasting 5 minutes on a race with some weird combo that won't make it into the final video lol
@@Shortcat321 I found that if after a race you go straight to picking a character without choosing a stage it gives you a lot more time, since it will wait for a bit for you to pick a stage as well.
Still, you probably lose out on your chance to vote to a somewhat more favorable track to whatever build you got.
Hey Shortcat, your videos are so informative and engaging! I wonder if you could do a big video sometime where you talk about the best strategies and formulas for each circuit in the game? Maybe after the final wave has come out? Like, it would be very intriguing to learn what makes certain maps better for item/coin bagging, if there are any maps that are better for certain things than others?
Also, I recently learned (thanks to you) that I have been using an inside drift combo for my entire life! Ever Since Mario Kart Wii, I've just found that inside drift bikes 'felt right' without even knowing what they were! I wonder if you could do a video saying all the differences in playstyles each drift type should take? For instance, I've been trying Vector Gliding (also, thanks to you) recently without much luck, and it makes me wonder if it's different to accomplish on inside drift?
ALSO - it would be super interesting to see a controller map if you can possibly incorporate one in future? I hear your triggers going mad when you're allingment hopping and stuff, it would be mad to see the actual inputs for this real-time!

I already have been making tricks/shortcut videos for each track (yt shorts) so it will mainly be there. I could definitely make a compilation of tips, but 96 tracks is a lot LOL. The general idea though is bagging is viable when there are lots of shortcuts, or a chaotic section that you want to be invincible for. So other than learning shortcuts and general item play, there isn't too much to talk about.
Inside drift represent!! That's awesome. Idk how it works with glider vectoring, and I'll probably be pretty rudimentary with inside drift for the foreseeable future so I won't know much about it. One thing about inside drift is that it cannot do alignment hops nor super bounce, so on some tracks you will be at a bigger disadvantage. The advantage is that when you're drifting, the rear view camera is better, and you can backspam items in a better line to hit other players.
For the input viewer, I'd love to share the info but unfortunately I think it would be distracting to most viewers. Mario kart inputs are not that complicated though. The only times I'm not hitting an obvious direction on the stick are during soft drifting (aim for just under 45 degrees upwards), when making very slight adjustments (tilt the stick slightly), and motion glider and glider vectoring (will make a video on that soon)

I'll be honest, I used this combo for a while before recording just to get used to it. I was 100% getting worse results than any combo I've ever played before. Once I got used to playing safe and bagging more, my results became really good!

"forced to bag" is such a wonderful copium term for "I fucked up".
I played the whole game 3 star on all cups (before booster course was a thing) on a garbage setup like that. Mortan badwagon, slick tires, and normal glider. Having highest top speed and lowest turning. I became a master at the game because of this and can use any setup. You can make every turn in the game, including 200cc on worst handling. You just need some brake turning and creativity. I play more conventional setups now, but it's funni seeing a video like this pop up.
That whole sequence at 24:15 was so wild! Greatest ending to Coconut Mall I've ever seen

To be fair, Bowser being built to work best this sort of playstyle makes a lot of sense, it suits him. I doubt it was the intention, but it just works.

On another note, idk much whether bagging is that hated by fans. But, imo I don't mind it at all and I think it could add to the variety lol. In a way, if you front run, it opens chances to *get Mario Kart'd* , and if you bag, it opens chances to *do Mario Kart* , and I can definitely enjoy both haha.
Additionally, there is quite lots of less seen tracks nowadays huh, real treat for the eyes. Also, I hope you don't get Waluigi Stadium when doing a really difficult combo like this lol.

I used to swear by no handling Bowser back when I played MK8. Always remember to corner correctly, even when the build is not suited for it. As a wise racer has once said, "When turning, go outside, inside, outside."

For me, absolutely. Practicing tracks like waluigi stadium, DS Mario circuit, mushroom gorge, and more, has been such a blast. I think a lot of the best tracks are in the DLC.
